What a blessing you are to those who are trying to set up these machines for personal or business use. Sometimes it's so difficult to figure out...you've made it easy to understand! :)
Mary, I love the Cameo 4. There is a bit of a learning curve for those who have never used a die cutting machine, but I think you gave a good, simple overview of how to use it. For those who have one and are intimidated by it, just play around with it. I made the mistake of literally cutting up my first cutting mat because I didn't have the blade set correctly. Once I figured out the problem, it was smooth sailing. I learned to troubleshoot the challenges I faced by looking at a variety of videos here on TH-cam. I have designed t-shirts, pillow covers, and wall decals. The thing about it that I love the most is that you can import your own designs and aren't limited to proprietary designs as the Cricut requires.
I love that you are knowledgeable in this area.. Can you do tutorials on some of the designs you do ? - I'm loving this idea - I was going to get a Cricut due to a friend's suggestion from her using it.. but wow.. leaning more towards the Cameo 4
@@lisamw101 I wish I could help you out with this, but I'm an educator and school just got underway again. I'm swamped with teaching online. I will advise that you do a search for whatever project you want to tackle. I promise you that someone has a TH-cam channel for it. But decide what you want to do first and then look for examples. If you just look at others and not have in mind what you want to do, it will overwhelm you. I hope this helps. 💚

I bought the Cameo 4 back in March before all the virus stuff started. I haven't even began to open the box and use it. So much going on with grandkids out of school and my brother was so ill with cancer and just passed on August 10th. ~ Trying to get in the mood to move forward.with it. I got a great price on the Cameo 4 at the time at Joanna Fabrics on sale. So wish me luck. My gal pal (Helen) and I watch your videos with great anticipation; and always looking forward to a new one. I have been looking at either a Cameo or a Cricut and I have to say I am a little intimidated by them so watching you teach us how to use one I think I can learn to use one. I’m trying to decide whether to purchase a Silhouette or Cricut so this was very helpful. Most comparison reviews say that Silhouette is a little more technical where the Cricut is a little more user friendly. However, the Silhouette software allows more design freedom than Cricut. You make the set up and use look so easy. Thank you for taking the time to walk through it.
You'll find excellent pros and cons to support each brand. lol That's what made it so frustrating when I decided to upgrade. I've had both and still use my Silhouette. But it's all personal preference. I still find the Silhouette software lacking and buggy no matter what level or upgrade or version. But I still prefer it over the Cricut.
I started with a Cricut and moved to the Cameo and love it. I agree Laura G the Cameo does have an offset feature which I use all the time for scrapbooking and the Cricut does not.

I learned everything I needed to know for my first cut in this video, without all the extra confusing stuff! I bought the CAMEO 4, it wouldn't connect to my Mac Book Pro. Tried calling the company, no one answered, only got a recorded message that hangs up on you. Then 9 days later they emailed me after I had emailed and tried chatting with them numerous times. Their email offered no help. I am glad it works for you. Is an awful company to deal with, read many reviews of other people having the same trouble. I wish you luck with it!!! I bought the Cricut, it works perfectly. Always love your videos!!!

So glad to see you upgraded. Not a bad price, although the colors are a little more money. I have a cricut explore air 2 and love it. I just have to start using it more often, which I do plan too because I have some projects that I want to create. I agree with you on the transfer tape, I have wasted vinyl and contact paper because the transfer tape was way too sticky. Love the vinyl pumpkin decal.

@@sylviamosely7053 Did you buy a laptop already? I could recommend one based on your budget and needs. One tip is to look for a good deal on a used laptop - usually you can get much better performance for less money by doing that.

I must have purchased my cameo 4 about the same day you did based on the date of the video. I had an old cricut that I hated, and therefore hadn't used in a long time. So, I'm not a beginner. Your video was exactly what I needed. A new to the cameo 4 but not to cutting machines video. I love your furniture videos, too. I will next watch your how to make large signs. I actually paint banners for farmers market vendors, but want to try using heat transfer vinyl instead of paint.

I do have a cameo and would love more videos on how to do things. Like how to download fonts and how to create your own designs so you don’t have to buy them. There are endless things you could teach us! You are the one I watched when I first got mine and you taught me so much already!!

Go over to the upper right side. It will say "store". You can buy fonts off of the store and it send them right to your machine to use when purchased. Like that very minute. They have deals of the day and week. You can get them pretty cheap! Hope this helped.

@@ellascottagecompany2044 when your on silhouette as you are going to make a saying. I the upper right corner it says store. Click on that and look over the fonts. When you pick some out to buy they go directly to your machine as soon as you pay. The have some free ones too. Let me know if that helps. 😊

I’m so happy you made this video! I bought a Cameo last year after watching you. I had such a horrible time making my first cut. Honestly it was so over shelling I have not tried again. I’m getting a new computer and want to make another go at it. You make it look so easy. I just used some vinyl I got at Hobby Lobby and it just did not cut good. I had a horrible time pulling apart and just gave up. Again thanks for the video!!

I have a cricut machine and I took it out of the box once. Looked at it and put it back in the box and now it's in my basement. It was so overwhelming for me. I am not techy at all and I haven't touched it since. So maybe you have inspired me to revisit it.

When I got mine for Christmas this past year , I was completely overwhelmed with it. I’m learning very little at a time. I can do signs and that is about it. I know there is MUCH MORE POTENTIAL for it.... but I’m comfortable with what I am doing now......SO IF ANYTHING STANDS STILL FOR TOO LONG...IT MAY GET A SIGN PUT ON IT !! LOL!!! I do enjoy it.
Get it out of the box and maybe find someone who has one to walk you through basic steps ? ☹️.
Good luck and I totally understand ( even You Tube tutorials didn’t help...they had buttons and screens mine does not have! But they may have been on a computer verses an IPad ? 😳)

I watch all of your videos and sometimes my husband watches too. I have been trying to decide whether to buy a new Cricut or the Cameo. My old Cricut can not be used with there on line system. You made a great video that has made up my mind, it's the Cameo for sure! Personally I would love to learn how to do more by watching more videos you produce on the Cameo! But I watch them all anyway, ha ha!
