    As a lifelong Colorado boy, I grew up loving the Rockies, Todd Helton and Larry walker and a child, cargo and tulo running the show, the Nolan and story era, I want the Rockies to make it work, even though I know they never will, but if the MLB team were to leave Colorado, I would be devastated.

      I was a Rockies fan from 1993 to 2015 and I feel that I wasted 22 years cheering for them. I truly think they need to move to Nashville. But I left the Rockies for the Red Sox after the Tulo trade to Toronto. As long as the Rockies have the same owners and front management, they won't sniff success.

    I'm a lifelong Rockies fan and I only have one theory to explain this offseason: they're finally committing to their youth. We've been asking them to cut losses and do this ever since the Arenado debacle (their fault and thank goodness that GM is gone) and perhaps it's coming at a good time. It's always a gamble to hope on prospects, but we have a lot of good ones and a lot of them have just arrived or are arriving within a season or two. Veen, Romo, Tovar, Brouchard, and Montgomery are heading a new class of potential Rockies stars. A lineup with those 5 meeting expectations plus Bryant, McMahon, Rodgers, Marquez, Senzatela, and Freeland is a core that can be worked with. I would give the Rockies til 2024 to make any real moves, looking to plug the needs in order to make that team successful.
    We're gonna be bad this year barring a Guardians-style early arrival of the rookies, but for once I'm not despairing about it. If we have to lose a bit more to let the young guys get some reps instead of useless free agents like Ian Desmond (yikes) or Daniel Murphy (double yikes) I'll take it.
    EDIT: Also, there isn't a chance in hell of the Rockies moving. Even with their bad seasons, they are consistently towards the top of the league in attendance and they signed a lease deal in Coors Field for like the next 30 years. There is a large, dedicated fan base here. Frankly, the owners don't deserve it, but one never prays for the pilot flying the plane to crash.

    I was on board with this video until you said move the team?! Coors is one of the best ball parks in America, Rockies have have better attendance than many winning teams, despite being terrible. They set records for consecutive games sold out in their early years. The Rockies draw fans from Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Money is not the problem. The city isn't the problem. It's the owners who don't care about winning. They move the team but keep the owners, guess what they're still going to suck. Coors field is a cash cow for ownership, they don't NEED to win to make money.
    I'm sorry but if you did just a little bit more research you'd know ownership is the problem, the answer is to sell the team and keep them in Denver.

      I'll tell you right now, the Monforts do zero marketing here in Utah, we get the games on Root sports, that's it, once in awhile they will play a game at Bees stadium, I would love for them to do more shit to involve Utah fans, we are a population base that is significant enough in size to make a difference, but when you have your own fan base who just want to pump money into the team regardless if they win or not, I guess your certainly not going to worry about attracting a new fan base.

    I lived in Colorado Springs for years and went to many Rockies games. I'm a Yankee fan but gotta admit Coors Field is beautiful, the place is usually pretty full too. It seems like it just comes down to ownership. The Rockies are the poster child for why the lockout happened. Ownership is fine collecting revenue sharing $, selling tix and concessions and merch and not spending any of it on personnel. They just don't care. They're perfectly happy to keep finishing last as long as the team is somewhat profitable. Sorry for Rockies fans

    This team will never leave Denver. The climate in the summer months and ballpark is what sells. For 30 years the Rockies have had among the best attendance in baseball. Unfortunately the Monforts know that and have no need to spend for home teams product on the field. The road team bring the tourists from out of town and the locals seem content having a beer and hanging out on in the rooftop watching the Avs and Nuggets compete on the numerous tvs available up there.

    LOL bro wants to move the Rockies as if they aren't a top 10 attendance most years. It doesn't matter it their bad, the Rockies are still wanted here in Denver. After all that losing, all the Rockies fans are gifted nothing. They need new management that understands the importance of analytics. The Rockies can be a gold mine of a team with the right people in charge. The last thing the franchise needs is a move out of Denver.

    • @keeneboy7700
      @keeneboy7700 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@AndrewRoyythat is totally incorrect.
      There are lots of things about Denver that are appealing to big league players and free agents. A gorgeous ballpark that's generally pretty full. Nice summer weather. Mountains within an hour of the city that provide plenty of recreation during the off season. And, if you have a family, lots of great neighborhoods for a wealthy guy to raise his kids in.
      It's not New York or LA, but it's not Milwaukee or Cincinnati either.
      Yes, your ERA will suck if you're a pitcher. They don't tend to spend a ton of money on free agent pitchers for this reason. Also, with advanced and park adjusted metrics being more common now, teams see that a 5.00 pitching at Coors is a 3.50 most other places and factor that in, so it may not be the career killer it once was.
      Now, if only their management used metrics. Or made decisions that made any sense at all...

    New owners will turn this team around 100%. Ownership who cares. You can build a really good team in Coors without relocating them. Pitching is tough there, but so is Philly and Cincinnati even Yankee Stadium, Fenway, Camden and even Houston. If you look at HRs by ballpark Coors is around the middle of the pact when it comes to 100+ homeruns. The way I would build the team from scratch is just a slap hitting speedster in CF to cover all the space outthere. Good defense on the corners with some pop. Then you fill the corner IF spots with raw power and the middle with defense and hitting for avg. As for pitching scout ground ball pitchers. You don't need a flamethrower who's going to strike out 200+ but give up dangers like candy. I know this is all easier said than done. But with the right owners and scouts the Rockies can be a big threat in the NL west. It's not going to happen overnight but it can happen.

    Fun fact, though we can say in terms of playoffs, Seattle has been the worst the last 20 years, Kansas City Royals have the worst W/L record since 2000 at 1595-2029. However, they did make the playoffs 2x, won playoff series 6x, went to 2 World Series and won it once. So technically the worst overall franchise since 2000 are the Baltimore Orioles at 1613-2009. They won 2x in playoff series and made it 3x. Slightly behind but can go both ways is the Pittsburgh Pirates at 1615-2004 with 3 playoff appearances and 1 playoff win. So Pirates and Orioles fans can make the solid argument on who had the tougher stretch in the last 23 years.

I was telling my Father the Rockies will be World Series Champions in 1993. My Father told me not to expect that much from the Rockies, like come on, where are they going to get the players? They had Andres Galarraga, Dale Murphy, Vinnie Castilla, and Eric Young on the 1993 team. They had no pitching.

    As a formers Rockies fan I can tell you it’s so freeing to not be a fan. My main gripe is ownership not wanting to pay people. Nolan arenado was due for his bag and ownership did what they been doing since taking over in the 90s: not paying people when they’re due and trading them then bringing in a new person and then trading. It was o wash rinse repeat it got redundant. No hope in this team. After the Nolan trade I was done. Ownership not caring about fans is nothing new. They don’t put money into the team. Now they got Kris bryant who’s an inferior player to Nolan and can’t stay healthy for more than 1/3 of the season. Watch them not pay him despite him being good when he’s due. Same thing happened w tuliwutzki. And Matt holiday and dexter Fowler. Last Gm blew ass and the current is the same shit.
    Ownership usually only cares about butts in seats and that’s it. No rings, no glory no nothing. They’ve spent more to upgrade the stadium and nowhere near as much to pay people. They got the money they just choose not to spend

    I have wondered why MLB put a team in Colorado.
    12 years ago I moved to Colorado. I have usually attended a game when the Cubs are in town.
    At a game a couple of years ago there was a 15-minute rain delay 8:04 walked up to the walkway and talked with an usher. I mention how the crowd was predominately Cubby Blue.
    The usher stated that this was nothing abnormal. He stated when the Cardinals are in town, Coors Field is all red. If the Dodgers are in town the whole place is Dodger Blue.
    When I ask my Colorado friends, who are the Rockies main neminis. They stare at each of in an attempt to provide a unified response.
    MLB put a team in Colorado to attract all misplaced fans.
    Very few avid Rockies fans in Colordo.

Even some football teams (Broncos) don't even score 25 points in a game throughout the entire year, so to let a baseball team run up 25 on you is pretty unsettling. The good news is you can still buy $1 tickets to a Rockies game in the Rockpile but who wants to spend $30 gas, $20 parking, $30 concessions/food/beverage so over $80 down the drain even if the tickets are cheap just to see them get hammered by any team that visits Coors Field.*

They're being actively held back every second Monfort is owning them since he's running the team like it's a glorified bar in Denver, rather than...ya know...an actual baseball team that wants to compete. On paper both the 1995 and 2001 teams were stacked with great players and at least one of those two teams should have made the World Series. The 95 team had 3 players now in the HOF and although Seattle’s pitching was a bit thin excluding Randy Johnson, Cleveland pitching for the most part shut down Seattle’s bats (guys like A-Rod, Tino Martinez and Edgar Martinez) and advanced to the World Series over Seattle. Their Division Series win against NY was something to behold however.

    I don't really know what's going on with them but it almost seems like the owner has watched Major League too many times. It's the only thing that makes since to me. Play bad enough so they can move. Of course the altitude will be to blame.
    I won't pay to go to the games anymore. 4-5 hour round trip drive and cost of tickets you need to at least try to be a winning team .

    To me the Rox seem a lot like the A's, the only difference is the A's constantly trade away great players, receive all minor league players, the A's take their players and turn them into superstars then get rid of them, the Rox just always look like a AAA team, those teams with Cargo and Tulo were awesome, even for a few years Helton was at the tail end of his career but was still solid as hell, they also had Mornieux, they always failed to find a solid closer, even when they had semi decent pitching, they never had enough of it to make an impact, I think the monforts are just cheap, Denver is a big enough city there really isn't any valid reason for this to be happening, I am an A's fan, I live in Ogden Utah, after getting sick of the A's bullshit, I figured I'm in the Rox market, might as well start watching them, I find out they are every bit as frustrating as the A's, there is almost zero marketing to the Utah market, it's always baffled me, I think that is very relevant to the incompetence of the ownership, to have such a huge population of people that could be potential Rockies fans, and they almost act like we are not here, instead of tapping into it, they are just bullshit owners and don't know what they are doing, Rockies and A's, the most useless owners in baseball.

    I guess if they win again depends on if they're willing to pay just enough to play moneyball. They wouldn't need that powerful of power hitters given the ballpark aids in sending pitches over the wall and I would go with pitchers with high strikeout totals.

    I know I’m a year late but you’re nuts if you think the Rockies should move. As a Phillies fan, we heard the same noise about Citizens Bank Park & how we’ll never get good FA pitchers (if our ownership actually opened their wallets at that time) but the Phillies drafted well, won in 2008 & then were able to attract top players. Then had an awful GM that ruined everything, cheap ownership & an 11 drought 😂 Also, top FA batters would love to play there over SF but even SF got great FA. It’s about having a winning culture that really attracts players.
    I went to see the Phillies at Coors in 2016 - both teams were garbage - & the ballpark was packed for those 3 games! A lot of Phillies fans but it was obviously majority Rockies fans. I’ve been to 20 ballparks but I thought Rockies fans weren’t just knowledgeable about their team but they were knowledgeable about MLB. The fans were awesome & Coors is in my top 3 ballparks I’ve been to.
    I think fans should really protest ownership/management. Still go to games but bring signs, get local sports media involved & really pressure them.

      I understand what you are trying to say all I said is it would be easier for them to win if they wanted to move because overpaying for pitching but the problem is they just draft to win which has not really worked for them they have to sign free agents which they did with Bryant

    What they need to do is invest in fast guys, with that outfield they should be able to hit triples more than anyone. That’s what I don’t get with the Nolan trade they should’ve asked for bader or tommy Edman. A new form of whitey ball I think would work best. Buy speed contact and defense. You aren't gonna get better than erd in the division and 1 or 2 or 3 big signings isn't really gonna change it. It is not fair to compare the Dodgers and the Rockies. They are diametrically opposite. The Dodgers have built their success primarily through developing pitching. They have a history of it. It is very hard to develop major league pitching for Colorado because of location. Pitches don't move the same there, so to develop major league talent in pitching every minor league affiliate needs to be the same elevation. That isn't feasible for the Rockies, so they can't have the same recipe for success as the Dodgers.

    • @AndrewRoyy
      @AndrewRoyy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thats a good point and only a couple teams can win year after year but they just have to make it attractive for pitchers to go there

    • @brianeleighton
      @brianeleighton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndrewRoyy The problem with that is players know the history of good pitchers who sign free agent deals to Colorado. Let's just say they...weren't the best for those players earning power post-contract. The Coors Effect is a real deal for incoming pitchers. The Rockies have made progress by securing Albuquerque as their AAA affiliate. I believe it is the highest elevation stadium in AAA.
      The Dodgers also spent heavily on their minor league system when the current owners took over. They were one of the first clubs to give each minor league team its own chef and nutritionist. Most clubs also don't have the luxury of having their own network in Sportsnet or playing in the 2nd largest media market in the country.
      I agree with your concerns over ownership. The ownership group did a purge of the front office and scouting department in 2020 and 2021. The only way for the Rockies to compete will be painful for you fans. Ownership will have to invest in player scouting and development. Those scouts will have to find/draft high school pitching prospects and high end college hitters. The prospects will have to work their way through the Rockies system, spending a year most places, especially in AAA. You are likely only starting to see those guys in Denver about 4 or 5 years from now. Likely Rockies fans will have a painful road ahead.
      Edit: The college hitters will arrive sooner, but as you know pitching wins pennants.
