It's nice to see the handheld games explored. People don't usually take an in depth look at them and when they do, they're old reviews that get all weird and angry. Ah, the old TH-cam days when everybody wanted to be like AVGN.

Man these games look good for GBC. I remember the colours always being washed out and desaturated, that was when I could actually see what was on screen.
Seeing that first game dragged me kicking and screaming back to my early childhood, good lord

I absolutely love these intros. They look really good and set the tone for the episode beautifully. This series gives me just another thing to look forward to the following years.

I feel like the idea with Pro Skater 3 was that you would listen to your own music while you played. Like you said, half the fun comes from shredding through to the awesome soundtrack, and they knew they couldnt compete with the gameboy's soundchip, so they just left it silent so you could listen to some RATM without having to mute the sound effects
I don't care about this series at all, I downright suck at them but this event on your channel is always great. I especially like when you try to skate.

I'm wondering, since after this year, you'll have covered pretty much every game in the Tony Hawk series, what would you do for Year 4? My only guesses are either rip-off titles like Grind Session and Simpsons Skateboarding, or sports titles made by the same people who made the Tony Hawk games like Mat Hoffman's BMX.

Oh man, I clicked on this as soon as I seen it. The GBA ones are a bit more similar to the console experience, looking forward to seeing what you've got to say about those. Though, I'm most excited for the psp episode.
THPS3 on GBC was the first Tony Hawk game I ever owned. It was a frustrating game indeed. I never played the real THPS3 until a year or two ago.

You could check Trick Boarder (snowboard game) on GBC. It's very similar to the first Tony Hawk game you've reviewed here.

The animations on THPS3 were really fluid tbh.
YES, I was very surprised by that. Even on the smaller scale next to THPS2, every single trick is so defined and all look awesome.
THPS3 GBC is the Dark Souls of extreme sports games.

I can't wait either to be honest, I'm keen for Hawktober to take a broader turn to include more than just the skateboarding.
@@SquareEyedJak One game worth checking out is Geoff Rowley Skate & Slam on JME. A damn great old school mobile game. Notable for the impressive sprite animations and controls.
You should try and review Disney’s Extreme Skate Adventure which is a spin-off of THPS but it has the Disney licence containing characters and levels based on Disney films such as “Tarzan,” “The Lion King” and “Toy Story” the console versions also use the same engine used in THPS 4 plus for a kids game it also has a Nu Metal soundtrack containing songs including TRUSTCompany’s Downfall.

I have a few of portables in the series (THPS 1 2 & 3, THUG, THASL) but literally all of them I played for like 15 minutes and never touched again.

1:58 You do know that Natsume was responsible for great titles like some of the Medarot (Medabots as I remember it, I saw the show as a kid) games, Pocky and Rocky, that Gundam and Power Rangers fighting game, Wild Guns, The Ninja Warriors for SNES and recently their revivals like Shadow of the Ninja Reborn, right? You forgot to mention that in your video. Oh well, somebody probably already told you about Natsume in a near 5 year old video. Don’t take it personally mate. I also want to tell you that I’m a fan of Natsume’s work.

I owned Pro Skater 3 when I was younger, and thought I was just really shit at it.. Glad to hear that after all these years, it wasn’t 100% down to my incompetence 🤣
Yo it's really tough, I'd say give it a second chance though. The challenge is satisfying to overcome.
I am no expert in hardware, but, the lack of music in THPS3 may be deliberate. the gameboy only has like TWO channels for music/sound or something like that, so they could have opted to have more advanced sound effects instead of music for immersion's sake, seeing as this is much more "hardcore" than the other GBC games.

A Tony Hawk's game without the licensed music just feels unnatural to me.
The only other Tony Hawk games you could possibly review after this are mobile Tony Hawk Games. Which probably exist to be fair. They’re probably not very good although some of them might be decent.
