Best tutorial I have seen to date. I just picked up this game a week ago and it is already my favorite. Been playing RTS games for more than 20 years (thinking of the Close Combat series which I know shows my age). The one thing I always wanted to do was to jump into an individual unit to control it. Finally a game has pulled this off and pulled it off well. Looking forward to future expansions! Just wanted to say please do more tutorials, say maybe on the engineer teams, ammo distribution, etc. Thanks!

You press J and hold it, which creates a circle. This way you can also select units.
When you select a whole squad and switch to 3rd person view, the whole group will automatically follow your soldier when you run around. This way you can even give your squad members movement orders by pressing your mouse wheel.

Be careful about using concealment. The officers and commissar with binoculars can see you hiding. You can also use officers to spot concealed enemies though.

Hey man, wanted to say thank you for making so much content about GoH. I’ve watched other vids but yours are definitely the most comprehensive. It also really helps that you are easy to pay attention to. Other people have literally been annoying to no end. You rock, thanks for making these. I’ve only recently found GoH, I played MoW and was surprised to see how similar the games are. GoH, especially with the first person mod rocks, it’s so fun to go and play whatever soldier or vehicle.
The last time I played a game like this was Heroes and Generals. Was a long time ago. I really loved the concept of that game, sadly it fell apart for various reasons. I can’t wait for a future where we have a top down RTS that has a 1st and 3rd person experience with the playability of games like Battlefield. They’re coming, we just have to wait. Do you know of any games coming up that check all the marks? RTS/3PS/FPS?

One thing I really liked in this video was the description of how brush affects concealment, the use of single soldiers as scouts with the combination of "return fire" to maintain 'stealth'. I do hope you go over more things like this, as opposed to the individual functionality of the buttons themselves (which is helpful!). I really think it would be even more helpful to have infantry combat tutorials.
When are combat situations where each stance benefits? How to cross a field? How to attack an entrenched enemy effectively? Organization of types of weapons in a squad (mg, smg, flamer, rifleman).How to defend against a superior enemy? Just general tactics when using infantry, since infantry survivability is much different than any other RTS

Thank you for telling me how to make them run. Imalways in this situation where I gotta run from cover to cover and my soldiers just jogg to the next building like they don’t even care there’s an MG-42 aiming at them.

No missions, but a boatload of content for pvp and conquest. Very fun mod

I've gotten pretty comfortable the last few days since buying the game. About to beat my first conquest despite a pretty devastating defense I had earlier on, all that's to that sweet sweet 10.5cm arty and sneaky infantry scouting!
I began this game just smashing squads into points and walking into MG nests left and right.. learned to be more methodical and daring with my attacks. Infantry casaulties are down about 90% 🤣

I upgraded to a large conquest on hardmade. Holy hell is it difficult, won the first battle with a few hiccups, got slaughtered on a defense and had an equally awful attack afterwards. The last defense was in an airfield and I captured pretty much every vehicle they sent my way.. it's amazing just how important scavanging is on the higher difficulties. If I hadn't grabbed everything I wouldn't have had enough money for much needed reinforcements and my tank force would be rather non-existent in the earlygame. BA-6 my beloved 😝

Here's an extra tip not mentioned in this video: you can loot/transfer items a lot faster just by right-clicking once for each item :)

Great video - how do you get down on soldier eyelevel so you can judge the terrain ? When i zoom in im still in birdseye view and not level ….
It's funny you ask this bc I have had this issue in past. Best way I found to fix is control soldier to see or rotate camera a few times then look at the ground and zoom. I never had this issues until I needed to screen shot for thumbnail. Though it might just be me haha

Good Tutorial. I recently Bought CTA and COH. Which do youu Prefer?
I love them both, but they play very different imo. Personally, cta GOH is my favorite. CTA games seems slower and adds a dynamic strategy with line of sight. COH adds more rush to gameplay if that makes sense. I like more calculated strategy games. All personal preference tho

Good video. I have a question. Does it repair the tank faster if you get all the members of the tank crew to repair the tank together instead of just one?
Yes, the more ppl fixing the vehicle the faster you repair all parts. However, 2 ppl can't repair the same damage and they still repair at the same speed suggested in video.

One question: as a good reading manual is unavailable for this game, is there a way to add hotkeys to your squads like in Company of heroes with CTRL + number? I sometimes get lost where for example my mortar team is and I am looking everywhere on the map and losing valuable time. I would greatly appreciate an answer, whereas "No" is also an answer :)

E is to take control and then T is to get to close 3rd person. After pressing T try the scroll wheel to zoom in on character. If none of these things work go to settings and set it up. Hope this helps!
Do you have any mod recommendations? Maybe in relation to blood and gore and corpses and tanks staying in the field?
I have only ever used the Valor mod, but that was 2 years ago now. Sorry, plan on using some later this year

anyway you can quickly get all of one item??? like if it has KAR98 ammo and i only want the clips i dont want to double click 20 times to get 10 clips ect SHIFT+ XXXX or whatever key?
Should also be a scavenge button, yes i know it takes away from the micro management but would be nice, like after a big battle and the frontlines are pushed back by other fresh troops the "old worn" troops can loot the dead bodies and get their weapons if they have more ammo or even their own friendly bodies.
Good guide but could do without the video camera blocking some minor elements.
Is it possible to quickly switch between units when you've got a group of them selected?

is it possible to find fuel supplies on the map with ordering them ? im new and started german campagin and my tanks ran outta fuel and i dont have points to order 😪
I have never seen it on the map. However, I usually just turn my vehicles off if I'm not planning on moving them. It takes only a sec to turn them back on to move around. Sorry to hear about your struggles. Been there a few times

It takes time to understand, but when you do it's the best WWII RTS game imo. I currently have PC issues otherwise I would be doing more to promote this game. Maybe get it on steam sale if unsure. Hope this helps

There are only a few YTers consistently putting out content on this game and you're one of them, haha. This is definitely my favourite WW2 RTS game. I'm consdidering starting my first Finland Conquest campaign this evening; it's my favourite mode in the game by far and I'm glad you seem to share that belief :)

Hi, I'm new player here and I need some help and advices. have been playing this game for 11 hours. I played conquest normal difficulty, now on operation days 10 (win 8, lost 1). in the operation days 10 the air strike is wiping all my military. I played germany, what to counter that air strike? what is the anti-air unit name in germany tech tree? and what anti tank unit for germany? I captured 122mm M-30 M1938 from USR,, this unit is good to take down tank. so what germany good unit to counter tank?
Flak cannons just below the infantry tech tree. Just keep working towards tigers in tank tree if you want the best tank units. Besides this, you could use AT artillery. Just take some time to look over the tech tree to see what's what
"There's a lot of micro-management in this game... just a heads up"... yeah, you're NOT kidding. There's more than just a LOT, there's a TON. So, be forewarned, you will most likely spend ALL of your time in a match micro-managing EACH soldier because the A.I. in this game is pretty brain dead. They have hardly ANY initiative and many times won't even react to enemies right in their faces. But I digress... back to the video.
Forget tanks an army of flamethrower is all you need lol.

It does have coop on conquest. Before you start a match you gotta switch to coop mode

Stupid question: whenever I tell my soldiers to attack incoming infantry, they throw grenades and only throw grenades. It's like their rifles are an ornament. Am I doing something wrong?
It would need to be that the grenades are selected then thrown. Does it happen everytime or when the enemy is close

You could at least show how to refuell a flame trower,.. (jerrycan right click on vehicle with fuell or fuell tanker etc, and then right klik jerrycan with fuell now and right click flame trower)
Planning a video for this later. Most times I use ammo crates for this so I don't waste a jerrycan. Good info for ppl tho
Mortars and artillery are pretty trash. Oooh, it fires 350m, but it wont fire 350m, even though you have soldiers that can clearly see targets within the range...
I find unless my arty is right up on the frontlines it simply refuses to fire, this goes for MoW, MoWAS and CTA....
How to spread a unit ?
After you select your units go to wherever you want to place them with outline cover. From here you hold Right click [on mouse] and drag mouse to the right. This will focus on keeping them in cover and spread out. Same applies without cover, but it creates units spreading out in a line. I hope this helps

Tips que nadie pidió y no están en ingles porque me dio flojera traducir: Al seleccionar un grupo de infantería, cuando te sale la imagen fantasma de como quedara la unidad, si mantienes secundario y mueves el ratón hacia algún lado, la infantería se separara y buscara cobertura en toda el área que quieras. Esto es bastante útil a la hora de defender algún lugar.
La infantería no es buena avanzando toda junta, puedes seleccionar un grupo de infantería, presiona shift + algún numero que quieras, esto hará que cada que presiones ese numero se seleccionara el grupo que elegiste, ahora divide el grupo en dos, deja las unidades antitanque y francotiradores o ingenieros en el segundo grupo y muévelos en forma escalonada, de esta manera el primer grupo de avanzadilla que tiene las unidades mas prescindibles siempre tendrá cobertura por un segundo grupo, y si las cosas se ponen feas, simplemente presionas el numero asignado al grupo y le dices que retrocedan a esconderse (de hecho en este caso es bueno tener algún tanque de cerca cubriendo al grupo un poco mas atrás, no un cazacarros o algún blindado ligero, ya que estos no tienen muchas veces blindaje suficiente, son carentes de torreta y también de poder de fuego, y la artillería no sirve pues se mueve mucho mas lento que la infantería y ese tiempo que tarda en estar montada puede no ser lo suficientemente rápido)
La infantería de reconocimiento tiene un mayor alcance de visión mientras que los francotiradores tienen mayor alcance... prueba poner un francotirador cubriendo a una unidad de reconocimiento, con suficiente ingenio puedes incluso usar varios francotiradores.
cuando vallas a usar unidades que tengan lanzallamas... separa al lanzallamas un poco del resto, en mas de una ocasión causo mas bajas el portador de esta arma que los enemigos...

I would probably get smoked haha. I'm a slower strategist and know my limits. Tried to play with another well known youtuber and struggled to keep up with what he was trying to accomplish. I play conquest, scenario missions, and PVE modes. My favorite thing is to play conquest with friends. Thanks for asking tho!

It's tough, the vehicles struggle identifying a tank from infantry to attack. It's why I micro kill for the AI

@@ralfbelov7760 there are no guides on how things work. I had said, in the beginning, most of what I would teach are basics. Several ppl who play this game don't use all the tools to their benefit. I gave more in depth as to why you should. If you use all these tools then of course it's not "advanced" to you. All this to say, it's really up the person's experience playing GOH. If it didn't hit for you so be it, but for many it was game changing. Hope this helps perspective and please note I mean no frustration nor malice in my response.
Edit: I also don't know how the developer meant for ppl to play. Everything I teach is self-taught. I also don't play PvP
