Nice homemade work, only one advise: every time you grind the valve seat you must to check the valve play before to start engine first time and after some km.
Let me do a question: why you don't rectify the head? Check the cooling water for oil traces and do a compression test to know if the works going to be good.

      Thanks : )
I did about the valves, but one week later.
I didn't rectify the head, simply because there is no need for that,it's flat.
Coolant is clean, and i didn't even think about testing for compression, the seats /valves were very nice after lapping.
The car need less choke on start ups,and pull more crisp, and is way more smooth : )

Valve keepers, What a bloody pain!!, a wood/plastic rod may of helped you move them.
Modified spark plug socket, very clever and cheap :-D
When it didn't start correctly i thought it can't be the engine as you did a loverly job :-D.
I heard the tapping and wondered why, so extra/thicker shims to lift the buckets, new springs difference maybe?.
No swearing in french?, i would swear with those dam valve keepers :-D

Yes those valves keepers were a pain in the butt, each time i thought they were seated correctly, they popped out lol
Yeah that socket was cheaper than a used valve compressor lol
I swapped two shims i don't know how,i was too distracted by the camera i think : one intake shim with one exhaust shim,so one valve had zero lash, whike the other had twice too much,so it was noisy.
I checked the valve adjustement ,and swapped them back,so it's all good now.
I adjusted one other shim ,just to be 100% "manual quality work" lol
It's super smooth and silent now,for a flat tappet engine i mean lol

      I'm sure you can.
You can do such things : just do it at the rythm you feel it's the good one for you.
complex tasks are simple ones, but just following each other lol
If you are interested by something, you can do a lot, simply because you understand it,or want to.
Get infos on the subject, simply mimic at first, and then understand how it does work, and how can you modify it,and how it will work then.
Or just blow up things, and try to see why it blew up (that's Research and development method aka the most scientific ever)

I'm not proud of my work,it's just work, mainly an obligation to obtain whatever direct or indirect result wanted ,or needed.
I'm happy of what it brings, from people,as comments or opinions ,or to people ,in helping or entertaining.
Being proud of your work is reducing you at your work, and what it brings you.
i think being honest with yourself while doing it, makes your work good, and you happy,by reflection.
