One of the mechanisms central in Long COVID and vaccine-related illness appears to be an MCAS phenomenon. In this video Dr Jamie breaks down:
    - what the Mast Cell is
    - what triggers Mast Cell activation
    - what symptoms and conditions MCAS is involved in
    - how to diagnose MCAS
    - interventions which have been shown to be useful in in MCAS
As discussed, if you would like to join the weekly support sessions we now provide - you can do so through the above link.

The stress comes from lack of acknowledgement of the conditions existence - certainly my experience in Australia - it’s appalling that we were forced to take something that has caused this reaction - very informative video though, thanks

I reacted 5mins after first and only shot - paralysis palpitations flushing drooling and difficulty speaking and swallowing and I STILL got zero acknowledgment then or now.

I am super confused if the skin writings because of covid or the vaccine as I got it a month or two after being exposed to covid. And none of my doctors believe that my condition is because of covid🙃

Are there dosage recommendations for Quercetin and Luteolin? Should they be taken daily? Can those supplements be taken safely with over-the-counter antihistamines like Benadryl? Thanks!

I usually suggest taking Quercetin at most 1g a day while working out what is triggering the activated state - higher doses of flavonoids like this can inhibit enzymes in the gut and liver, so it is better to maintain lower doses for a longer period of time.. I usually try to use a combination supplement with luteolin in it, and most doses will be between 100-300mg. I am not aware of any interaction between quercetin and prescription medication like Benadryl, there does not seem to be any research suggesting this, but that may because it has not been studied so you should consult your doctors advice first.. Quercetin will have more global beneficial effects and interact with the body differently to prescription antihistamines though so I would think it would be complimentary..

I have fungus, mold, and toxins. What do you suggest I tackle first to cure my MCAS? Or does order even matter with regard to root causes? Thanks

I would suggest stress and foods.

My daughter has palpitations 30 minutes after meals for 1-2 hours, regardless of what she ate (long covid). Does this fit for mcas in your opinion (I know you can only give a good guess without seeing the patient - I would appriciate your good guess)?

Hi Angelika - yes, this would fit MCAS as histamine can be released by mast cells fairly rapidly after eating, which can in turn trigger adrenaline responses in the body and palpitations. It would be necessary to take a full history and look at everything else going on to say for certain though as you say..

You could try a low histamine diet to see if that helps the symptoms

    Is this an autoimmune condition?

Kind of… its a genetic mutation in mast cells that triggers overreaction

As I understand it, when the mast cells gets triggered, confused, they starting to fight a healthy parts of the body. The skin, the bowels etc. Which causes a skin disease like psoriasis, crohn disease, graves, disease etc. Could be anything. You body starts to fight healthy tissue. The mast cells are the cause of all auto immune diseases. Is that correct?

Does long covid cause Mcas or Mcas causes long covid?

Great question! In my experience there is often evidence of brewing histamine/mcas issues in peoples past history when we look back, which then gets significantly amplified by the viral infection and 'turned into' a obvious MCAS state which is part of the Long COVID experience for them.

MCAS is a disorder that sometimes occurs with other disorders like hEDS (hyper mobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome). This also commonly includes POTS.
