the fact that the skin specifically is the edible part of Appletun reminds me of Caecilians, a worm-like amphibian that grows a fatty layer of skin when it has babies so the babies can rip off the skin layer and eat it, while the mama caecilian regrows it in time for the next feeding. i wonder if it’s a similar deal with Appletun

I actually love the Vanillite line :( the "snow melting into icicles" concept makes it all the more reasonable in the same universe that has sentient orbs, magnets and whatnot. It's so harshly judged everywhere, I don't get it
And ice cream in the Pokémon universe was inspired _by_ the Vanillite line, not the other way around.
Hell, there was a time when more ice types were sorely needed. I think an ice cream cone pokemon fits right in when the series' first gen had a freaking rock with arms and eyes.
There is nothing about the original lore or design that conveys this, I don't even know if modern lore for it even does. Making it completely irrelevent and something added in later when people were complaining.

funny thing about appletun, and the bit you mentioned about "tun" meaning an enclosure or house. that thing being, that "aeppeltun" is already old english for orchard! (precisely because of the etymology u mentioned) Because of that "appleton" is already an existing surname for families who lived/had ancestors who lived on orchards.

dragons dont need to have wings. like, appletun is evolved from applin, which is a "wyrm." A type of dragon. Historically, those dragons consistently lacked wings, and essentially just look like giant snakes. but theyre still dragons. so yeah, appletun is a dragon just because it's got dragon vibes and we CALL it that-- which is the same way dragons have always worked.

Fun fact: some Pokémon that look tasty to humans might be using a sort of aggressive mimicry, perhaps in an effort to lure in humanoid Pokémon and/or humans.
Fact or theory
MattMatrixJohnson Hypothesis. Aggressive mimicry is a thing IRL (see anglerfish and snapping turtles), so mimicking food in nature is a good way to lure things that eat said food. If you eat the animals that you’re luring in, you’ll be evolutionarily pressured to keep luring in prey by tricking them into thinking you’re tasty.
So logically, wild Vanilluxe should be just as dangerous to a human without Pokémon of their own on hand as a wild Weavile would be, and at least the Weavile would be less subtle.
Not confirmed in canon, but logically possible based on the laws of biology in the Pokémon universe.

So we're just not going to talk about how Slowpoke's Tail is an actual food... ok fine by me.
We do know that Slowpoke tails have sweet-tasting flesh, which it takes advantage of for fishing. Then again, Slowpoke tails also regenerate quickly, so maybe it's like a salamander thing.
We need a full in depth dive into pokemon that are eaten. Because we ALL KNOW... people eat meat. Some pokemon eat meat. That meat HAS to come from SOMEWHERE! XD

A comprehensive guide to all of the known predator-prey relationships throughout the Pokémon games and Anime, including the ones Humans hunt and kill for food or other things, would probably make for a good video.

HachimenRoppi Orihara It’s type 1 diabetes so its cool. As long as You inject yourself with insulin, Since your own insulin production is poopoo. Insulin is What lets the cells absorb the carbohydrates. Type 2-diabetes had been worse though, Since You develop a resistance to insulin due to hyperglycemia, likely due to overconsumption of sugar. Insulin injections don’t really aid When that wasn’t the problem to begin with :/
This is Also Why its easier for diabetics to gain weight. Its because the carbohydrates are transformed to fatty acids and stored instead of used.

I enjoy watching your videos early in the morning, it’s currently 7:45am. It reminds me of when I was a kid & I’d watch whatever educational program was playing while getting ready for school but in this case, I’m getting ready to go to an Etsy bazaar in Salem Oregon, a lot more exciting than school but it’s also Saturday. I love that I can still get that feeling even at the age of 28, I know more about food than I ever thought I would.

This seemed like a good video to write this on. I doubt you'll ever see this in the flood of comments, and over 5 hours after video release, but I just wanted you to know that you helped me greatly. I stumbled upon your video about the keto diet a few weeks ago. I researched up on it, and started *that day*. I was in a similar situation to you. My weight was getting out of hand. Wasn't sure what to do about it. Kept feeling awful about my choices, and what options I even had.
Well, so far it's going amazing. I already feel great. Have way more energy. Keto flu only lasted like a few days for me, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Can't wait to see the results, once I really stick to it for a while.

8:56 Galar is upside-down England (and Scotland) you start off in the rolling hills of Scotland, aka the bottom of the map, and Wyndon which is very obviously based on London is at the top of the map. The opposite of the way it is IRL
Except the North of galar is more like the North of England (lake district, Northumberland), as that's rolling hills and Scotland is more mountain and cliff.

With type 1 diabetes it is more expensive to eat sweets because insulin is expensive and necessary for not dying when you eat too much sugar.
I enjoyed learning about some of these Pokemon who resembled food.

Perhaps it doesn't eat an Apple, but rather something stupidly hard to do happens. Sort of like Event Own Tempo Rockruffs or Sirfetch'd. I sort of want that to happen, and as a trade-off for the fact it's so hard to get, it's got the best stats of all. Perhaps getting hit with an Ice type move along with some other requirement, like maxed friendship during a specific time frame? It should be nice and absurd so we get our Grass/Dragon type with a base stat total of at LEAST 550
