Imagine. If someone from Google watched this and pushed out an update to play audio from the dock and the tablet at the same time... Imagine, what a world that would be.

The problem is this wanders into the exact gray area of speaker grouping where Google would have limited functionality because of patents in place by Sonos. This infringement is what cost Google tens of millions to Sonos just a couple years ago.

Hey Shortcircuit, for your battery tests you should test at the same perceived brightness (in nits) instead of 50% brightness. If the phone can get way brighter that means you won't have to have it at 50% brightness but can have it at 35% to have the same visuals and that makes the tablet come out better than it really would in real life.

    • @nothinginteresting1833
      @nothinginteresting1833 ปีที่แล้ว

@@nothinginteresting1833 I disagree, if the basic level to be useful as a tablet is 300 nits brightness(example value could be 200 or whatever, just make it a standard level), it would be better to test at the same brightness value across all devices, if a Basic tablet can only survive 1 hour at a useable brightness then it is shit and should appear shit on the graph.

It's not nothing that the tablet itself is a fine tablet that isn't going to amaze people because the bar is so low, and hopefully if Google cares about this long enough (yes I know, that's why it took so long for me to buy a Pixel) we can see some real progress on the hardware and software side.

The dealbreaker for me was if the hub could be used as a media output for the tablet. Such a dumb, shortsighted decision that will result in landfills full of ewaste for no reason other than a slightly slightly slightly smaller initial cost.

Does it offer the same stuff that Nest hub offers? Meaning can I use it in the Good morning routine, set a spaghetti timer, and also connect to other Google smart devices to make a group? Currently I have Google home and Nest Hub in a group to amplify the sound through my apartment. This for me is important as those connections are vital whether to I purchase it or not

I returned mine. The speaker quality on the base stand is not good. The tablet is slow and clunky. And many Android apps don't run on a tablet.
Should have been ChromeOS so you can use Linux features.

I knew it was a matter of time before Google realized their Nest speakers were just budget tablets strapped to a huge speaker.

Chrome OS is a better tablet OS than Android. It's able to run android apps natively and has better multi window and multi user support. Android being mainly designed for smartphones is very lacking in those 2 areas, which are very common use cases for tablets. Not to mention Chrome OS has a desktop browser (TH-cam with adblock anyone?) and other desktop capabilities, like multi screen support.

The only recurring issue I have seen is the OS and processer being to slow and unusable.

I feel like the only reason it has a barrel plug is so that you don't take the whole dock to another room where you may already have a USB-C plugged in, trying to push users towards buying a second dock.

i would like to see google update the tablet to use the tablet speakers be tweeters and the dock speakers for mid's and bass . it still wouldn't sound great but it would definitely have a much better sound than what they currently have. this is actually a pretty good idea especially not with google assistant with bard coming. and possibly add some of the pixel excusive features like quick phrases and the great transcribing for messaging or email.

This is what, Google’s 6th or 7th tablet? Like there was the xoom (codeveloped with Motorola), nexus 7 2012 and 2013, nexus 10, nexus 9, and pixel slate. So whether you count the xoom or not (I do), it’s either the 6th or 7th gen tablet from Google.
And they still haven’t gotten it right.

I could see some people who have security cameras set up around their house housing this as a viewing deck to flip the camera around the building/house or just videos like the layout need to put more into it though.

I've recently noticed that ShortCircuit has never featured any HyperX products, is there something specific for why or just a coincidence? Their products are generally good and a great option for its prices.

@@GH0STST4RSCR34M Not on every product, because they actually rebrand pretty decent products (mostly headphones), however they triple the price from the original. That's why people that never had a decent pair of headphones generally like Cloud II (Takstar Pro 80/82), Cloud Orbit S (Audeze Mobius), etc. They are usually competent, but they are VERY overpriced.

I picked one of these up to replace my ancient Lenovo tablet and its great! Just like its designed to be it basically stays at home and I'll use it for reading, videos, internet etc. and I can side load all the apps I regularly use which I wouldnt have on a ipad. The dock makes it really great for watching a video in bed and stuff. If you are already using a tablet regularly like I was and looking for an upgrade but want to stick to android this is excellent. I recomend it.

why not eq the sound when it's on the dock? LOL informative but a great amount of critical opinion. This was designed for a certain consumer which based on owner reviews and other pro reviews is a vast improvement and hits a sweet spot in the market
