9:42 Jen doesn't put a coin on a card to up the chances of a Miner coming out. But Miner's aren't on the Road, they are off to the side with the Hayer and Lumberjack.

Even if you dont like anything, you probably still want to put a coin so you can take it, or force your opponent to put a coin.

9:20 Well, Miner is one of the "stock" characters on the side, so it is "out there" :)

Coming back now because of the KS that recently launched. I may go all in.
My one nit pic about this game is that you are never actually 'building' anything. You are simply adding villagers to your village. Yet the symbols on the cards (front and back) show buildings, and the phase is called the Build phase. I wish this was thought out better. At first glance, I expected there to be buildings along with villagers, but it is just people, no buildings.
    Rules Q:
1:40 Draft Phase on player card reads: You MUST Draft 2 Villager PLUS one for each food icon in your village. I believe this is slightly different then saying 'you must draft at least 2 villagers' because as the game progresses and you add villagers with a food icon, this would not hold true. This language comes up again as you play your first hand, making it sound like you have a choice-you may recruit more, as opposed to you must recruit more. Further on, at 12:38 you expressed the Draft Phase and the Build Phase as being 'in the same way', but I'm reading these as very different. One is a MUST while the other is a MAY. Perhaps I am not clear on the rules, or the language on the player aid card is confusing.
4:48 Is it true, you could also pay the bank if the Carpenter is not in play in someone else's hand?

      Hi,
I think you are misunderstanding the way Richard explained the Draft and the Build or not hearing fully what he said... You draft at least 2 villagers in every Draft phase, if you have food icons on your village you will draft more cards (up to a maximum of 5), that's why he says "Each player HAS to draft at least 2 villagers, although you can potentially earn more if you've got food to lure them"
Here he's saying that you draft 2 villagers minimum, and you'll draft more if you have food icons, and you'll draft them because having more villagers in your hand is better for you, more choices you'll have to play later...
Regarding the Build phase, he said very clearly that "you'll build UP TO 2 buildings plus 1 more for each constructing icon on your village", the key here is the use of the "UP TO" implying that it's not an obligation it's a choice because to build you have to be able to fulfil the requirements (and/or have enough money to pay for them) of what you want to build, so if you want you can build 0 cards in the build phase...
the "In the same way" that he said referring to both phases of the game was to explain that the number of actions (recruiting and Building) will/can be increased if you have Food/Builder icons on your village.
Regarding your last question, yes, if no one has the Unlocking Villager (the Carpenter in your example) you can pay the bank to use one... page 15 of the rules

Those coins are scored at the end of the Round when the Market cards are revealed, just like Richard explains a little bit after... since there are 2 of those cards and the founders score 2 coins per Market Phase, Jen has the possibility to score 4 total coins while Richard has lost that possibility because he had to flip the card over due to not having food in his village at this point
