So did you get the starter bundle that comes with everything you mite need or did you buy everything separate I am actually debating on this one right now I just ordered my heat press 15 x 15 craft pro
Thank you so much you just don't know how lost I was until I found your video. You help to remove the fear of making a mistake. You have a new subscriber. Thanks for sharing and thumbs up!
I’m not sure why I commented you can. Must have been an accident lol. I actually have a cameo 4 and I hate it! You can’t connect a usb to it and it doesn’t have a “repeat job” option. Also the registration detection has been a pain. I’ve got it to recognize the registration marks maybe twice. It also had a weird glitch and spat my mat out super fast and into my face (I have it at eye level)
I just received my silhouette today. I never ever had an electronic diecutting machine before. So I appreciate you showed me step by step how I should set up everything. Definitely I will stick around the channel for more great videos. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this! It looks as though everything is included in order to get going, but I wanted to make sure, is there anything else I need to purchase (I am completely new to cutting machines)? I see it comes with a mat, but what about a weeding tool? Thanks again!
Just receive my Cameo 4 for my birthday. Got it installed following the easy steps. Could you please tell me where do you get the free designs you show on your video. Thank you
Needed in the video is a major part about how to get the Cameo4 software onto your computer. Yes, I did the download- but it did not put and icon on my desktop to find. I had to go into the Download files on the top of my open Internet file (the one where there is a little down arrow to show recently downloaded files) and once I opened that up it showed 5 files with strange names. I guess that these were from the SIlhouette dowload I did and guessed that I needed to open the .exe =file first before I opened exe1, exe2, exe3, exe4 and exe5. I am not savy enough to find this new file in my pc. My fix was to save one new file and create a new FOLDER and marked it cameo4 stuff. Now when I want to open the SIlhouette Program, I can go to the FILE I had to create as a template. Love your video though, Thank you very much. 🙂
I just received my Cameo 4 yesterday and I’m finding I’d difficult to try to get started. I just wish that it would come with more detail get started book.
We have more Cameo 4 videos in the pipeline. Hopefully we can have those completed and uploaded sooner rather than later. I also recommend joining either our Facebook group (heat.press/FBgroup) or the All Things Silhouette Facebook Group. There are lots of helpful peers on there who have great insight on using the Cameo and other Silhouette products.
Wow i feel it's gonna work this time, I bought my Baby (cameo4) in December and I'v been struggling to get started, the software is loaded everything is in place but It doesn't do the test cut after watching this I think I selected the wrong vinyl sheet in your video you say HT smooth, I'm gonna do just that when I get home, Thank you🙏 Your video is so straight forward I'm sure it's gonna work this time around

You can cut graphics out of adhesive decal vinyl, like Siser EasyPSV or EasyPSV Patterns. You can see an example of how we customized a notebook in this video: th-cam.com/video/7uQAzVgSplk/w-d-xo.html
Oh no! We recommend using quality heat transfer products, like those found on our site. In this video we used Siser EasyWeed Heat Transfer Vinyl. heat.press/easyweed
Yes. When pressing multi-color designs with HTV, each color layer requires its own separate cut and press. If you want, you can check out this episode of "HeatPressNation LIVE" where we press a couple projects with multiple layers of HTV: th-cam.com/video/KDXpbVCZI4g/w-d-xo.html
If you stored your designs on the cloud, they should automatically load in Silhouette Studio (must be logged into the same account). The software is the same and those old files will work perfectly when cut on the new machine.
Just got my Cameo 4 yesterday. Can’t use the USB cord with my MacBook, doesn’t fit. I was glad to see I could use Bluetooth, however the Firmware needs to be updated & can’t done without a USB chord plug in. VERY disappointing. Now I’m ordering an adapter from Best Buy. Hoping this works, but then won’t really need Bluetooth, if it even works ( others have had problems connecting). Also, your library of free 100 designs looks very different than mine. Are those some purchased ones too? I don’t have any of the ones you show in this video. Good video, just sad it didn’t come together that easy for me
I feel your pain! My Macbook Pro only has USB-C ports, which basically works with android phones and nothing else. LOL. I had to get an adapter to use it with all my printers, cameo, etc. As for the 100 free designs, I believe Silhouette recently updated that library. The 100-pack you seen in this video have been around for a while now, so I'm glad they updated it. The newer ones are a lot nicer in my opinion. -Jared
The Cameo 3 and newer machines have an automatic blade. Set your blade depth in Silhouette Studio and the machine will automatically adjust the blade for you. Some older blades (ratchet blade) or other tools may require a manual adjustment.
@@HeatPressNation I did my first cut came out pretty cool I had words - some of the words peeled up .. what do you believe was the cause of this ( they were small too ) Would it have something to do with the blade debth?
Yes! You can use adhesive decal vinyl like Siser EasyPSV Removeable (heat.press/PSVrem) to create single-use stencils. The Cameo is also capable of cutting thin plastic stencil material, but you may need the Kraft Blade (heat.press/kraftblade)
With any new product & new software, there are bound to be minor bugs that get fixed along the way. From iPhones to Teslas, that's just how it goes. Silhouette has been awesome with listening to customer feedback and releasing software updates as needed to correct these issues. You can even check out the release notes for every update to Silhouette Studio to see just how much they've improved their product in the short time since their launch: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software
The Silhouette Cameo comes with a free month's subscription to the Silhouette Design Store. You can test it out the subscription to see if you like it. Besides that, I'm not sure what other monthly apps you'd pay for to use this machine?
was debating between this or the 15" plus. But I'll probably will go with this. For making shirts, a width of 12" is already big enough for designs, so I'm basically saving myself $100 bucks.
The main advantage of having a 15" cutter like the Cameo Plus is being able to use the full roll of HTV. You can still load a 15" roll of HTV into the Cameo4 . However, you'll lose about 3.4" on every piece, since the Cameo 4 only cuts up to 11.6" wide when loading rolls directly into the cutter. On a 5yd roll, that's over 600sq.in. of material that's wasted.
I bought a cameo 4 yesterday sadly i had to return it wasnt functiining well it was refusing to cut even when i chnaged the settings the vinyl wouldnt stay steady it would crumbled it i watched so many yt videos but none worked for me unfortunately i wish i wouldve gotten the same results as everyone else u made it look so easy and flawless
So sorry to hear that! If it was a faulty machine, I'm sure a replacement unit would work just fine. If you purchased from us, we offer free lifetime technical support. So you can call our team at they can assist you with getting your cutter to work 100%.
No, the Designer Edition upgrade is a 1-time thing. So even when you upgrade the software version (i.e. from 4.2 to 4.3), it will remain the Designer Edition of that version.
It does not require a mat for materials with a carrier sheet (HTV, 651, etc). Those can be loaded straight into the Cameo. However, I personally find it easier to use a cutting mat with the Cameo. It's especially advantageous when cutting smaller sheets or scraps of HTV, and using the print & cut feature. If I'm not mistaken, a cutting mat is also required when cutting fabric, applique, and similar materials. -Jared
In this video we're using a Silhouette Cameo 4, which uses the newer Autoblade Type B. The Autoblade Type A is the older version which is for the Cameo 3 and Portrait 2.
Here is a great resource from Silhouette on what to do if your registration is failing: www.silhouetteamerica.com/faq/solution/print-and-cut-registration-failure-or-cutting-off If you are still having difficulty, please feel free to reach out to our Technical Support department at support.heatpressnation.com or by calling (800)215-0894. does any design have to have a shape around it in order for the machine to cut? or why did you put the rectangle shape if you didn't use it on the t-shirt?
Can this trace and cut a towel material that can be used for embroidery and not for heat ransfer/Velvet materials? Also is it possible to create a fresh design with Cameo studio?
We haven't tested this with towel material yet. There are some channels that have Silhouette-exclusive content and they might have a better answer for you on that. Yes, it's definitely possible to create original designs inside of Silhouette Studio, which comes free with your Cameo. We have several basic tutorials on how to use the design tools, point editing, etc. th-cam.com/play/PLY9aNS49KtIxIyNxrMamGzgrk9uldI6hF.html
Not a stupid question at all! The Cameo is designed as a craft cutter, capable of cutting TONS of materials - like cardstock, leather, thin balsa wood, and lots more. It also happens to cut vinyl beautifully, so it's rightfully become a top choice for folks who want an affordable and easy-to-use cutting machine to start making t-shirts with heat transfer vinyl (HTV).
This may be a stupid question, but did you choose those 100 free shapes in your library or did they come preselected? If you chose them, are you free to choose any shapes and fonts from the store? Thank you for your time
In-stock orders ship within 1-2 business days. You should receive an email with tracking information once your order ships. This tracking info will have the most accurate estimate of when you can expect delivery.
@@HeatPressNation Alright, I ordered the “Siser EasyWeed HTV 11.8" x 5yd Roll (White)”.. I noticed that when you used the green HTV the lettering came out green, if i print a colored design will it also come out as white? What HTV do i get if I want my designs to come out multiple color and not just one solid color?
What if i cut matless but my vinyl is just right at the edge of the lock? do i put the lock in the next lock slot leaving 3 inches of vinyl free on the right from the lock or do i put the lock unlocked wherever i feel it would be best? 😬
So sorry, but we don't have any pricing or availability information for your region. Please visit www.silhouetteamerica.com/international-distributors to find the dealer nearest you.
That's the carrier sheet. HTV comes on a sticky, clear plastic carrier sheet. This helps keep the vinyl in place and all together while the cutter cuts out the shapes. After you peel off the vinyl that you don't want on your tee, the remaining vinyl is held on the carrier sheet. This is what's pressed on the garment. After pressing, peel off the plastic carrier sheet and the vinyl will stay permanently on the garment.
You can create sticker decals with the Cameo 4 + adhesive decal vinyl, like in this video: th-cam.com/video/4SuVU-NB2DI/w-d-xo.html. You can buy adhesive decal vinyl here: www.heatpressnation.com/collections/adhesive-sticker-vinyl If you're wanting to create full-color stickers, you'll need a print & cut machine - like the Roland Versacamm. (We don't carry these types of machines at HPN)
@@HeatPressNation just bought the cameo 4 , yes the standard blade cannot cut 2mm thickness, I also change to deep cut blade, but the cut is not clean tho, Do you think the craft blade can cut deeper than 2mm?
I purchased the deluxe but see the basic is what opens. I have no idea how to make this work and can't find help anywhere. Their customer service has not responded
If you purchased the Designer or Business Edition software upgrade, there should have been a code that was provided to you. Open up Silhouette Studio, then go to "help", then click on "Upgrade Silhouette Studio". There you will be able to input all your information to upgrade your software.
The Silhouette Cameo 4 comes with Silhouette Studio for free. Silhouette Studio is a design program that allows you to create graphics that can be cut with your Cameo 4. You also get access to the Silhouette Design Store, which has thousands of cut-ready graphics available for purchase and download.
The font style is part of that graphic. So we didn't change anything. You can type up whatever you want using the text tool in Silhouette Studio. The program automatically loads all compatible fonts that you have saved on your computer. When you install a new font on your computer, it will automatically show up in Silhouette Studio the next time you open the program.
There isn't an app at this time. You'll need a computer. The Cameo 4 is compatible with both PC's and Mac computers running either Windows or Mac iOS. For more compatibility details, please visit our site: heat.press/CAMEO4
Yes, it can do both. But the jobs will run one after the other. So it will run the cut job first, then the emboss job after. But no need to switch out tools or anything like that. Just have the blade in one holder and the emboss tool in the other.
When I do a test cut it cuts the edge of the mat outside of the vinyl. I tried copying you trying to mimic how you placed it on the mat and how you loaded the mat. I have a 4 plus.
So I had the same issue and then found out you have to adjust the blade to the corner of your paper by using the glowing arrows. I'm no expert though just learning it all myself right now!
It might be able to get through some super-duper thin acrylic. But I think you'd probably be more interested in a laser cutter, like a Glowforge. Those cut & engrave thicker acrylic, wood, leather, etc.
The Cameo 4 can still cut sheets and rolls without the cutting mat! You'll only need to adjust the rollers to your material's width before loading to the Cameo.
Hi, just got my Cameo 4 and couldn’t figure out where to find the free images that you just showed here :( I don’t see it in my library, where can I find it? TIA
Just bought the cameo pro and spent 4 hours trying to register the machine and I can’t. Do I have to use the big mat to register the machine for the very first time? Then after that can I cut without using the mat?
You can load vinyl directly into the Cameo without a mat. However, you will need to use the cutting mat when contour cutting. If you purchased your Cameo 4 from HeatPressNation, please reach out to our MyExpert Support Team at support.heatpressnation.com or (800)215-0894. They are available Monday - Friday, from 7:30am-3:00pm PT and will be happy to assist you.
That's awesome! The HPN CraftPro is a great starter heat press. It has a slide-out lower platen, which makes positioning your garments and transfers WAY easier, safer, and more efficient. That's my favorite feature by a long-shot, since I've burned myself on heat presses that don't have a slide-out lower platen. The CraftPro comes in either a 13"x9" or 15"x15" size: heat.press/CraftPro. There's also a swing-away model available, but I prefer the "clamshell" models. We have lots of other presses available too. Feel free to call our MyExpert reps at (800)215-0894 from Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:00pm Pacific Time if you'd like to get more info on other options. -Jared
Yes, as of the time of this comment, the most current version of Silhouette Studio is 4.4.476. This version is compatible with both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and newer.
Try these steps: - Use a cutting mat - Position the roller wheels properly on each side of the mat - Make sure your cut settings are correct. If the blade is exposed too far and/or if there is too much force, it could ruin your media.
Quick question in order to start printing all the materials I will need is a cameo, the heat press machine, and a laptop correct? Of course I know about the vinyl etc… but as far as the main core pieces are those three items that I listed all that I need?
We recommend getting a computer so you can take full advantage of the awesome (free) Silhouette Studio software. There is an app called Silhouette GO, which will allow you to send existing designs to your bluetooth-enabled Silhouette Cutter. As of right now, this app is for existing designs only and cannot be used to design/create new graphics. For an overview of the app, check out this video from Silhouette: th-cam.com/video/6T34wnwJnQM/w-d-xo.html
If you purchased your Cameo from HeatPressNation.com, please feel free to call our technical support team at (800)215-0894 for assistance. They will be able to best assist you. If you purchased your Cameo from another retailer, we recommend contacting them or Silhouette directly for support.
There is a blue line on the left side of the cutter, next to the left roller. That roller is stationary and doesn't move. Your material/cutting mat should always line up on the left with that line. You can adjust the right roller to fit your material by sliding it across the roller bar until it locks into one of the notches that best fits your material.

In this video we're using a Silhouette Cameo 4, which uses the newer Autoblade Type B.
The Autoblade Type A is the older version which is for the Cameo 3 and Portrait 2.
This is great!! Thank you!!
Do you deliver to England
Sorry, but we only ship within the United States.
Hi can this machine does half cut ?
Great video the issue I'm running into is that II get an error when it comes to the registration part it keeps telling me it fails registration
Here is a great resource from Silhouette on what to do if your registration is failing: www.silhouetteamerica.com/faq/solution/print-and-cut-registration-failure-or-cutting-off
If you are still having difficulty, please feel free to reach out to our Technical Support department at support.heatpressnation.com or by calling (800)215-0894. For faster service, please have your order number on-hand when calling.
what do the cut setting actually mean?
does any design have to have a shape around it in order for the machine to cut? or why did you put the rectangle shape if you didn't use it on the t-shirt?
That box around the design is called a weed box. It's not necessary for all cuts, but it does help save the unused portion of the sheet of vinyl.
Stupid question, but this isn't just a vinyl cutter right? I can use paper? I have my own designs with multiple colors!
@@HeatPressNation Thank you for your reply.
Mine is cutting thru the mat and vinyl... Adjusted it and still no help🥺
Awesome love it
can you send the setup? of your cameo
Which part of the setup are you needing more information on?
Looking forward with this cameo4.. love it... 😊😊🥰
This may be a stupid question, but did you choose those 100 free shapes in your library or did they come preselected? If you chose them, are you free to choose any shapes and fonts from the store? Thank you for your time
Not stupid at all! The 100 free shapes are pre-selected and the same for everyone.
How long does it take for the Pro-Grade sheet to deliver?
In-stock orders ship within 1-2 business days. You should receive an email with tracking information once your order ships. This tracking info will have the most accurate estimate of when you can expect delivery.
@@HeatPressNation Alright, I ordered the “Siser EasyWeed HTV 11.8" x 5yd Roll (White)”.. I noticed that when you used the green HTV the lettering came out green, if i print a colored design will it also come out as white? What HTV do i get if I want my designs to come out multiple color and not just one solid color?
Please tell which vinyl you have used in this video.. and can you tell me.. what should be the..
Blade Depth
Force
Speed
For 3M vinyl..??
Where to get that softwarr free ware ya paid
Silhouette Studio is included for free with all Cameo cutters. If you have a Cameo (or other Silhouette machine), go to silhouetteamerica.com/software
What if i cut matless but my vinyl is just right at the edge of the lock? do i put the lock in the next lock slot leaving 3 inches of vinyl free on the right from the lock or do i put the lock unlocked wherever i feel it would be best? 😬
You want the wheel to be fully over the vinyl. If any portion of the wheel isn't making contact with the vinyl, move it over or use the cutting mat.
How do you change the blade extension
The Auto Blade is set in the computer, in the output section on Silhouette Studio. Other blades are set manually, usually by twisting the base.
Im in South Africa where can i get the Cameo 4 and how much
So sorry, but we don't have any pricing or availability information for your region. Please visit www.silhouetteamerica.com/international-distributors to find the dealer nearest you.
What is the clear piece thats stuck to the vinyl? @7:24 what is that piece called anybody let me know ASAP
HeatPressNation thanks that was helpful , vinyl and heat transfer vinyl are two different things?
What printer do you use to make stickers?
You can create sticker decals with the Cameo 4 + adhesive decal vinyl, like in this video: th-cam.com/video/4SuVU-NB2DI/w-d-xo.html. You can buy adhesive decal vinyl here: www.heatpressnation.com/collections/adhesive-sticker-vinyl
If you're wanting to create full-color stickers, you'll need a print & cut machine - like the Roland Versacamm. (We don't carry these types of machines at HPN)
Have a cricut thinking of getting this instead? It this better
wow nice product, can it cut with 2mm thickness? for smooth leather sheet and rubber sheet
Yes. You will need to use the Kraft blade to cut thicker items, as the standard blade won't cut deep enough.
@@HeatPressNation just bought the cameo 4 , yes the standard blade cannot cut 2mm thickness, I also change to deep cut blade, but the cut is not clean tho,
Do you think the craft blade can cut deeper than 2mm?
I purchased the deluxe but see the basic is what opens. I have no idea how to make this work and can't find help anywhere. Their customer service has not responded
If you purchased the Designer or Business Edition software upgrade, there should have been a code that was provided to you. Open up Silhouette Studio, then go to "help", then click on "Upgrade Silhouette Studio". There you will be able to input all your information to upgrade your software.
Hi! What resources do you use to cut with? Thanks! - Aida
3:38 it automatically change font like that? I uploaded a pic on studio but how to make the font like that?
The font style is part of that graphic. So we didn't change anything. You can type up whatever you want using the text tool in Silhouette Studio. The program automatically loads all compatible fonts that you have saved on your computer. When you install a new font on your computer, it will automatically show up in Silhouette Studio the next time you open the program.
Thank you for this video help me make my first cutout.!!!!!!!
You're welcome! Happy to help :)
Can this be used with a tablet or smart phone or do I need an actual computer ?
There isn't an app at this time. You'll need a computer. The Cameo 4 is compatible with both PC's and Mac computers running either Windows or Mac iOS.
For more compatibility details, please visit our site: heat.press/CAMEO4
No nor do chromebooks
Can this cut and emboss at the same time? For example, if cutting gift boxes, will it just cut and I have to do the embossing, or will it do both?
Yes, it can do both. But the jobs will run one after the other. So it will run the cut job first, then the emboss job after. But no need to switch out tools or anything like that. Just have the blade in one holder and the emboss tool in the other.
@@HeatPressNation NICE! Thank you very much for your response 😁!
@@HeatPressNation
The emboss tool? Link please
Does it come off when washed?
if it must to use that sheet which you stuck the vinyl on it? or I can simple use it without the board?
You can load most vinyl directly into the cutter, though we prefer to use the cutting mat.
my cameo 3 is messing up with the new software. it’s cutting too hard or not at all.
Try reverting back to the previous version. You can download legacy editions of Silhouette Studio here: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software
I'm no expert though just learning it all myself right now!
this can cut acrylic?
It might be able to get through some super-duper thin acrylic. But I think you'd probably be more interested in a laser cutter, like a Glowforge. Those cut & engrave thicker acrylic, wood, leather, etc.
Still have my cameo 3, but that looks nice. I'd like to know if the cutting mat is mandatory now or can I keep cutting without it as I currently do?
The Cameo 4 can still cut sheets and rolls without the cutting mat! You'll only need to adjust the rollers to your material's width before loading to the Cameo.
Hi, just got my Cameo 4 and couldn’t figure out where to find the free images that you just showed here :( I don’t see it in my library, where can I find it? TIA
Check out Step 3 in the setup instructions for details on how to access that: www.silhouetteamerica.com/setup/en/0/12/steps
My wife and I got a cameo 4, each from work today free, i really wanna try them out but i still need a heat press any recommended?
That's awesome! The HPN CraftPro is a great starter heat press. It has a slide-out lower platen, which makes positioning your garments and transfers WAY easier, safer, and more efficient. That's my favorite feature by a long-shot, since I've burned myself on heat presses that don't have a slide-out lower platen. The CraftPro comes in either a 13"x9" or 15"x15" size: heat.press/CraftPro. There's also a swing-away model available, but I prefer the "clamshell" models.
We have lots of other presses available too. Feel free to call our MyExpert reps at (800)215-0894 from Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:00pm Pacific Time if you'd like to get more info on other options.

hi i need help in cutting my thermflex plus vinyl using my cameo 4
What's the problem? Is the cutter not cutting deep enough?
Can the software be downloaded with Windows 7?
Yes, as of the time of this comment, the most current version of Silhouette Studio is 4.4.476. This version is compatible with both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and newer.
@@HeatPressNation Thank you for your reply :)
I have a serious problem with the cameo stopping or crumbling the paper and I literally do not know what else to do
Try these steps:
- Use a cutting mat
- Position the roller wheels properly on each side of the mat
- Make sure your cut settings are correct. If the blade is exposed too far and/or if there is too much force, it could ruin your media.
Great video thank you
i like that cutting machine
I’ll keep my cameo 3 and take that upgraded heat press instead!
Not a bad choice! ;)
Quick question in order to start printing all the materials I will need is a cameo, the heat press machine, and a laptop correct? Of course I know about the vinyl etc… but as far as the main core pieces are those three items that I listed all that I need?
@@dwightd9939 In order to use this like in the video, those are the three products you need. That is correct.
@@MeOhMyOh2324 thanks
But how do you load the blade? I am super new so do I leave the backing on the vinyl? This leaves way too many questions unanswered
2:21 👍
Can I use my phone?cas I don't have a computer for the software
We recommend getting a computer so you can take full advantage of the awesome (free) Silhouette Studio software.
There is an app called Silhouette GO, which will allow you to send existing designs to your bluetooth-enabled Silhouette Cutter. As of right now, this app is for existing designs only and cannot be used to design/create new graphics.
For an overview of the app, check out this video from Silhouette: th-cam.com/video/6T34wnwJnQM/w-d-xo.html
I follow every step but when I go to send it the button won't work and the test button either. What am I doing wrong
If you purchased your Cameo from HeatPressNation.com, please feel free to call our technical support team at (800)215-0894 for assistance. They will be able to best assist you.
If you purchased your Cameo from another retailer, we recommend contacting them or Silhouette directly for support.
Hi Im from Philippines, if I order in your website for Cameo4 is the delivery to my country address possible?
Hi there! Unfortunately, we currently only ship within the US and Canada. We apologize for the inconvenience,
Can I use this machine to cut logos and brand names like Intel or Logitech or something like that?
Where do I line it up on the rollers
There is a blue line on the left side of the cutter, next to the left roller. That roller is stationary and doesn't move. Your material/cutting mat should always line up on the left with that line. You can adjust the right roller to fit your material by sliding it across the roller bar until it locks into one of the notches that best fits your material.
