Due to the astronomical ratings success of MeTV’s Saturday Morning Cartoons and Toon in with Me blocks, MeTV is launching their cartoon spinoff channel MeTV Toons on June 25th! Many people including me have predicted for a few years now that some sort of channel like this was going to launch.
MeTV is the saving grace of television and I really appreciate their mission of providing quality classic programming to viewers over the air for free! Could this mean the grand comeback of Saturday morning blocks and antenna television? If you are worried that your favorite classic cartoon wasn't listed, don't worry! MeTV plans to rotate and add other cartoons as time goes on! This is merely the tip of the ice berg and what they are starting off with.

4:37 Fun Fact: TBS back in the 80s was supposed to air the original 1979 Doraemon Anime here in the US, as “The Adventures of Albert And Sidney”, but backed out at the last minute, meaning that if they did picked up the rights, then Doraemon would definitely show up on MeTV Toons.
Albert is Nobita?
@@m.k.b.3880 Doraemon is Albert, Noby is meant to be Sidney.
I would be ecstatic but would they show a subtitled show on American tv?
@@Ihartwalrusguy ?
Oh yeah, Turner bought the license for Doraemon back in 1985 but never ended up doing anything with it
Welcome back Saturday mornings! O how we have missed you so.

Saturday mornings
were the VERY finest. CB
Now boy i say boy, this is a huge win for over the air television!
Agreed
Leghorn will be back! All those barnyard antics!!!
I think over the air t v in addition to the free (and cheaper end of) streaming is the future.
It would be if it weren’t run by Weigel.
What's the problem with Weigel?
As a child of the late 60 s this is fantastic to see all the cool cartoons my generation grew up with and free
i wanna see all the Chuck Jones era Daffy Duck cartoons. Good lord, those are still funny to this day!
They will all be on MeTV Toons!
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewswhoo hoo!
They are on MEtv Toon in with me.
When I saw the commercial for this, with the line-up, I literally thought to myself, this channel is basically going to be what Boomerang USED to be.
It's all coming back to you...
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews
I see what ya did there.. 😅
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews😂
And at the time Boomerang was what the Cartoon Network used to be before they became whatever they are now, and the reboots of Scooby Doo, and the Looney Tunes cartoons are awful
@@The1baddman
Yeah, cartoon network is garbage now.
Transformers, He-Man, Voltron, Robotech, Superman (Fleischer), Batman: The Animated Series, TMNT, and Thundercats.
Same!
I think WB owns Thundercats, so that shouldn’t be an issue. As for the Fleischer Superman’s, the new station is going to have these blocks of miscellaneous shorts called Cartoon Allstars. I imagine that’s where things like that can be found. Let’s just hope they don’t use the horrendous prints from the WB official Blu Ray set. They really messed it up-in several ways.
Mind you, I’m in Canada and won’t have access to this channel 😭
No love for G.I. Joe?
@@davej.meister5421 Much love! I just forgot. Also, another oldie I'd like to see is Mighty Mouse
There is a VERY LARGE population of Senior adults and Boomers with no access to cable, satellite and streaming, who remain underserved by digital television when it comes to the classic cartoons they grew up with and used to be on REGULAR television! This will help that demographic IMMENSELY! For did you know, that the few times in the day when ME TV air cartoons---their viewership spikes astronomically?
You summed it up perfectly! Not just that, lower income families have to suffer through that dreaded preschool slop on PBS that lacks any substance, so having an actual quality animation channel on antenna TV is a match made in heaven.
And yes, the cartoons on MeTV have been topping the charts! I'm glad society has finally realized cartoons are not just for kids and can be loved and enjoyed by all ages, demographics, and types of people!
Yeah I remember the one guy who works for me tv said that they had like a half a million people watching bugs Bunny one Saturday a couple of weeks ago when he was interviewed by another TH-camr
I did see someone on Twitter ask Plutotv if they would have added channel and they said that they're looking into it and their contacting the company they'll update them with more information I just hope they don't order it I just hope they don't water it down
@@jamesm47766 Not only that----but they are waking up EARLY to watch it---very desperate need out there!
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews I feel sorry for people who can't afford subscription television and the only Saturday morning network television available to them anymore is depressing! Unless your kid wants to grow up to be a vet, who wants to see an antelope giving birth at the zoo? With ME TV cartoons---its going to be like Saturday morning in 1975 all over again!
It would be nice to get the Pink Panther, the Inspector and Roland & Rattfink cartoons again... especially if they can throw in the original Ant & the Aardvark cartoons too.
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
They have Pink Panther
Indeed my favorite after the road runner.
I really hope obscure CN shows like Time Squad and Sheep in the Big City get added to the channel. They haven't aired on TV in a very long time and are not available on streaming anywhere. So them getting a home on Me TV Toons would really be a big grab and win!
Neither was Evil Con Carne which became obscure until in 2018 when it finally became available on streaming
Not to mention Evil Con Carne aired on Checkered Past from December until February. It would be epic if MeTV decided to air the original Grim & Evil series for Halloween
I would love it if they would pick up Dexter's Laboratory and classic The Powerpuff Girls, but what they have planned right now is a great start!
The classic version of The Powerpuff Girls, which aired over 25 years ago, is a throwback to many classic animation styles used in American cartoons and Japanese anime, with tributes and homages to Hanna-Barbera thrown in.
The even got the original voices of Rocky and Bullwinkle to voice a pair of Powerpuff Girls supervillains in the later seasons.
If The Powerpuff Girls aired on MeTV Toons, it would mark the second time on over-the-air broadcasts that the cartoon aired after a brief period of time on Kids' WB in 2002.
@@Justin-Hill-1987if I’m correct the original cartoon cartoons would be more possible since they were made when Cartoon Network studios was still Hanna-Barbera studios in America cause to me I would classify them under Hanna-Barbera unlike the latter one cause of them being made after the rebranding to Cartoon Network studios in the early 2000’s
These are the cartoons we grew up with on Saturday Mornings Can't wait!
Me too!
SPACE GHOST , BIRDMAN/GALAXY TRIO, MIGHTY MIGHTOR/Moby Dick, Young Samson and Goliath, Shazzan The Herculoids. Should be on the MeTv list
Call it "Hanna Barbara's World of Super Adventure" like they did in the 60s
Astro Boy?, Snorks?, Magic School Bus?, Bobby's World?, Garfield and Friends?, Felix The Cat?
Astro Boy and Snorks are definitely possibilities! PBS owns the rights to Magic School Bus and also Garfield is owned by Paramount now. Felix the Cat is a maybe
It was stated that metv did partner with paramount so maybe Garfield will be
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews we need The Twisted Tales of Felix The Cat and Bruno the Kid to be added to MeTV Toons
@@luisaquino8894 Artie....the mere fact that Beck is involved works VERY FAVORABLY for your wishes to come through. That guy will see to it that Felix gets added as well as many others.
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsthe Archie cartoon lol. If it has Scooby Doo it should have every version up until maybe the last one in the 90s. Can't forget the Three Stooges Cartoon
Wow 😲🤯😲!! I'm just mind blown with all of the amazing classic content that would be shown here.
Xiaolin Showdown especially and all of the cartoons that hasn't aired in like 10 years + really sparks my interest in this channel even more. Can't wait to be glued to the TV screen like how I was as a kid.
Last time I watched boomerang was 5 months ago when I was in the hospital due to an infection. i was very upset that the old cartoons like Flintstones and the Jetsons aired around 10pm. Me and dad are so excited for this
I thought they aired at 10 AM, but I'm glad you recovered from that infection
The Flintstones and the Jetsons air on MeTV every Sunday morning at 10am. eastern standard time. Three episodes of the Flintstones beginning at 10 and one episode of the Jetsons at 11:30.
It's still pretty early, I imagine that more MeTV Toons affiliates will be announced the closer we get to June 25, 2024.
That's what I'm thinking
I really hope so, I really hope my local CBS affiliate (who airs MeTV) picks up the channel.
I'm in the Albany NY market and we don't know if it's coming here yet. Currently our station for Catchy Comedy has the service on "2" sub-channels. One of those would be a prime spot for "toons".
Where I live only Me TV is available and not Me TV+ so I doubt Me TV toons will be either. Maybe the Frndly app will pick it up. @@DoswarePictures
I hope Dayton, Ohio gets it!
Imaging having this Halloween
and
Christmas
with those specials classic from
all this cartoons, can't wait to be in the season ! Thank l'll have it in every single tv in my house !
Definitely something to look forward to as I miss the old cartoons I watched growing up on Saturday mornings. Although I can watch classic cartoons on Boomerang and MeTV, a lot of cartoons such as Josie And The Pussycats aren't included.
I'm hopeful that once MeTV Toons gets itself established and have things going, that they will roll out a more Action-Adventure block of cartoons like SwatKats and the like, much like Toonami did for anime back in the day. They arent limited to that style of cartoon either, a eduction block gor the younger kids, the more 90's era cartoons that a lot of the adults will remember, etc etc.
Regardless of what they do this channel existing is a huge win for us animation enthusiasts. 😂
MeTV Toons needs an anime/action toons block kind of like Toonami Midnight Run or Boomeraction was back in the day.
I think they should add old anime like Astro Boy and Gigantor, as well as some other shows from the 2000's
I agree with you, Astro Boy would be perfect on MeTV
I'll take Star Blazers, loved that series as a kid
So excited!!! I m hoping hanaba barbera cartoons pound puppies and snorks get put in Metvtoons! So excited for this channel
*Hanna
On their night schedule they'll be showing all the classic Supermarionation series, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, and Captain Scarlet.
Since they're showing UK shows, I wonder if they'll air Canadian cartoons such as The Raccoons at some point
If I watched physical television, this would be my primary channel I'd watch.
Im very hyped for this channel.
If there was ONE show id like to come to the channel its quickdraw mcgraw. id find it a little weird if Kwicky Koala made it but QuickDraw got completely shafted.
I agree with you, but I have a feeling Quick Draw McGraw will come to MeTV Toons in the future
This sounds like exciting news, I'll be sure to check my local listings! I'll tell my dad and friend about it's GREAT!

Kinda shocked Astroboy, the one anime OG isn't included in the lineup. Oh well. I have a feeling that at some point METV might squeeze in a Toonami style late night anime block.
It was said that they have access to lots more. These toons are just what they're starting off with.
I've seen many people requesting Astro Boy in the comments, so I wouldn't be surprised if they add it as time goes on
They should go all out and add adult and anime blocks like CN.
I just saw this on The Antenna Man and the Interview with the spokesman of The MeTv Network of cartoons. Very pleasant to hear & good 📰 news .
I can't wait
I'd like to see Battle of the Planets, Roger Ramjet and Snorks added. Speaking of the Snorks, that's not available anywhere online. I wonder why. But I would like for them to get some Filmation and Ruby Spears cartoons.
I’m just surprised that MeTV is able to get some of these cartoons, licensing fees are extremely expensive and very complicated
It's not out of the question
Also I'm surprised MeTV was able to get their hands on this many cartoons in the first place
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews right I'm guessing cartoon network and boomerang didn't want to pay for licensing fees for many of the non-Hanna Barbera and the non looney toons cartoon libraries that they don't own.

TBS 2010's: The Big Bang Theory
TBS 2020's: Modern Family
Wait! The first entry is Tokyo Broadcasting System. Not the one from Turner.
This is very promising for a few reasons. Weigel has done a pretty good job filling nostalgia niches. OTA broadcasting doesn't seem to be a growth industry, but it still has an audience. There were so many short-lived animated shows from roughly 1960-2000. Most of them didn't turn out to be billion $ franchises, but would be great fodder for a cartoon channel in a time when getting a few million viewers is a home run. When you factor in Saturday morning cartoons, golden age shorts, weekday syndicated advertainment, family-friendly anime, and Turner era original cartoons, it would take 12 years of round the clock programming to burn through the whole loop.
MeTV broadcasts 62 different shows per week, which is IMPRESSIVE!
But yeah, MeTV Toons should have the classic cartoons and anime, alongside early Cartoon Network shows and Turner programming. Maybe even some old school PBS cartoons to fulfill E/I requirements.
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews what are the current E/I requirements? From what I can tell PBS is the only nonsubscriber network that seems to produce any new animated daytime shows in the past 12 years.
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsWeigel is awesome! And it looks like we will never run out of content esp if new shows get added?

If MeTV Toons want more educational programming shows, then otherwise they should put shows like Timmy the Tooth (Live action kids show) and The Adventures of Blinky Bill every weekday mornings if it’s possible. I grew up in the early 90s and I used to watch these shows on my local fox station (WVAH 11). This brought us childhood memories back like a brick of gold. And Thanks to MeTV’s new sister channel.

and all the shows will be not edited so the all the cartoons on the channel is not censored
and all the shows will air in original format too

Jerry Beck is doing an amazing job and I appreciate he wants to air all the cartoons in their originally intended formats, uncut, unedited, and the best way!
Unless of course they air a show that was produced in 16:9 in 4:3. PBS Retro has the same issue with their airings of Thomas.
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsaspect ratio is so important! MeTV loves to stretch their programs and in some cases it's not bad but in others it's noticeable and unnatural. The idea that some people seem to think that just because their screen is wide that everything they watch, including older programs, needs to go from edge to edge is ridiculous. Antenna TV doesn't artificially stretch ANY of their product 😊
I'm so excited, can't wait!
It would be something having shows like G.I.Joe, Transformers, He-man, She-Ra, Bravestarr, M.A.S.K., Voltron, Centurions, Super Mario Bros super show, The Real Ghostbusters, 1980s Muppet Babies, 1980s Alvin & The Chipmunks
Muppet Babies is a licensing nightmare, part of the reason why there are no home media releases of it
Going to keep my fingers crossed for this one. The ones on there I’m most interested in are Freakazoid, Jonny Quest, Speed Racer, Gobots, and Rocky and Bullwinkle. As for stuff I would add, I’d suggest Fleshier Superman, SuperFriends and Astro Boy (1963). Definitely would like to see them get an action block like how Cartoon Network had with Toonami.
Imagine if they end up adding ThunderCats (the original 80's version, not the epic 2011 version or the disastrous 2020 version ThunderCats Roar) and also the short lived 90's toon Road Rovers!
Agreed! An action/superhero block is very likely
It will be great to see Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Boris and Natasha, along with Aesop and Son, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and Dudley-Do-Right again.

I've seen a lot of people mention it, also Peanuts
This is gonna be great
I'm also hoping Garfield and friends, muppet baby original, animaniacs tiny toons and Pinky and the brain, and more well come. ❤
Muppet Babies original is a legal nightmare but yeah that'd be sweet.
Muppet babies is a Disney show. I think Warner Bros and related shows would be on there.
Muppet Babies has a lot of licensing issues since multiple companies were involved in the production and distribution, it's an absolute legal nightmare like that Mac Guy said

Gotta find out when Silverhawks will air.
😁
They should grab some of those anime series like Voltron, Tranzor Z, Battle of the Planets, Starblazers, Gundam and Robotech. Air them in a single block.
😁
I've seen many people here requesting Voltron, He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats (both the 1985 and 2011 versions), SWAT Kats, and Samurai Jack for action cartoons
I hope this does not replaced Cartoon Network and Boomerang all together.
Oh it won't
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews. Are you sure?
@@jakemiketta3868 Absolutely
I wished they would add Count Duckula and Danger Mouse as well :)
They can't secure the rights to any Disney IPs
Hopefully animaniacs the TMNT original classic show everything from the emblem entertainment library and especially Garfield and friends, yeah Garfield and friends wasn't on the list sadly I hope it will soon.
Sounds amazing
The Herculoids, Space Ghost, Young Samson and others would be a definite plus.
Duck Dodgers, Xialoin Showdown, Freakazoid and Krypto the super dof are good 200ps cartoons.....hope the classic Animaniacs will join too as Tiny Toons and maybe Histeria! !
Maybe they'll even throw in Road Rovers!
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews Oh yeah, btw i grew up watching 4kids and DIC toons
I also watched CW Vortexx
If only Quick Draw McGraw was only airing reruns again. That show, including the title character, deserves more attention. Not sure why Quick Draw McGraw isn’t as recognized as the other Hanna-Barbera characters.
According to Neil Sabin (guy who runs metv) they got licenses to all of Hanna barbera so who knows
It's a possibility!
I would love to see robot Jones brought back. I don’t know about KND but I believe that show has a very large and dedicated fanbase so that would also be a net win for them
For sure
EVERYONE IS HERE!
Along with Baby Looney Tunes & Krypto the Superdog, I think Captain Planet will also be another E/I fulfillment for the new channel
Honestly for E/I content, it could be a lot worse and I'll gladly take those shows over Saved by the Bell XD
Hoping saved by will now be off METV, if these 2 cartoons qualified as e/i
I’m excited for it to release on June 25
Me too
I already have MeTV as part of my digital cable package so hopefully Comcast will add this one too. 🤞
Galtar, The paw paw bears, Dragon's lair, Saturday Supercade, Shirt Tails, Laff-a-Lympics, and some cartoons from Filmation. With what they have already, It sounds like a great channel.
Shirt Tails is boring
This is a win i say
Definitely
What does could’ve been was just a rebrand of boomerang back to its glory days if it wasn’t a separate channel boomerang could’ve just changed their name to MeTV tunes just like tune. Disney became Disney XD.
I wish Toon Disney came back as a separate channel, by the way.
Or Jetix
This needs to be made available on TH-cam as well and not just as a free broadcast television.
Agreed!
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews so let's make a demand and petition for that and send it to them :)
Eh I don’t really care
There'll be some time before it happens but eventually the back to the Future animated series will probably make its way to the channel 🙂
8:18 and my TV station when it arrives, if i get it done in time.
I hope so too
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsdo you think something missing, Garfield and friends, muppet baby, code name kids nextdoor, Ren and stimpy if comedy Central can allow, and the Tom rugger shows like animaniacs Pinky and the brain Histeria and tiny toons?

This idea is kinda out there, but how about Robotech? Cartoon Network has been able to show it in the past, it fits about the right time period of early-mid 80s, and the licensing snafu with the three different Japanese cartoons (especially Macross) that went into making it has recently been sorted out so it should be much easier to get now. Might be on the pricier end to license though. But yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing some more classic anime, at least the Americanized versions that we remember, like Astro Boy, Battle of the Planets, Star Blazers, Tranzor Z or Voltron. I like the idea of having an action cartoon block! It doesn't look like MeTV toons will be showing in my market (yet) but I'm hoping that PlutoTV picks up a version of it - MeTV and PlutoTV are pretty much my only two live TV choices these days!
Better yet, they should launch an over-the-air anime network
I'll have to see if the Hartford market will have it. I don't use my tuner much, but I would tune in.
Funny enough a lot of this is what I would watch 45 years ago.
Rocky and Bullwinkle is my favorite. But I do love Speed Racer and The Jetsons.
If only they could get the Jim Terry Force 5, or Star Blazers...
i cann't wait till this channel launches so i can see it im hoping it will be on streaming services cause thats all i have frndlytv and metv
I hope so
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews me too
I have no idea who has the rights to the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, but I'd like to see it on there regardless.
Me neither
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews those characters made a cameo in the recent D&D movie, so that sounds like a good place to check. I might do that.
I hope He-Man and the Master of Universe and She-Ra: Princess of Power airs on there.
@@josephclegg3562 those are good! Let's toss in Thundercats while we're at it too.
I’m hoping by the time I have kids they’ll add Cartoon Network shows from the 90s to early 2010s so I don’t have to pay for cable for my kids to grow up on quality programming.
Side note: considering in Antenna Man’s video Neil mentions Pepé Le Pew, I’m still holding out hope that Johnny Bravo is being considered to air on MeTV Toons, since that’s another controversial cartoon WB willingly doesn’t acknowledge.
My most wanted cartoons are Dexter’s Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls (original), Courage the Cowardly Dog, Chowder, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Pink Panther, Garfield and Friends, Gumby, Astro Boy, Tiny Toon Adventures, Sailor Moon, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, George of the Jungle (original), Roger Ramjet and Batman: The Animated Series.
Technically Tom and Jerry and Droopy are now owned by Time Warner
Yes, however MGM produced them
cartoons on regular tv thats old school for me being i had to wait at 3 oclock to run home to watch cartoons. saterday morning was soo much fun no V.C.R. either you watch it or you miss is for ever.
Not just that, it's crazy how nobody uses VCR or Laserdisc to record shows anymore
Such a cool but terrifying feeling 😅
No Funky Phantom?
What a crime!
Too niche I suppose
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews They’re including Dynomutt, but not Goober and the Ghost Chasers?
The channel’s doomed.
The latter is too niche
@@AndrewHalliwellWhat even are those? Attempt piracy and calm down

Ffs
Asides from Wildfire that haven’t aired since Cartoon Network’s Look what We Found I’d be really surprised to see Foofur again that hasn’t aired on US TV since NBC cancelled it in 1988.
Yeah
