  • It can be very frustrating when dogs start peeing and pooping in the house, but why does it happen? Before blaming your dog for acting "out of spite" consider that there are many possible causes and several of them can be medical. Veterinarian Dr. Eric explains various causes for dogs who are peeing and pooping in the house.

My dog has been potty trained. She used to be able to wait all day. But now she’s been pooping and peeing a lot in the house. We went out the house for about 4 hours. We came back she had pooped on the carpet and peed 3 times. She had already pooped before we went out. And it even happens in the morning. I would really like to know why

Hi, there can be many possible causes. If she was always spot on, and now out of the blue she is having accidents, I would suggest to rule out medical issues by seeing the vet and explaining the situation. Medical issues aside, other causes can be stress, fear, recent changes, and if this happens when you are out of the home, possible separation anxiety should be considered.

Get a crate. Large enough so it can move around some. Before you leave let it outside to potty. When you get home take outside to potty. They wont poop where they have to site next to it for amount of time.

They know they did bad.Mine wont look at me when he poops orpees on the floor. Even when I don't know yet that he did it. THIS is proof that he knows what he did was wrong. Then when I take him to the spot and show him and he gets in trouble ,he pulls his mouth back and shows me his teeth to try to intimidate me. That's when I take him down and hold him down to show him IM THE BOSS ASS HOLE. So when you say the dog dont know they did wrong or why they are in trouble, YOUR WRONG. The last time my dog did this, and he does it because he is mad if he don't get to go for a ride with me. I put his chin in it so he gets to smell shit all day. This put a end to him shitting on my carpet. I dont care what ppl say. If you get home and your dog usually runs to door to greet you and because the dog shit on your floor and you dont even know it yet & they wont greet you or look at you THEY KNOW. Mine will look away look side to side and wont look at me or come to me when I call him if he shit on the floor . That's when I'd go look for the pile of poop. SO HOW CAN YOU SAY THEY DONT KNOW? I dont let him go for a ride with me if it's too hot to leave him in car as I run to store. But if I'm not getting out of car he gets to go. His pooping started at least a year after full potty training and it happened only when he was angry at me. I don't play that game. You shit in my house and I have to smell it and clean it then you get to smell it. I tried positive training and rewards when he didnt crap on the floor when he got angry. But that didn't work. But when he knows if he poops on floor equals smelling poop on his chin ,he don't do it anymore. This was the only thing that worked.

The guilty look has been debunked. Look at the latest studies. Dogs are responding to our body language or have come to associate something with us being upset. Dogs that soil when left alone are often suffering from separation anxiety.

    Hi.
So I have a Belgian malinois mixed with a boxer.
She loves her family very much.
She's 2 years old and up to a point has been potty train with success.
We went on a vacation to see my wife side of the family. We left Jojo with my parents on they're acreage where she ran free.
On returning home JoJo has been very depressed down in the slums.
A week or so went by.
JoJo had been outside three times prior to her accident inside the house.
my wife came home from dropping the kids off at daycare and discovered there was a smell in the house. Found it in our oldest child's bedroom.
Jojo spent the day in her kettle with food and water. JoJo has allowed to go outside in the evening.
The next day jojo was allowed back into her routine.
    A week later
Instead of telling my wife that JoJo needed to go outside. as they were playing fetch with each other JoJo turns looks my wife in the eyes and precedes to defecate.
    I work two jobs.
I still find time to take JoJo to the dog park three to four days for more than an hour. We go on daily walks in the morning.
She's allowed to have rawhides whenever she asked for them being a high-energy dog we know JoJo need stimulation.
But I can't understand why she is doing the things she's doing..

Hi there, it's a bit odd that Jojo has been depressed once back home. Usually, dogs are thrilled to be back with their owners. It could be there's something medically going that needs evaluated on or perhaps she enjoyed romping in the acreage and misses it. It would be interesting to see whether she perks up if you take her back to your parents place again.
Often recent changes in their routines and in the life can cause perfectly potty trained dogs to regress. This is listed as one potential cause of dogs having accidents in the home pethelpful.com/dogs/Why-Would-a-House-Trained-Dog-Start-Pooping-in-the-House. So I would say give her some time to get used to her usual routines. Ask your parents how often and when she was let out to potty. Ask if she ate different foods and at different times as diet changes can also cause increased bowel movements. Feed her on a schedule. Write down when she has accidents and take her about each day a little earlier than when she has accidents. Clean accidents with an enzyme-based cleaner. Have her checked by a vet to exclude anything medically going on.
Aim to teach her how to potty on command: pethelpful.com/dogs/How-to-Train-a-Dog-to-Go-Potty-on-Command. It may take time, but it can make life easier moving forward. I hope she goes back to her usual good potty training habits.

That dog would get put out of the house. They do it to be nasty because they are mad at you. Maybe you should give the dog to your parents where it wants to be.

Hi, I have an Australian Shepherd dog that I’m giving special training but for some reason he has one store that he poops in. He doesn’t go anywhere else just in that certain store. I’d just like to know why.

Maybe there's some smell of other dogs? Perhaps he just had an accident there, it felt good, so he made this his official bathroom area? Maybe you go to this store at the same time every time?

      @DogDiscoveries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@BigGirthyRod If it's fear-based, can you try to distract him with some treats so he gets his mind off pooping? Or do you think he would be too over threshold to eat? May be start with short trips there, like go in, feed a couple of treats and then out, until you can establish a routine and see if he calms down a bit. Then try to gradually increase time there. Are there other dogs in this store? Is he nervous to go on walks? or just this particular store? What do you think may worry him about this particular store? We had a female dog who was a bit anxious on walks and would poop 3-4 times as walks created hypermotility of her colon.

If she has been doing fine potty training and now out of the blue is having accidents, there may be an underlying medical issue at play. A vet visit may be a good place to start. Other causes are stress, fear, changes.

@@stbam1965 This is why rubbing a dogs nose in shit is the best way to stop it. I think Dogs dont respect weak pack leaders, humans have tried with varying degrees of success to domesticate the Wolf and make the many varieties of dogs.
In the Wild a Alpha Dog would hurt the younger pup on purpose, to teach them a strong lesson. For wild Dogs/Wolves it is do or die, survival above all else. Domesticated Dogs might not have that instinct to the same level but to think that dogs do not respect strong leaders, is naive at best.

Dogs don't understand the concept of being spiteful. If they don't like you, then they won't want to be around you, they may growl or bark, or stare you down. A dog isn't going to shit on the floor to make you mad. Dogs don't think like that😂. Do you really think a dog is going to intentionally shit in the floor as a spiteful prank towards their owner? C'mon now, this isn't a Pixar film...

@@DogDiscoveries YOUR SO WRONG. My bishon frise is potty trained. The only time he'd crap or pee on floor is when he is mad. If he wants to go with us when we leave and is begging and cant,THATS when he does it. When we get home and we dont know yet that he poped on carpet we can tell. He wont run to greet us and he wont look at us. We will call him and say COME HERE WANT A TREAT? He will look side to side and wont come to us. So then we go look to see if he poped in house and he did. Any other time when he dont poop when were are gone he runs to us and greets us.THEY KNOW!! So crate the dog when your gone. I got so sick of this behavior and smelling poop ,which I gag or throw up from the smell. So I showed him his poop, stuck his chin in it. Then said potty outside! Then he got put outside after i picked up the poop in paper towel and tossed it in the yard as i let him out. I said potty outside! It took only one time of having poop on his chin to stop this behavior for about 4 years. He did it again last month because he was mad at me because he couldnt go with me when I left. I put his chin in it and put him outside. I have not had a pile of poop since. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. If they act all guilty b4 you even see they poped in house then THATS A DEAD GIVE AWAY THAT THEY KNOW. This is why I dont understand how ppl can say " that they dont do it out of spite or that they dont know that they did wrong." Are ppl that ignorant ? Really!!!!
