Hi David great video and it seems like a very quiet place and it's not far away from Jomtien. I'm looking forward for part2. Have a excellent day David and Nong take care and stay safe my friends. sawatdeekhrap kopkounmakkrap. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
David, can’t believe how much has changed since last April in Soi 5 . Pret is new , Bistro & Bar , GrandDaddy House , Kraken Lanta ( which logo reminds me of a Rhum I have at home ) , Mike’s Mexican was Two Phum Puy previous , Benny’s . Will be back in 47 days for my 8th stay in Thailand since 2010. Starting a business does not seem to be very difficult for Thai. Thx for the update .
cheers David, great look-see around the Pratumnak area. The little coffee and pastry shop just down from Cobra Lounge (4:39) is fantastic. Some of the best pastries and croissants I've tasted and decent coffee as well. I've been keeping an eye on prices in this area and it's certainly popular if they are anything to go by. Catch up again soon
Cheers Glenn, yes so many coffee shops around Pratumnak. I use the small bakery for takeaway and the coffee shop next door to Cobra for meals before pool 🙏🙏
Retired here now and glad I ended up in Pratumnak. Great area and changes almost daily. With the building of more high end hotels and condos it is going from strength to strength. Ignore all the Russian bashing. Like any place there are good and bad. I eat at the Russian market regularly no issues. The area itself has everything and close to the beach. Not as mad as Pattaya but much better imo depending on what you’re looking for.
Agree. Though I fear that in time with all that development the calm side of the area might get lost . Soi 5 changes month by month . Soi 4 is now what soi 5 was before . I think the only safe area if you want to live quiet will be close to VN Garden . Don't think any big development will be allowed close to the Royal properties.
@@Spock105 Maybe. But the developments are decent ones so hopefully decent people. Personally I’m not too worried it being to quiet, more about it remaining a good place to live.
@@keef6586 Yes. What I mean is that Pattaya itself also used to be a quiet place . For people searchin' for something very quiet and maybe have invested into a condo in soi 5 especially for that , it could in the future turning out not to be such a relaxed area. I give example : I stay most of time in Jomtien Hill Resort almost next to Kwan. Now my condo has sight on the intersection and road to VN Garden. Busdrivers parking side of Lewit Hotel often leave the engines runnin' for hours to keep the inside cool . It smells bad from the excausts and there is noice in such way that I have to close the windows . More development equals logicly more people which is a good thing , but for those like myself in need of a quiet place it might force me to move to Na-Jomtien or even Bang Saray.
Enjoyed the video. It was just what I needed. It has helped me decide for my next year's visit. Stay for two months. Was going to stay arcadia but I think I wanted to be near the beach next time. Do this vid great for Me
Looking forward to being back soon in a week and back in Starbeach. I stayed in the Asia Hotel last year but only 2 nights, the room was old and the bed was rock hard , I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend , just MHO
Thanks David , Pratumnak Hill ( a Beverly Hill of Pattaya ) . I like living there ( not a expat yet ) , much quieter than Pattaya . Perfect for retirees expat .
Looking forward to the next video, my first time in Pattaya was October 1998 and I stayed at the cosy beach hotel, looking for way to seeing the changes, it was surrounded by trees last time I was there
I stayed in the Asia Hotel in 1987.There was 12 of us at the time and we didnt sleep for a week, but the hotel was great except the lift didnt got to the top floor.lol
I remember soi 5 when there was only 2 bars on it...we used to drink all night in the Gee Gi Bar at the bottom of soi 4...if you kept drinking, they stayed open😊...a quick stop to Bo in the Wolfhound for breakfast on the way home..great times
@@DavidAndNong Ye,Bo was some man for the stories, most of them lies😂...is he still around?..I tried to bump into him the last few times I was over but to no avail...
is it fairly safe to bicycle in that area? From your location, would it be possible to walk to walking street? Is it close to the bus route. I noticed several signs in Russian, many Russian tourists, I guess.
After hammering all the bar girls at pool for 3 weeks i walked into Hard 8 Saloon on Soi 5 for a game, full of confidence. A Thai security guard was brushing the excellent table clean and then he played an ex pat and beat him soundly. He was one of the best players I have ever seen and then he hammered me too. Good bloke, we shook hands. I stayed at Sirin nearby. Nice area.
@@DavidAndNong That's why you see so many small dogs down the front at the bottom of Soi 5, I always wondered as most live in condos in this area, I am on soi 6 no pets at all allowed

Cheers Michael, yes Jomtien only 2 minutes away on the bike, but so many businesses close by there is no need to visit Jomtien that often 🙏🙏
Nice area getting better all the time building everywhere
Yes is very little need to go into town now 🙏

the golf is 400 baht for 9 holes
Go to Soi 6 and score a hole in one!!!!
Loving your channel David. Any good recommendations to watch the Premier League in early November.
Hard 8, Bentleys and Okd Rogues all in Soi 5 show all the football.
@@keef6586 thank you for the reply. Will check it out Nov 3.

Good ride and talk.

Bicycle is fairly safe if you are competent. Walking Street is doable, but a fair hike. Bus route is about 500m up the hill 🙏
Cups and cakes good food and cheap lovely family
Yes, we went through a phase of going there every day for breakfast 🙏🙏
Enjoy the food there. Service could be a bit more smiley at times.
Arrive Pratamnak Sun week for few months😊 defo is coffee central😂

Does your condo allow dogs? Rare if it does
Only small ones under 5kg 🙏

Hi Dave 2 questions how old is your mum?& has your condo gone up in price?
Mum is 90 on 19th October... I bought my condo for 4.3m....i would probably get around the same. I just look at it as being rent free 🙏🙏
@DavidAndNong my father is 90 on
25/11 fantastic milestone
I stopped at the Asia Pattaya in December 22 - excellent hotel, breakfasts were amazing. just a little too far out from the action for my liking.
👍👍👍
Where does one go to avoid the Russian hoards? Nothing against them, though, for escaping a bad situation.
