I've just came across your channel and wanted to buy half a dozen new Ranchu but looked at your page and seen you are on the opposite side of the pond, oh well!

Hello! Yes I wish it was possible for me to ship internationally. For a small operation such as myself it is not possible.

@@thompsonglass Haha yeah fully understandable, your fish are really some of the best I've seen outside of SE Asia though!

How deep is the pond? Also Schedule of Waterchanges? Feeding Schedule Too?? I usually feed 3 times a day Omega pellets. Thanks

I keep adult ranchu in 10-12 inches of water. 100% water changes happen as needed by moving the ranchu into a fresh pond, typically every 4-7 days, but this pond is extra large so its sometimes possible to go longer. I typically feed 2-3 times per day depending on the temp of the water and time of year. I like the Omega1 goldfish pellet a lot, its very high quality food, better than most other goldfish pellets and I use it for my less important stock. I use the azayaka pellet from Japan for all my most important ranchu.

hi love ur fish can I ask I live in Ireland which is not the coldest or hottest of places but what is the best temp for the Ranchu?

    • @thompsonglass

Hi & thanks! I live in a high desert and temps can certainly be a challenge here at 4000 ft elevation on the 45th parallel. Winters are too long and too cold. Summers are hot but can still be cool during nighttime. Ranchu can thrive in a variety of temperatures, it important to carefully watch the ranchu and know what they are telling you. If you are in a coastal region of Ireland you may be in a very suitable climate for ranchu. Ranchu thrive when they can be given a cold winter hibernation of approx 4.5 deg.C for around 2 months. When they warm up in the spring their natural spawning response will be activated. In the summer if the water get warmer than 26.5 deg.C I will take precautions such as increased aeration, provide shade to the ponds and decrease feedings.

There was a durable + strong topper made from 2x4 welded wire fencing in place at all times on this pond when it was out in the yard. I took the lid off for the video obviously. Now this pond is in my 27x70' greenhouse.
