Sam - I have to hand it to you that when others are winding down for Christmas you are still thrashing out daily videos. It must take a lot of time and effort to put them together to entertain people for the odd 10 minutes - thank you.

Oliver Merry The thing is that it drives "better" when the conditions age great, when it rains or snows I assure you, TT RS drives better, it has more bhp and torque so I guess it's faster on the track, it's AWD so it's quicker on ¼ mile, not all roads are fun country roads and given that it has a better interior it probably "drives" better (it's more comfortable) on highway
IMO it looks a lot better than the TT as well, but looks are subjective I guess.

Funny you should say that cuz the 718 is actually the glorified golf whereas the TT RS has an extra cylinder, more power and a much nicer interior.
Now, Which one I'd go for ?? The 718 all day, every day.
Black Knight a Ford F-150 has 4 extra cylinders. It still doesn't make it a better sports car.
The Cayman is
Lighter
Proper wheel drive(rwd)
50/50 weight distribution
Signifcantly lower center of gravity
More rigid chassis
The ttrs is
LITERALLY sharing the same chassis as the vw golf with the mqb platform.

Been in both and own Audi A3 2.0t for daily now, surprisingly I would go with tt-rs in this case. that 5 cyl engine + awd is glorious if you ask me.
I love the looks of the Cayman especially with this wrap! I would go for the Porsche.

I actually *really* like the way the new Porsche 718 Cayman S sounds, and do prefer it over the Audi TTRS in general.

I did 242 laps on the Ring with my new blue 718 Boxster S;
sound does not matter when trying to go fast.
Easy the Porsche is a better car but the Audi sounds better
Don't forget the Audi is way more usable in freezing weather like we have, and has more space too

The audi has a better engine, the cayman probably has a better DSG. Chassis probably goes to the Cayman and the TT has the better interior. Its kind of hard to say which one is better. If you are going to have high speed James Bond style chases in the snow covered alps, definitely the TT.
@ Keli K - AWD (Mostly a FWD really) is a big negative for a drivers car. Ruins the handling, feel and fun.

The funny thing was the AMG couldn't even get traction at a snails pace. I think the owner wanted to floor it but would have impaled the Merc on the railings.
Man, that'd be a tough choice. Unless i take local environment into account. It's -19C outside my door right now, which would likely lean me to the Audi. Happy christmas, Sam!
Had the Porsche now have the TTRS. The Audi is much more fun all round and leaves the Porsche for dust. Sad to say but Audi all the way for me.
u have the 718 s model? Yeah I can imagine it does. I have a remapped bmw xdrive 435d and it does its 60 in 3.8s, abit slower than these cars after that (quarter mile 12.6 on a warm day). but want something quicker and other than a 997 turbo pdk, I can see many cars out there qucker than the ttrs especially if was to get it mapped

I have ways loved the TT, but as a daily you want to aim more for that "civilized" theme. Where as the TT is a brutal car, it kinda lacks that "civilized" feel, and more towards a fun car. The Cayman is an amazing car, but it is more civil and relaxed if a car can be described as...

Both superb cars but it would be the outrageous TTRS for me but in black or Nardo.The interior of the Porsche looked very dated plus everywhere bar certain types of track days the performance of the TTRS would embarasss the Porsche.

Not a Porsche fan but that 718 is lovely. Far better looking car than the TTRS.

- has one of the best interiors in market
- looks aggressive
- with performance parts looks insane
- sounds really good and has 400HP
- 4 wheel drive so it's a good all year daily
*Cayman*
- really nice interior
- it looks like a Cayman GT4 for a grandma (it's too tame)
- The car just has a Porsche logo but it's not really a Porsche
- the car is nothing like the GT4
- If there was no GT4 then this car would be a little better
- This car is like the 4 cylinder F Type (complete trash to sell to people who can't afford a real Porsche)

I think the TT-RS looks and sounds great. The Porsche also looks very nice.
Even with a 4cl I'd still have the Cayman. You just don't get the hospitality and amazing ownership opportunities with Audi.
I’m in the same predicament. I feel like the TTRS is a much better value and maybe even car but of course there’s never a substitute for a Porsche.
The TT-RS is the best hot hatch but the Cayman is a real sports car, it just depends on what you want. I do love to drive my Cayman as a daily.
Both amazing cars they just attracted to different people.
I like Porsche better as a brand. But while we still can, I prefer an engine with 5 cylinders over an engine with 4. Soon 'progress' will potentially kill that fun too, so I would enjoy it while I still can. The Porsche is great too, no doubt!

The Audi might be running rich. I noticed a lot of soot on the rear bumper, just above the exhausts.
I think I would choose the Cayman but with an exhaust.

Pretty easy: you have a real winter? Audi. You barely have 1-2 snowfalls a year: porsche
Cayman with Flat 6 was king of the hill. TT RS is now best in class at 50 -60K price point. Style, sound , performance and a straight line rocket. Cayman has better balance and track day capability but has lost its charisma. Better off going for a basic 911 as that still has its balls intact.
Why are you both wearing your watches on the WRONG HAND? ( and no , it’s NOT optional, the crown etc are designed to be used by the right hand , so the watch should be on the LEFT wrist)

Each to their own but I would prefer a TT RS or an M2 over a mid range cayman - just not special enough looking

I'm a Porsche man... but this TTRS is insane... Interior is better, acceleration is insane, i think it looks better as well but Porsche drives better.
Still think Porsche downsizing the engine is a big mistake, as I picked the 981 Boxster/Cayman GTS over this TTRS.
Anyone mention depreciation yet? One will drop like a rock. The other not so much. One manufacturer will dare you to track it every weekend and still stand by it and still only need a yearly service (outside of tyres and brakes). The other will break every other track session and then it's maker will try to wiggle out of their warranty and ask why you went to a track.
My personal experience and it caused me to sell one and buy the other. Figure out which is which. :-)
Porsche tend to hold their value better than the ttrs. But damn I love the ttrs so I just bought an 2018 ttrs

I own a 718 Boxster GTS and love almost everything about it other than the sound, so much so that I’m looking to trade it in on a TTS. The 718 sounds even worse inside than out, it’s got an ugly metallic whine that spoils what otherwise is a great car. Running costs are also ridiculous, recent service to change engine oil and brake fluid cost €1000. Why a TTS over RS? Who really needs more than 330hp? I bought the Boxster while living in Germany and 370hp made sense on the autobahn now living in France it’s difficult staying close to 130km/h speed limit on French highways.
