    Im not worried about you. Anyone crazy desperate enough to swim with bull sharks nudging legs while stuffing plastic in the bottom of the boat after lighting strike, and filming it to boot, is a true survivor. What i remember most about you from those days is your incredible generosity. Times were hard but every one who needed anything from what little you had, you gave it away. You have character my man! Carry on!😊

    plucky I have to say i have more respect for you than any other person on youtube!!
    Not only do you deal with every problem with full confidence you also try to make sure to keep anyone and everyone around you in the best possible mindset that you can. Like when you and Marguerite got a hole in your boat and even though you knew you were going to loose everything and you still cracked a joke and tried to make her smile . And even though you are one of the best sailors on youtube you never brag about how good you are or how many nautical miles you have sailed. I cant think of another person i would rather have with me on a circumnavigation. Because even if we had to abandon ship in the middle of the ocean you are one of the few people that just having you there would give me full confidence that we would not only survive but also thrive while doing so as well

      Yes, absolute! Erik true matches »The Nautical Superconstellation League (NSL)« guess I should create a badge for this :)
      ...
      The NSL Manifesto
      1. What We’re About
      The Nautical Superconstellation League (NSL) brings together sailors, innovators, and enthusiasts who are pushing the boundaries of sailing. We’re all about combining technical skill, sustainable practices, creative expression, and the art of sharing the thrill of sailing with the world. NSL isn’t just a club; it’s a culture built on professionalism, creativity, and a deep love for the ocean.
      2. Our Core Values
      _ Sailing Mastery: We set the bar high when it comes to technical skill, innovation, and nautical expertise. Navigation skills, crisis management, and tactical finesse are at the core of our community.
      _ Sustainability: We’re committed to eco-friendly sailing. From cutting down on flight miles to protecting our oceans, we lead by example when it comes to responsible living.
      _ Creative Vibes: NSL celebrates the power of music, film, and visual arts to enhance the sailing experience. A solid music selection and a visually cohesive storytelling style matter just as much as technical performance.
      _ Innovation: We embrace new tech and fresh ideas that make sailing safer, smarter, and more accessible. The NSL is a platform for pioneers driving the future of sailing.
      _ Community Spirit: We’re all about sharing knowledge and supporting each other. The NSL is a tight-knit group where we challenge each other to grow and reach new heights.
      3. Our Vision for the Future
      We’re shaping a future where sailing isn’t just about freedom and adventure but also about sustainability and community. With the drive and dedication of our members, the NSL is setting a new standard for the sailing world-one where responsibility and creativity lead the way. We aim to be the beacon of excellence, accountability, and innovation in the sport.
      4. No Compromise on Integrity
      Being part of the NSL isn’t about popularity or flashy numbers. It’s about skill, character, and staying true to the values that matter. We’re not here for the hype; we’re here for real sailors who’ve earned their stripes and are passionate about the craft.
      5. Our Code
      Every member of the NSL commits to a code of respect-for the ocean, for each other, and for the sport. Those who don’t live up to this standard risk their spot in the NSL. Integrity is non-negotiable.
      6. Join Us
      We’re calling out to sailors, innovators, and enthusiasts to be part of this movement, to revolutionize the sailing world and pave the way for a more sustainable future. Through our passion, expertise, and collaboration, we’ll take the sport of sailing to the next level.
      ...
      NSL Book of Rules
      0. Zero Bullshit
      1. Jury Selection (Every 5 Years)
      // Who Votes?
      Only full members and Supporting Members get to vote. No outsiders, no fluff. You’re part of the crew, or you’re not.
      // How the Jury is Scored:
      The jury members are chosen based on a scorecard that’s all about real value:
      _ Expertise: You know your way around a boat? Prove it.
      _ Sustainability: It’s not just about sailing, it’s about sailing smart-less flight miles, more eco-friendly.
      _ Sailing Skills: Navigation, crisis management, finesse-it’s all about how you handle the seas.
      _ Innovation: If you’re bringing fresh ideas, we’re listening.
      _ Entertainment Value: Can you engage and entertain while you sail? It’s more than just handling the boat.
      _ Visual and Artistic Talent: How you capture your journey matters-photos, videos, the whole vibe.
      _ Consistency in Music Choices: A great sailing video needs great music-your playlist better match your journey.
      2. Endorsement Commission
      // Who Can Nominate?
      Only paying members, members on social seats (enthusiasts who can’t afford membership), and Supporting Members can nominate someone for the Endorsement Commission. We keep it real and accessible.
      // How to Apply:
      You wanna be part of the commission? Cool. Submit a standardized one-pager introducing yourself to the community. Show us why you deserve a spot.
      3. Security Fund
      // Where the Money Comes From:
      The Security Fund is fueled by member fees, donations from Supporting Members, and partnerships with brands. But let’s be clear: No product placements, no cheap promotions. Brands get visibility slots, nothing more.
      // Who Can Tap Into the Fund?
      If you’re an NSL-Hero actively sailing, or in the middle of a documented build or refit project, and you’re filming it, you can access the fund. Every eligible NSL-Hero gets equal access to the resources.
      // Supplier Spots:
      Vendors can apply for special spots offering NSL members exclusive deals. Whether it’s yacht electronics, interior design, coding, film editing-vendors can bring their A-game to our marketplace. Again: NO cheap placements and promotions, the NSL-Heroes rule here!
      // Marketplace:
      The NSL marketplace is where vendors put up complex services, and members can get what they need at solid, discounted rates.
      4. Protection Against Misuse
      // Regular Reviews:
      Both the Jury and the Endorsement Commission get regularly reviewed. They need to live up to NSL values-no favoritism, no shortcuts.
      // Transparency: Every decision made by the Jury and the Commission is out in the open. The NSL doesn’t hide anything-if you’re making moves, the community sees them.

    I readied a leopard 46 yesterday, put sails on and such. The increase in sail area came from the boom length. Its so long the boat looks like a yawl. Big thing tried to sweep me off too, but i got forearms like popeye, also on this boat, it was one season old, heading to charter, had cracks in the deck to bridge joint, i mean full split and twisted gel coat. @@SAILINGintoFREEDOM well... It's shittier. 😆 But with it's high bridge deck she actually does pretty well to windward. The biggest issue for upwind performance is the job sheet car position. You just can't pinch it in tight enough. I have come up with a creative way to use a block and my lazy sheet to pull it tighter to windward. In the configuration she will sail at 35 apparent up to about 6 or 7 knots. I've seen a VMG of 5 knots. That's in a protected bay. At sea in chop, 5 ft or so, I find that 55 apparent is sweet spot and can get around a 3 to 4 VMG. So really terrible into weather at sea. And it's all about momentum. Stuffing the bow into waves just crushes a cats ability to make headway. I think this is where waterline really comes into play. Because being light really hurts a boats ability to go to weather because of the momentum aspect. Easy solution, don't go to weather. Ha. 🥂

    I think it's pretty well accepted that a mono cruiser will always be faster than a cat cruiser. So the comparison is a non-argument. If you are an experienced sailor you'll be used to a boat heeling. But if you're new to cruising and want a more stable platform you'll likely go for a cat. Two YT channels (Delos & Zatara) started in mono and are switched to cats for personal reasons probably based on comfort, space, and stability. Cats never compared favourable in the past because they were notoriously poorly manufactured - particularly in a structural sense, (Sailing Parley).

      WTF? Have you never had someone you have ACTUALLY loved whom you were going to marry trample all over your heart? Hell no! These so called divorced or split couples who see each other all the time... What BS. I'll bet most of them were either NEVER in love to begin with or are still in love with each other but due to pure selfishness are apart as nothing was ever settled and its in limbo like cowards running away. Those that end, truly end; hell no you do not want to see them or hear from them EVER.

    It would be interesting to have all parameters presented as a range rather than a specific point on a chart. Most of those values overlap and as you say, there isn't much into them but from a sale point of view.
    At the bottom of your performance chart as you say one may conclude that heavier catamarans have a higher comfort and handling confidence. A value much appreciated by sailors in need of rested cruising. Sailing into Freedom completely ignore that factor.

      I have done it all in other episodes. I am still amazed about how people delude themselves... how many couches do you need on a boat? How high is the boom, how high has the mast been made to compensate for such a terrible SA to Displ ratio, how fat are the hulls, how well can it point, how much windage does it have, how heavy is it, where is the center of effort of the sail....yes you get couches and 3 toilets but you get every single other negative possible but keep dreaming
