MAPPA is doing incredible job of blending 3D and 2D animation since Chainsaw Man. While it is not perfect yet, the improvements are noticeable. By the time JJK S3 or CSM S2 rolls around, I believe this will be the trademark animation style of MAPPA.
Not perfect yet? Also for 3d backgrounds. Every studio uses 3d backgrounds at times. But The important thing is that how you use them. The Quality of it looks Really good and it makes the Scenes Dynamic
@@A1000-b9s it is really good, yes. Probably some of the best in business. Maybe not as good as studio orange, but they are the masters of 3D anime. What I mean by not perfect is that it is noticeable, and while I don't mind it, it still is not "perfect". It's the same when first few episodes of CSM came out. To me, Geto missing his shot and Gojo making his symbolize how Geto may not have truly believed what he was saying about jujutsu serving to protect non-sorcerers
They added so much to mei and utahime - for those who didn't read the manga, that entire scene was like 5 pages in the manga and barely explained the situation at all. The infinite hallway was used as a device for gojo and geto to make their appearance, although in the anime Utahime and Mei were given an actual focus here which I loved. They also did this with the gojo/geto basketball scene, which I loved. Also, (HUGE MANGA SPOILER) I went nuts with the opening scene, showing Geto discovering Haibara's body, which revealed that Haibara was killed by a curse and the curse was stopped by Geto. In the manga we didn't know how haibara died specifically, and it was sad but also great to see that it was geto who found him dead, given the events that unfold in chapters 77-78.
I think once Inventory arc ends and Shibuya starts is when the real criticism starts. They are presenting this slice of life comedy colorful shounen of Gojo younger days but it will get dark and I am curious if the style will change a bit after. I also noticed the chromatic beginning with Geto so I am curious what kind of tone they will use after Inventory
@@poorchigga5209The one door Utahime opens up and done background elements. It’s only noticeable if you’re looking for it. It’s well hidden and enhances the scene cinematography.

They also did this with the gojo/geto basketball scene, which I loved.
Also, (HUGE MANGA SPOILER)
I went nuts with the opening scene, showing Geto discovering Haibara's body, which revealed that Haibara was killed by a curse and the curse was stopped by Geto.
I’ve seen some people complaining about the “CGI” and I’m just like “I’m not sure that word means what you think it means” lmao
Wait there is CGI in this episode???
@@poorchigga5209I've heard there was little, if not none
@@poorchigga5209The one door Utahime opens up and done background elements. It’s only noticeable if you’re looking for it. It’s well hidden and enhances the scene cinematography.
@@DarkEdge1231not that one. But only the backgrounds. 3d backgrounds in anime is pretty common
ngL when i was watching the episode i got instantly chainsaw man animation type vibes so i am hooked now ❤Mappa
This was already better than season 1 imo, the backgrounds, the cgi, the character acting, the composition, the sound design, the ost, etc. Now next episode will determine how season 2 is going to be in terms of action-animation and choreography. I'm hyped!
Spoiler warning about infinity you mentioned:
It's not he "let it through" it's more of he wasn't trying to block it, as at this point Infinity isn't always on.
He knows, but he's trying to not spoil anime onlys
7:00 I think that was showing the incorrect and correct thinking of geto and Gojo 🤔
I'm just happy to see Toji alive with flesh
some mfs in the crunchyroll comments saying the animation looked mid compared to season 1 shit was making me mad
I respect keeping it spoiler free for those who don't know.
That alleyway scene was literally chainsawman
Mappa is took different direction to usual anime style.
Most of anime using static or freeze like char standing there. But this, make the cinematography, camera shot, movement look awesome.
Especially body language here is strong. Really step up the standard animation in anime world
Great first episode
Ch 228 review?
