    I walked into a Disk Replay used media store one day in high school in 2001 and decided I was going to buy the first cd I saw based only on the cover itself. Tomorrow the Green Grass was purchased and a life-long love affair with this band commenced.

    The unsung heroes of the Americana music movement. While the dreck coming from Nashville gets more inane by the day you can always return to genius and enjoy the Jayhawks. Much love from SoCal!

    Was at the show. Have seen them countless times and this might have been my favorite yet. They just keep getting better and better. Listening to their catalog of songs, it upsets me that they are so under appreciated and under recognized as one of our great bands over the last 35 years. If I was a new country band, I would do lots of Jayhawks covers. They are so many potential hit songs in their collection. Gary is a freaking genius and the band is exceptional. Karen is wonderful and it was such a treat to see her featured.

    • @georgefelton669
      @georgefelton669 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree. I don't understand how they never became huge. So many great songs, harmonies, Louris's writing and playing, and on and on.

    • @grifftrain
      @grifftrain 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I also agree and have been saying it for years. How this band has not achieved bigger success is a mystery to me. But maybe that has been the reason they have been so good for so long. They have avoided some of mainstream success trappings

    Lucky to have seen the Jayhawks three times in San Francisco, about 10-15 years ago. What a special band. Music and Lyrics that hit home and a vibe that's impossible to describe. When you play Tomorrow the Green Grass or any one of the many beautiful albums of the Jayhawks, you can't help think of love, youth, a rainy day, happiness and the fun of life itself. Pure, raw, so well done by Gary and the whole group. Oh, I also saw them in Ashville, NC too, which was an amazing show. If I had to pick one song ... Save it for a rainy day. Shows off the whole band's immense talent.

      Same, 1992 was the year my wife and I married. I remember seeing them live the next year at the Lake Harriet band shell in Minneapolis . We were hooked, I even drove out to the Hollywood town hall and took a photo of it. We started seeing them live locally as much as possible to the point I think Gary was getting used to my face. I would sing along with their songs and he would nod in approval at me.

      I like both “versions” of the Jayhawks. The first two albums with Mark were classic albums. Two of my all time favorites.
      When he left, I thought it was no way the band could continue at a high level. But then Sound of Lies and Rainy day Music were around the corner, and I like those two albums just as much. I wasn’t crazy about tge album with Mark back in the fold. Mockingbird Time. It has a few good songs, but not at the level of the other albums.
      The newest album seems to be another classic
