I got into PC gaming PURELY for this kind of game, I bought the game and never really played it because it was too daunting and intimidating, I watch this tutorial and its given me confidence to play properly, thank you for the tutorial :) means a lot
Played for the first time today. One of my all time favorite tips is that you can shift + 1 to 0 to group the squads into categories. Then, after you divide them up, you just hit tthat assigned key to bring them back together. Changes the game ENTIRELY in my opinion.Tired of not knowing who is what and belongs where haha
I just got the game on steam on sale and got absolutely destroyed my first couple missions. I found your guide on TH-cam and it has made my campaign so much more enjoyable and I’ve learned so much. Thank You!
Trenches and landmines carry my conquests. I also think it's cool equipment and uniforms are persistent between battles . You can become really attached to your crews and infantry. Makes them feel alive
I learned a lot from this video! I'm glad you decided to show your attack and defence it was very informative, also I really like your the way you edited the video; zooming in on the things your were talking about it was very helpful.
This is great. I started watching the basic guide at 3 AM last night and watched through even though I almost died of sleep at the end due to being tired. I just woke up and had to watch this. It’s a hard, but fun game. Thank you Puggo. You got yourself a new subscriber.
I noticed at 49:50 about the MG ammo problem, you don't need to do this. If you select the mg assistant with the mg operator they both share ammo automatically in fact all units do share ammo when they are selected into squads instead of individual units.
You really helped me with this "Phase 2" thing. I didn`t know that clicking on the officer`s neighbour treepoint let me get the double of troops (110).
I would love to see them be able to marry the conquest and skirmish modes together I feel the conquest is just attack each base mortar them to death and move on to the next. The AI just sits there and doesn't do much. If you could play skirmish battles and be able to keep and acquire enemy assets and create a larger scale battle That would be cool
Man I don't know if the AI behavior was changed but they seem super aggressive in conquest to me. I usually try to move my squads up to a staging area near the first objective and start digging trenches, and before I can get any units in place I start taking fire and tanks start rolling up. The plan is to send a scout forward and recon but every single time I seem to get contact somewhere else along the line while my scout is looking at nothing. It seems like the options are: a) dig in where you spawn and fight your way across the whole map; or (b) try to advance and probably get caught in the open.
I know I'm late to this, but learned so much, how to set up the conquest, then how to use your troops, tactic's, most helpful video I've seen, plus all the tips, etc for the tree's, how they link, and discovering the various item's. Thanks Again, for your time and effort. Steve from LONDON UK
Nice tutorial, good clear advice. I may have missed seeing it in the vid but a handy deployment trick is to click and drag multiple Infantry. Usually the curser pops a ghost to show possible deployment points for soldiers, however if you select a group of soldiers then mouse over a position you will get multiple ghosts, now drag, the ghosts will be dispersed further with a longer drag. If there is no cover the soldiers spread out perpendicular to the drag, handy for deploying quickly behind a ridge or wall. If there is scattered cover, for example forest or rubble the soldiers will disperse outward in a scatted orb in cover. If you click and drag within a trench line the soldiers will disperse in the trench(mostly). If I cannot capture a piece of enemy equipment because it's to risky to fetch or time is running out, I'll blow it up, just because.
I enjoy your videos and have found them to be very helpful. One thing I've not seen anyone talk about, and I myself find very helpful, is the option to "restart" your missions. I had a mission the other day that started with the enemy launching a bombing run which destroyed my newly researched heavy tank that I had never got the chance to use. First thing, right out of the gate, boom. My new tank is already out of the mission and is gone gone, un-repairable. I felt cheated honestly. But! Press ESC, select restart, you get new missions to choose from, maybe new maps too, and it restarts without any cost to you other then loading time. So if you find a mission has gone horribly wrong, at any point during the mission, you can restart and try again without suffering any losses. Beginners will love this because it allows you to try and try again, until you've got it right.
I really like your tutorials. Keep making more. Some thoughts: You should also explain the ammo supply more. Like your soldiers can also supply from the ammo boxes and trucks. (not mentioned in the video) but its great that they can also take additional enemy weapons. Also this is very important: If you ever make a video specific about artillery: mortars and howitzers. You should use the "attack ground" option. Like you can set a constant artillery barrage to the enemy zones while your troops move closer. And you don't have to see enemy just you know they are there. (you may also hear them) This works also very nice in defense when you can bombard the enemy spawn points. Like individual direct control is good but it's also time consuming. Big howitzers with ammo trucks can easily clear any capture points from enemies far away while your troops move closer.
Good points, I'm 100% with you attacking the ground with Artillery. Will definitely add this when I come to this video. Feel free to leave more tips as you see fit
@@PuggoRebornChannel "Attack ground" can be also used as a defense on choke points where the constant artillery barrage prevents the enemy from reaching you. This is very effective on river crossings.
Great video! Remember that you can search bodies too with the V key, that way when you grab a weapon off the ground, you can search the soldier for ammo.
Very helpful video, I was pretty much lost in my first few dynamic campaigns - I had no idea how to call in reinforcements, and was going into the third and forth battle with just my first 50.
absolutely fantastic video 5 stars for sure, You are a very relaxed and informed presenter who does an excellent job of engaging the viewer. Your knowledge of the game was so helpful. I am 60 years old and a wargamer since childhood pre Avalon Hill etc and a WWII buff since 5-6 years old, listening to stories from veterans that actually served on all sides, my entire life. This game is incredible. *****
Great content. Thanks so much for doing this! I'm ~10 hours in and loving it. I haven't delved into Conquest but might do so this evening after watching this! Been blasting through your videos, excellent clarity.
Here to do what I can to help. I learned all this stuff the hard way haha. Only way to bring more players in is by making guides like this. Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks man, your guides are very well explained and straight to the point. I would say that they are on the same level as a high subscriber count channel, but a lot of them aren't as concise as you are. Hopefully more audiences will follow you in the future because you have a the bearings a great TH-camr.
Been playing since launch but had to check the unit stats again. Well done. Good guide overall I think since didnt watch everything but what i saw was great.
WoW Man! Thanks I was struggling to understand conquest mode. This is a super awesome video and its gonna take me a long way. Thanks for your time and detail you have put into this video.
This was hugely helpful, thank you for putting it together! This is a daunting game to learn and this mode makes it even more complex. The only criticism I have is in game footage is really choppy. I don't know if that happens when you render the video or your pc is just struggling in game. Hope you've upgraded your PC since this video!
Also if you make a separate video about AT guns. You should change the ammo type to HE so that the guns will also fire enemy soldiers. The AT gun will still change the ammo type to AP if it spots a tank, but it sometimes don't swap back to HE shells. So its wise to manage this manually. (I think there will be also more options for the AT guns when the new DLC/update comes out) Also the AT guns can be better than tanks if combined with the howitzers. This could be a video about different tactics/army compositions.
this is a million subs quality video. - according to wikipedia - The Kfz. 231 had 15 mm armour on the front, 8 mm on the sides, and 10 mm on the back, with 6 mm 5 mm on the top and bottom
best tutorial ever...after 10 minutes in I had a "grasp" of how to play...question...when you dismiss, let's say a tank, what happens to the veteran crew???
Excellent vid! Only just got the game and have been doing campaign missions to get into the gameplay. I think I'm ready for the conquest now but the start setup is somewhat overwhelming so this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, much appreciated!
@@PuggoRebornChannel Actually I have one. Is the difficulty level similar in single campaigns? Meaning that the unit count stays the same but the quality rises? I've been playing hard and very hard in campaigns and have found it surprisingly easy. So should I expect similar difficulty in the conguest?
Honestly it’s worth getting to the Jadtiger and King Tiger but the Jadoanther, panther and Tiger 1 are also really strong assets seeing as they have good mobility and work well with strong infantry troops and to protect your artillery. Depends on what PlayStation you want
You say it like 'faal-shirm-yayger', and yes they were hard-core in real life. As a beginner, I'm impressed with your Ostfront videos, and have just subscribed.

To be honest i came here after my first game. I had captured the point and had like 10-11 guys defending/standing behind a sand bag and boom a jeep come took it out. All good and the next thing happed is that a motor came and took out all 10 guys. had only one squad left which were being targeted my motor so i ran with them and there was a tank waiting behind the trees and shot all my squad only 2 medics left. I thought i did something wrong so i came to see if my strategy was wrong. Ty mate
Regarding CTA: GOHO, Hey Puggo i just found your channel and would like to say I love ur guides so far!! Personally, I'd love a video talking about your favorite/best units to use/go for in conquest for all three nations. Keep up the great work! Love from Israel
Just got this game and a BIG thanks for theses tutorials they are so helpful ! Just a quick Q before i end the Round should I carry on and capture/ fix all the stuff before I end the round ?
37:05 I think, from my experience of 140 h playtime, the higher the stars the more likely it is that the ai fields better units and special units like Artillery pieces, tanks and AA. But it is really hard to tell, so it could also be that it just throws more stuff at you.
I find that with armor the gun and handling is usually most important which is why I generally gravitate to the StuG III F over the IV or III, sure it lacks a turret but it has a freakishly low profile and okay-ish armor and if you know how to StuG they'll get you quite far
Nice analysis! It's amazing how the detail doesn't get missed in this game. I love the StuG III btw. Just worry about the tracks if not positioned correctly.
These tutorials are so good! Any chance you play multiplayer? It would be awesome if you came out with a multiplayer strategy tutorial. I have 180 hours in the game, and still haven't dipped my feet into that aspect yet
I'm old school in playing RTS games. I see ppl playing like it's an Esport tournament. As a theory crafter, I'm more of a logistics type of person. Maybe I will try more down the road, but for now I like teaching the fine details
They have a limited reserve, but rather large deployment. I will make more videos at some point. My PC needs some upgrades yet and I don't have the editing software I once did. Definitely have the itch to keep making vids
Thanks for the video... quick question, would you recommend grabbing arty guns and other equipment at the end with one infantry solider so you can sell them for money? I think you covered that at the very end but just want to double check. Thanks
Hey man, I’ve recently found your channel and it’s really useful/entertaining, just wanted to know if there are any other games like this? Maybe in a more modern setting?
Call to Arms is a modern take. The original game was what brought Gates of Hell. However, it's AI is fairly poor. Just keep that in mind. I'm glad you enjoy the content!
Wow. Very helpful. Thank you. So imagine, that you don't know about the callsigns because, well, nothing from the gaming company bothers to explain what they are and you're trying to fight your way through a campaign with one callsign worth of guys only. Sound like fun? Well, its not. LOL
@@PuggoRebornChannel Not at the moment thanks! The video makes it very clear. I completely missed that before watching, and was trying to fight campaigns with only one 60 point call-in group. Very very difficult. LOL. I probably would have pitched the game soon without knowing that. Thanks for the game-changer. If i can return the favor in some small way, the correct, or most common American pronunciation, for German paratroops (Fallschirmjäger) is "Fall-shurm-Yay-ger". 🙂
This is really the only game I play I would love to see them implement a true first person perspective into the game I know modders have added it.. but it's just not quite right and has wonky views. The visuals of this game can definitely handle the first person perspective.
U sir are a credit to ur regiment! Thank u for putting all these helpful CTA videos together. I have been gaming via consoles of all types since the Xbox 360. I literally just built my first computer in decades last weekend. I'm new to Steam and, more specifically, this game. I just downloaded CTA and it's quite overwhelming at first. Your videos help a great deal and I'm not alone in feeling lost when it comes to CTA. My question to u is...this video, as great as it is, it's 2yrs old, so is it still relevant? The reason I ask is that I see all kinds of add'l versions and ukdates to CTA on Steeam, and I'm confused. For example, there's a Deluxe Edition and an update for it on Steam dated in 2015, same timeframe as the Basic version. I have the Basic version along with the Osfront DLC and that's all. Bottom.line...Is the game still being updated by the devs and is the information ur providing still applicable? Thank unfor responding. I really want to get unyielding this game, but if there is something newer out, I just want to know.
@PuggoRebornChannel thx for the quick reply. I'm still watching this great video. I was wondering why when that first group of soldiers was at 48 out of 50, u didn't spend 2pts to get an officer. up to the point I'm at now in ur video u didn't mention the officer. Maybe that comes later. I'm hooked and will finish this video, it's so good!
love the video very helpful thank you sir. if you have a great interest in wwl and wwll armored vehicles tanks cars motorcycles and more including the basic foot soldier i would recommend The Chieftain - The tank museum - World Of Tanks North America inside the chieftains hatch series. i binge watch these well playing men of war and call to arms
I did you a mod for other factions some time ago, but not anymore. As for hard-core, I play casually. I usually play on medium or hard. Depends on if I'm playing with friends
I think armor is simply range. Pz.35 like example, has 5-25. Pz.35 had 25mm front, 16mm sides and rear, 8mm roofs. I havent found 5mm anywhere, but it could be some small place. I dont know how is armor/penetration modeled(i dont expect War Thunder level of simulation), but one thats most important will be higher value, if you keep your front towards enemy. Lower number will not be as important, since it only matters for Anti-tank rifles, if they aim for something like viewports.
I have talked with the devs, and it is based on range and armor thickness in area of effect. The tanks are in fact designed similar to War Thunder. They will be adding an armor view like in war thunder! This game is nuts haha. The future looks amazing
@@PuggoRebornChannel Thx. I was wondering how armor sloping works in this game, since some tanks can be nutts. Like T-50 in early war period, then T-34 ofc. Angle of impact is pretty important for that kind of armor, making them hard to pen even if armor value itself isnt that great. So i hope they take that into account aswell.
The hardest part for me in these games is knowing what these tank names do and what they are meant for. So many different Soviet tanks and units it’s very hard for a new player to even know what to even research.
Yea, so many factors go into play. Armor, caliber, types of ammo, ammo capacity, speed, reload speed, turret turn speed, etc etc. My best advice is to try stuff out and see what tanks you like. Soviets have the more unique tanks. Germans have the best overall tanks. Finland has a mix of tanks, but lacks late game power. If you want my thoughts on tank or whatever feel free to ask.

Nice analysis! It's amazing how the detail doesn't get missed in this game. I love the StuG III btw. Just worry about the tracks if not positioned correctly.
the hetzer is also amazing, its armor is a little more reliable that stugs tend to be, atleast early/midgame
This guide was amazing, thank you.
Thanks your guide motivated me to try dynamic campaigns!
Got a question, has the ai unlimited reserves?
And are you doing more vids?
They have a limited reserve, but rather large deployment. I will make more videos at some point. My PC needs some upgrades yet and I don't have the editing software I once did. Definitely have the itch to keep making vids
Awesome video, Tks. Greetings from Zurich Switzerland.
Thanks for the video... quick question, would you recommend grabbing arty guns and other equipment at the end with one infantry solider so you can sell them for money? I think you covered that at the very end but just want to double check. Thanks
Absolutely, the more money, the better. Glad the video was useful for you!
@@PuggoRebornChannel thank you for the suggestion!
We need an updated version of this with the new AI. I just got the game the other day and my first missions are nothing like this and so much harder!
21:31 spare barrel holder with quick change barrel for the squad mg.
This was/is helpful! Thank you very much!
Love the guides...Thanks
Of course!
Wow. Very helpful. Thank you. So imagine, that you don't know about the callsigns because, well, nothing from the gaming company bothers to explain what they are and you're trying to fight your way through a campaign with one callsign worth of guys only. Sound like fun? Well, its not. LOL
Do you have a quest about call-ins? Feel free to ask if unsure
Lol dang man, I feel the struggle. 1 call-in would be horrific haha
Great video! Thanks man.
This is really the only game I play I would love to see them implement a true first person perspective into the game I know modders have added it.. but it's just not quite right and has wonky views. The visuals of this game can definitely handle the first person perspective.
Thanks for the guide!
Yes, the devs are active, and the video's still good. I am going to redo these hopefully by 2025
@PuggoRebornChannel thx for the quick reply.
@@scottparker4568 It's been a minute, but I definitely advocate for one over other teaching videos
super cool. very good. I learned a lot
love the video very helpful thank you sir. if you have a great interest in wwl and wwll armored vehicles tanks cars motorcycles and more including the basic foot soldier i would recommend The Chieftain - The tank museum - World Of Tanks North America inside the chieftains hatch series. i binge watch these well playing men of war and call to arms
Very cool, will look into it!
Fallschmeger xD man i love it
Wasn't the best guess I could have made 😂
Great vid. Is it relevant to the original "modern" CTA?
Not that I'm aware. I'm sure things are similar tho
Man I just got whooped so hard after 8 wins
Wiped out lol
Lol GOH for ya
Great tutorial Pug!
Great tutorial thanks!
The small tube you see on MG guys are spare barrels for the MG.
Thanks for your help!👍
Thx for the help brother.
Of course, bro!
Very nice man, thank you!
Awesome guide!
Great guide.
Big ty
Hi do you use mod of any Kind ?
Do you play in hardcore ?
I did you a mod for other factions some time ago, but not anymore. As for hard-core, I play casually. I usually play on medium or hard. Depends on if I'm playing with friends

Great tutorial!
This was super helpful
incredible game and incredible video! Good job!!!
Thanks!
Absolutely
Another great job @Puggo !!
Thanks for this
The hardest part for me in these games is knowing what these tank names do and what they are meant for.
Really great video, thanks for making it ;-)
MG Assistants have higher MG skill, so if the gunner goes down they are the best person to pick the weapon up after.
