I just wanted to say I totally get why punk feels this way even if I think he doesn't take enough responsibility for his part in things. Though to be fair I don't think anyone involved took enough responsibility as it's a failure on ALL of them.
I mean if he has regrets fine. But he was blatantly calling his own shots. If there was matches he didn't wanna do TK would have bent over to find another opponent.
@@parsath_2584 I think like he said in the video he was probably only talking about Paige. (Hed probably say fish too but you'd have to remind him the dude exists like this video did for me 🤣) Which is still before the incident so he probably would have been trying.
Punk/Omega.....whoever stood in the way of this happening has no business being in the industry. Makes me think of Hogan/Flair in WWF.......like how could you NOT?!
Love the skit intros! I also want to be devil’s advocate and say maybe he’s looking at his “wasted” matches from a standpoint of he feels the matches didn’t move the wrestlers involved any more over and didn’t move stories happening. But we know Punk and Petty is one you can’t say is lacking in his vocabulary.
@@nevermindgaming6848 like Punk is crying about AEW anytime he gets the chance? brother is in WWE having his match of the year with Drew and decides to not shut the fuck up.
@L3ghair it was an unnecessary victory. Either he should have beaten CM Punk and continued his reign or lose to CM Punk and the rematch. It didn't make sense for Jon Moxley to win then lose at Full Gear or whatever PPV it was, THEN win the title back because CM Punk got fired.
@dagur3 the match might have been good but there was no reason for CM Punk to lose if he was going to be champion in the end regardless. It's an unnecessary title change, like Drew McIntyre losing the WWE Championship to Randy Orton in 2020
I also looked through that comment from a wasted/missed opportunity perspective. Like... Wardlow, for example. I can see how that could be considered a missed or wasted opportunity in hindsight considering how his popularity was allowed to fizzle out in the way it did.
Its definitely the Hangman match.. QT Marshall when responding to a fan who said it was probably him, said "nope, he asked for the match with me. He wanted someone who was safe in the ring and wouldnt go into business for himself".. thats sounds to me like the Hangman feud but idk the timeline with which match came first, just a guess on my part.
My 5 presumptions after looking at cagematch are... 1. Adam Page- Just based on their history it seems likely he considers any effort he put into a Page match wasted. 2. Moxley- They seemed to have a big fallout in AEW, and there was some screwy booking involved. 3. Bobby Fish- Kicked out of the GTS. Where's the lie? 4. John Silver- Just based on Punk's past disdain for comedy wrestling (despite being friends with Colt Cabana for a majority of his career), I could see Punk viewing a John Silver match as a waste. 5. Eddie Kingston- Both Punk and Eddie wear their hearts on their sleeves, so I assume there was some truth behind their animosity for one another. King and Punk were shooting shots at one another in promos before Page even cut his arguably forgettable needling promo. I put him low because I could see some begrudging respect between the two existing and Punk probably enjoying everything he did with Eddie despite the assumed hard feelings between the two.
Yeah, it was in the build to Punk's match with MJF and he had to face FTR in a tag match, typical MJF gauntlet stuff, but MJF specified Punk couldn't have Darby Allin or Sting as his tag partner, so Punk's partner ended up being Jon Moxley in his first match back from rehab.
I think CM Punk is referencing the question as "nothing worth to the business". You can have a match with your best friend or worst enemy, but if it doesn't contribute anything gain-wise to the business, then it wasn't worth doing. Essentially, if it made money or not. CM Punk is a business guy after all.
I love how Steve has to keep reiterating that this is for entertainment purposes. Opening with him stuffing muffins in his grill should make that self explanatory.
From how he's acted towards AEW since leaving, Id say Punk would feel all these matches were "wasted" but then I also expect him to show back up in the company in a decade/if theres a regime change
I just wanted to say here that the Kingston match can go either way cause of course he was going to win but imagine the story if he lost in a squash (since the story up to that point was he was barely getting by jobbers)
I think Spears vs Him is not one he would say is wasted. It built the MJF match alongside the Wardlow match. So I highly doubt that is a wasted match. Past that everything else I think is correct for it :)
I know CM Punk probably means Hangman cause he hates Hangman. But yeah he wasted some matches. Off the top of my head, John Silver, QT Marshall, Lee Moriarty, Bobby Fish, Matt Sydal. Why did AEW waste Punk on these guys. No wonder he got injured.
Before even watching this and I’ll also refrain from any backhanded comments outta respect to Gypsy, but the main guy he’s talking about is Adam page with other contenders beings, Garcia, Fish, and Moxley. It’s funny how he felt he was wasted in some matches in AEW, considering the fact that I think WWE is wasting him right now by not having him wrestle more. He’s been back for almost a year in WWE and he’s only wrestled two guys in 5 singles matches so far. One of who is….Dominick Mysterio…..
I think by “wasted” he might have been thinking the rub didn’t help them in the long run.
Also that they don't understand the business
I know, are most of them even with AEW at all? Lol
Bobby Fish kicking out of the GTS at 3.1 prolly inspired this comment lol.
