The "snarl" part of Grimmsnarl's name probably references the term in relation to hair or fur, where a snarl basically means a knot or tangled mass of hair, moreso than the more common use of the word that refers to a growl. Or perhaps both meanings went into it, since it's a big growling beast but also covered in hair.

I bet there’s a connection between Hatterene and Grimmsnarl. Hatterene being a fairy witch is very much related to Morgan le Fay. This goes further in that her G-Max form is referred to as a goddess. Morgan is sometimes depicted as a goddess as well. Grimmsnarl and his line may be then based of the Green Knight from the poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Morgrem’s bow, it turning green, and evolving into something completely green all references this poem.

One more possible layer to Cufant that explains why this is in Galar: the London pub (and Underground station) Elephant & Castle is believed by some to be a corruption of L’Enfant de Castille, the Infant of Castille, thus bringing the elephant and infant references together in a uniquely British obsessed-with-mispronouncing-foreign-words way.

Fun fact about Sirfetch'd: I see a lot of people making jokes about female Sirfetch'ds. "Sir" is traditionally not gender-related. Only through a lot of misunderstanding and mistranslation did it become that way. Originally, you'd call for a knight by saying "Ser!", which meant "Come here!". Since most knights were usually men, the word evolved to refer primarily to men over a long enough time, even know it's technically gender-neutral. I mean, hell, even in the military, we use "Sir" to refer to both men and women.
