  • Grooming DEMO of My Eyebrows + Castor Oil for Eyebrow Growth & Conditioning
Eyebrows are best left mostly untouched (kept in their natural shape), in my opinion. To this day I prefer to not really touch them. I largely neglect my eyebrows, besides occasionally trimming them & plucking strays in the center; and I comb them into place after my morning skincare.
    Wearing:
Cetaphil Face Moisturizer, Daily Oil Free Facial Moisturizer w/SPF 35: amzn.to/3oj5qsu
& CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30 Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen: amzn.to/36eGAQn
[& on my lips] CeraVe Healing Ointment: amzn.to/2ZRo8xL
What I use for my eyebrows:
Tweezerman Brow Scissors & Brush Set amzn.to/3oikK8y
Slant Tweezer (mine are 15yrs old & still going strong): amzn.to/3DfSRCb
    CeraVe Healing Ointment: amzn.to/2ZRo8xL
Castor Oil (been using this faithfully every nigh for almost a decade; the condition of my skin & lashes has benefited immensely): amzn.to/2ZOA1Vb

While I fully acknowledge that my basic facial features are the result of genetics, I wanted to share a small change I’ve made to my routine…for the past 6-7 months, I’ve been using a tiny brush to comb castor oil through my eyebrows, which is an extra step that I haven’t always done (rather, I’d simply allow the residual oil to naturally migrate). I haven’t even been doing this every single day, but maybe this added step in my routine has made a difference; I’m not sure that it has (you can tell me what you think). I’ve been faithfully massaging castor oil on my entire eye area to condition my skin & eyelashes, every night for almost a decade, with tremendous results. So I swear by my nightly ritual of applying castor oil to my entire eye area; I’ll always be doing this, if for no other reason than the obvious benefits to my skin. I understand that results vary (as w/anything in life). I can only ever speak to my experience. Ultimately, my hair growth and hair quality/integrity is a product of my genes, yes, but also it’s massively affected by the combination of epigenetic factors including my nutrient-rich diet, my lifestyle, stress management, the castor oil, not smoking, etc. I make it a point to include this for whomever wishes to read it, because I think that people grossly undervalue the impact of overall lifestyle and personal habits on their hair growth (and potential hair loss). Nutrients’ effects on hair growth & quality are especially distinct (and yes, this absolutely includes your eyebrows & eyelashes). I can tell you that reforming my diet to focus on micronutrients and obtaining specific minerals in foods, combined with managing my stress more effectively using skills learned in therapy, has had a DRAMATIC effect on the quality of my hair, skin & nails-every part of me, inside & out. This is why I’m always emphasizing the importance of practicing mindfulness, overall, and I’ll never stop talking about it. Genes are only part of the picture. If you’re neglecting or overlooking any of these epigenetic factors, and thinking that they don’t play a role (or that they play a minimal role), then you’re mistaken. The scientific literature is available, and I highly encourage you to learn about the topic so you can have the best self-management, because you deserve it-everyone does.

100% agree with everything you mentioned. I wish results from castor oil came more quickly but as with anything natural takes patience. I have also used castor for lashes and brows for a while. I dont naturally have such gorgeous thick and full nfows/lashes like yours but definitely think castor and great nutrients helps alot to reach potential per what your genetics and body allows ofcourse. Love that scissor brush set for trimming as well, my favorite. I used to be scared of castor and oils anywhere nesr my face all my life because i always had super blemish snd congested prome skin and was horrified in getting clogged pores or dots anywhere near eyes and on lash lines as they ate horrific to get rid of. It is what kept me in fear from trying castor for years on anything other than my hair lol. Glad I finally bit the bullet but still always a little paranoid about milia or clogged pores than many develop from it. I apply it much less generous than you per that lol and just run it in with my fingers on lashes and brows as hate having to wash it off my spoolies which is not easy. Also asked a question about beef liver (om your recipe video for it) of you may ever have a moment in the future. Happy Holidays Jen and thanks for your amazing sincere vibes as always! 💕

thank you Jennifer...this is so true...yet it is so difficult to interrupt a negative loop...self care and positive habits are so crucial to get better mentally, emotionally and physically, I am aware of that and believe it to be true, yet being stuck in a place of psychophysical unwellness /disease makes it soo hard, to be consistent with anything.....I feel this is my biggest obstacle, to be able to be consistent no matter what, when I often have so low energy and mood I can hardly get out of bed, and I have to re-start everything after crashing for weeks maybe, and endlessly start over...

I am Italian decent, I am VERY hairy. I as well got made fun of for my unibrow. Fast track 15 years and now I absolutely love my full eyebrows, and I get compliments. It’s really sad how our society is a hit or miss if you have a “trendy” feature, and the trend is always changing so you are never “safe”. You are a breath of fresh air in embracing your features. You inspire me a lot!

Hairy girl of Italian descent over here :D I used to have beautiful full brows, and I also got made fun of. It made me feel like I wasn't normal. So I plucked them. For years and years, and they just won't grow back. I haven't tweezed in years, and I still have my 90's brows, and I just wish I could look like myself again. Be thankful every day that you were strong enough not to ruin yours.

@@carolinasalmazo9141 Awh, thank you for the kind words! My daughter has my hairy genes. She is my mini, at 7 years old she asks me about her hair and moles. My hope is that she feels comfortable in her skin and embraces the importance of difference and heritage. I want to also support her choice if she wishes to rid herself of some of it lol, I know I certainly had my share of over waxing fails!
So i actually did go through a horrible tweezer phase as a teen, I had a couple spots of the “tails” of my eyebrows that were missing.
I actually used men’s 5% minoxidil, or rogain, on a eyebrow spooly on my eyebrows with great success. It grew back. Yes, with rogain you essentially have to use it forever to keep the hair, but that’s what you have to do with biotin, vitamins, and brushing your teeth. So I keep it in my bathroom and use it when I brush my teeth.
I buy the generic “equate” version of rogain, at Walmart. A 3 month supply for 19$ (:

"the eyebrow incident" hahaha! I love castor oil too. I personally like simpler products not only bc they're less expensive, but they've seemed to withstand the test of time, as far as results. Vaseline, Noxzema, Dove bar soap, salicylic acid face wash. I don't spend over five bucks. My personal opinion is wrinkle cream companies cash in on women's insecurities. They're basically modern day snake oil salesmen.

Reading ingredients and living a healthy lifestyle os what helps age well and gracefully more than any product or procedure in existance in my opinion but we live on an instant gratification world so what can you do lol, to each their own! 😅

I haven't touched mine in years either, but mine grow naturally quite far apart from each other and it's such a shame, because I love the unruly upwards hairs close to the middle. I think it looks lovely. I might give castor oil a shot!

    • @JenniferMyers
      @JenniferMyers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I love using castor oil primarily for its benefits to me skin (the eye area, specifically). It's an added bonus to me that it conditions my lashes and brow hairs. I think embracing our naturally-given features is always going to look the best, because it's, well, the most natural (and natural always looks best, in my opinion). It's funny to me, too, that the very feature for which I was ridiculed as a youngster & teen is now apparently coveted, lol...

Said I had Dracula brows and that I was a werewolf. I’ve plucked them to nothing so many times but they always grew back in full. Thankful now that full brows are in trend. Hope it stays that way. Hello, Jennifer. I would really appreciate you answering and giving me an advice.
    My problem is:
The oil feels very heavy on my skin (it's really thick, idk if it has to be like this). ->
After waking up, the area around my eyes has wrinkles and an unnatural dead-like grandma-like skin texture. (I am 20 btw, and there's no sign of aging anywhere - except in this place after using castor). ->
After cleansing, my eyes become red and irritated and stay that way for the entire day.
    >I use adapalene, cleanse with a gentle cleanser, moisturize every day after waking up, eat healthily, do sports, and I have never worn makeup.
Thank you in advance for your help and all the best/

Hi Jennifer, you said you took no more than 2x showers per week (for washing your hair). For people who work out almost every day do you think it's okay to wash the hair right after or just wash with water? I try to minimize shampooing/conditioning but it's hard when I work out almost every day haha.

    • @JenniferMyers

I shampoo my hair 2x/week. Showering I do every day (I don’t wash my hair every time I bathe).

When i was in grade 1 i had a crush on a girl who sit beside me in class. I never seem to be able to get her attention. I found the only way to get her attention is to make fun of her everytime and then get hit by her, haha... bring back memories. She was my first crush🙂 dont worry about that boy, he was probably just trying to get your attention so you would notice him more, i know boys are dumb they probably get better chance at being romantic than being an idiot.

Thank you for sharing this! I just got the kate blanc castor oil you use and I'm on my second day of using it :) I am excited for results! Many moons ago I used castor oil twice daily ( Wasn't a very high end brand to be honest) and I remember getting a ton of compliments from coworkers saying my eyelashes looked fake. I stopped using it for some reason and now I want to get my lashes and brows in better condition again!

I had a question to ask you. And I know that it is not related to this video, but since you posted this just a day ago, chances are higher for you to see my comment. I want to start using differin. I tried once before. Purged really badly. Then I found your channel. And I learned the proper way of using it. The thing is at the moment I have a routine that includes 2 salysic acid products, a Paula's choice exfoliator and a Cerave salysic acid cream, among another 2 products, which I believe are safe to use even with retinol. My question is, when I start using retinol one day a week, at first, together with the other products you use for it (which I also believe are the right ones), what do I do for the other 6 days a week? Do I keep my routine just like I have it now, with the salysic acid products, or do I give them up, and only use cleanser and cream, until I can add up more retinol? I know its a long question, and its okay if I dont get an answer, but at this point for me, it was worth a try, as I cant find this information nowhere online. Lots of love Jennifer. I have made so much positive changes in my life, because of you and your channel.

I recommend the Nuetrogena Anti wrinkle cream in the tub. You can use it 2 nights in a row then on the 3rd night use your BHA. The Paulas choice 2% is slippery enough to use without moisturiser on top. It doesnt break me out. You really dont need to put up with purging ever. I noticed it improved my skin without any complications. During break out times like your period use benzoyl peroxide directly on spots on top of the BHA. Retinol as opposed to prescription Vitamin A preparations are just less problematic when you are younger

I wanted to ask about your opinion regarding face yoga. Do you think it works for anti aging purposes?

    • @JenniferMyers
      @JenniferMyers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I don't do things like that. It's nothing against it, or to people who do...but, frankly I prefer to minimize unnecessary moving and/or touching my face. I like to preserve it by doing what I CAN do. I don't make unnecessary or exaggerated facial expressions (like wearing a perma-smile), I don't tug or pull at my facial skin, and I don't wear makeup on a daily basis. All of these habits help preserve my skin by leaving it mostly alone, basically.
