      Hello! This video is old, but I was keeping them outdoors during the warm months and in a greenhouse during the winter. A few years ago I built a large greenhouse and I keep all my ranchu in there year round

    Nước trong quá, không có cảm giác là tụi nó đang bơi trong nước luôn, mà phơi nắng như vậy không ảnh hưởng gì à bạn?

    What are the dimensions of this pond and what surface area per fish do you recommend for max growth and development?

    • @thompsonglass
      @thompsonglass  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! This pond is 6 feet square and around 11 inches deep. stocking density will vary with the water temp, time of year age of the ranchu, feeding levels and other factors.

    How deep is the pond? And is the deepness a big impact on growth?

    • @thompsonglass
      @thompsonglass  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This water is around 10 inches deep. Japanese ranchu do best in shallow water to help preserve the tail shape. Deep water will create more water pressure on the tail and can have a negative impact on the tail shape.

    do you heat the pond or move them indoors?
    or are you just in a warm climate

    • @thompsonglass
      @thompsonglass  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +jessica horner Hi! I am in a cold climate so I bring them into my greenhouse and heat the water to 40degF during the winter (otherwise it will freeze solid). Ranchu are meant to live with the seasons so giving them a cold hibernation will activate strong spawning activity with the spring warm up.
