You may have a calcium/magnesium imbalance or a relative magnesium deficiency. Inability to fall asleep is often due to a calcium deficiency. But waking up frequently or unrefreshed sleep is often due to an absolute/relative magnesium deficiency. Try taking 100 to 150mg of elemental magnesium via magnesium glycinate after you wake up at night. This could help you fall back asleep.

Magnesium bisglycinate has definitely helped me. I have had leg cramps in the past but, no more. Enough hydration during the day and positive thoughts of gratitude before bed assist to calm me.
Beware of tryptophan as it can cause heart attack symptoms. When I discovered that my arms seizing up suddenly, could be a symptom of that, I quit taking it. I had gone to urgent care about this. I was ok when I got there but still, I donʼt take it any more. I landed in the hospital 4 times from Ashwanghanda. The last time for 4 days - horrible.

I haven't seen too much specific regarding magnesium and the timing before sleep. Personally for me and my family even small doses of melatonin are unbelievable effective.

Interesting. For some reason I was thinking melatonin could mess up your production of it. I will try it again. I was talking Benadryl every night and have for years. Now that can mess up the body more apparently. I work in the OR for long hours so I don't get much sun. I am sure my melatonin is off anyway.
Benadryl is not necessarily natural and personally when I take it, the next day I am still groggy. I feel the benefit of melatonin is the short half life that lets you fall asleep but is essentially gone from you system (back to similar levels) by the morning.
In my family melatonin is fountain not really work so that’s why I’m trying some other things and looking into them because melatonin probably won’t work for me.

Hmm. There are lots of different forms of magnesium as supps. I'd look to see which forms are best for anxiety. Only other thing I can think of is checking your blood work to see if you have other deficiencies that need to be elevated to help with magnesium supp.
It's a natural hormone. The pineal gland produces less than 1mg in a day and declines with age. Supps are crazy high dosages with most at 5 or 10mg. Try the 'low dose' 1mg bottles. That's what the pros recommend ;) *also, don't take it too long before you're spending time in darkness as lots of light will have your brain convert it to serotonin.

I did the same with Benadryl. Stop that ASAP. Get the 'low dose' melatonin that's 1mg.
Melatonin works great for me with microdosing cannabis. I have chronic prostatitis with urinination frequency...hourly.

How did you not include GABA?
GABA helps with anxiety for me but it actually keeps me awake if I take it too close to sleepy time.
