    We ride the Kaabo Mantis electric scooter around San Francisco in this #FPV video. We use GPS telemetry to record speed which I've noticed is better than the GoPro 7 that I have. Overall the #KaaboMantis #ElectricScooter is a great entry monster scooter, reminiscent of the FalconPEV Zero 10X/Turbowheel Lightning.
    Some things that help me ride and create videos:
    - Boblbee backpack: packs.point65.com?ref=alienrides Discount: P65ARIDES15
    - Fox Sports Proframe helmet: amzn.to/2LOGlm3
    - GoPro Hero 7 Black: amzn.to/2SplkQh

    You need head to toe gear just for the torque of the Mantis. In single motor drive it’s quick as hell, on dual motor it peels out even when you set the speed to ramp up. It climbed my 20% grade driveway like I was going n flat pavement. Amazing piece of tech.

  • @AlienRides

    Rough range test: 15 miles, could eke out a few more miles if I had feathered the throttle for a while.
    This is with the basic version (17ah), constantly pinning throttle, a heavy rider, and hills. Lighter riders and more conservative riding would see 30 miles +. I recommend the pro version for the larger battery.

      Not as rough as the REV range test was with no sidewalk parts at all up to a 700 ft hill... so you could strech that out to double as well! That 7.5 miles range in that case streches out to 15+ miles per charge.

    It's ironic that I just got home from a ride and get to watch a new video. I haven't been on the ULTRA in over 3 weeks. Sadly my mom passed on the 12th 😢. Now she's with my Dad. I have over 2,000 miles on mine. I got rid of the stock bars. I went with a V1 stem adapter cuz it's easy to install and put on a Race Face respond 60 MM stem with 10 degree rise paired width 740 mm Race Face Chester 1 inch riser bars. @@lych5924 As far as the suspension noise the rear suspension on mine made a little bit of noise like that but not that bad. I think it's the Rubber suspension inside the casing when it flexes. After so many miles you can barely hear it now. The headset making that noise when you're rocking it back and forth is another issue. The stem has to come off and it needs to be tightened up correctly. I don't know where you got it from but I think I'd be returning that if you didn't want to be bothered with fixing it. If not there are videos out there on how to tighten it up.

    Good job - I have done the same and variations of this SF ride numerous times so this could have easily been from my GoPro, lol.
    The semi hydraulic brakes have been flawless so far. Motors are also powerful enough to haul my 210 lb ass up many of the steep SF hills pretty nicely.
    Least favorite thing on the Mantis Base is the range. I only go full throttle and w # of SF hills, probably get less than 15 miles overall.

      Good question, both are awesome scooters. My personal preference might be the Eagle Pro for road riding, and the Mantis if you hit trails occasionally. The mantis suspension is a bit more springy and maybe better for smoothing out bumps at lower speed, while the eagle has a more rubber-like suspension I guess? Can't go wrong with either :)

    This video was great too brother, I am curious if I really do need the pro as my commute is at most 13 miles each way. I am hoping to move downtown from the beach at the end of the year as well, drastically decreasing my commute.
    Side note, around the 5 minute mark the scooter makes some serious noise as you go over the bumps. What is that?
    Also have you run this in any light rain, or through puddles? I am curious if that dinky little rear fender does anything, or if water and such will fling up your back like on the widewheel.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks, personally I recommend the pro even if you don't need it. It will just be a nicer ride with the MiniMotors control, and hydraulic brakes. The extra range is nice to have too, as you could probably make your commute both ways without charging on the base model, but I think your battery would be pretty low at the end of the day.
      Good ears, the rear suspension does kind of "clunk" when going over some big bumps. I'm not sure if it's common to every Mantis, or can be fixed.
      I haven't done any puddle tests, but that would be very interesting for future videos for sure.

      I haven't ridden the 10x in a while TBH, but it is very similar. I only rode the 52v 10X, but since this is 60v, I think it has a bit more power. The feeling while riding is very similar due to a similar suspension system, though I think the 10X might have a slightly better suspension, and I think you can swap the 10X suspension coil out for a standard mountain biking suspension replacement. Both are overall a great first monster scooter.

    Hi, bro... How's the warranty on a Mantis? Does the company Kaabo offer any warranty at all and what were the few things you have found that may need to be checked before riding? I heard some people had spacers on the rear wheel missing which allows the wheel to wiggle...

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! So most scooter companies don't really provide a warranty, you get it through the reseller/distributor. In this case, the distributor mentioned in the video description, is a fairly well known distributor and takes care of people. They ofer a 6 month warranty, which is pretty standard for electric scooters.
      I didn't know about the spacer issue, I do hear some vibration from my rear suspension, so I'm wondering if it could be that? If it's a known issue, I'm sure it's fixed/resolved by now though. Overall I think it's a pretty good purchase for a scooter, and the value for the price is good.

      Get a life and use your brain. If there's nothing in sight, you're wasting your time standing at a red light. They are there for safety, not stupidity. If he's 100% sure it's safe, then he's fine. I skip red lights at night at 1am when no cars are around. It's stupid to stand there waiting for a light to change while you listen to the local animals fucking in the distance under the total silence. ;)

    • @AlienRides

      So many scooters I like it’s hard to choose, let’s see.
      - Dualtron X for a ridiculous tank for the zombie apocalypse.
      - Rion for riding at extreme speeds.
      - Wepeds for build quality.
      This scooter isn’t those, but is still a decent first monster scooter for those getting into it.

      This is the hardest question of the 2020s! 😁 Both are great scooters. I assume you're comparing the 60 volt 10x, against the mantis. Both 24ah of battery? They are basically very much equivalent I think, and you would be happy with either. Where are you located? I think that possibly a tie breaker for myself might be after sales support and service. I recommend fludifreeride for the Mantis (link in description), or revrides.com for the 10x (use coupon code AlienRides). Cheers and good luck with your decision!

      @@AlienRides That is what I am hoping, after all kaboo made the mantis, I read the quality of the build on the kaboo scooters are getting impressive, the 26 ah battery version is meant to be shockingly good, kaboo learnt from the zero's mistakes, same motors as the DT3, same controllers but the mantis is little bit faster overall, but the DT3 has more punch, from what i have seen on some vids, makes me think kaboo got more in the pipe line, even dualtron i would of thought, learn from mistakes of past designs will only result in so called monster scooters getting better, hopefully somebody will come out with a flying monster scooter, the real meaning of a bird (scooter), lol, look foward too seeing the Goblin in all it's glory, lol....................
