I’m so glad to know there is another family who react to almost everything with laughter. Many, many people do not understand, but it can make so many things bearable.
Always enjoy you Julie! It is nice to get to know you through sharing your stories. I think that one of the best parts of taking a live workshops is to get to know the artist themselves. Joe Miller is always telling stories during his workshops, and I thinks that is why everyone feels so close to him.
I have watched many of your "2 minute" tips and have learned a lot. But this one was my favorite. Getting to know you and hearing your stories was fascinating. I'm going to my studio tomorrow and painting just for the fun of it, without any expectation of results. I think this is just the inspiration I needed to get out of my rut. So thanks for sharing a personal part of you with us. I feel like I have a new friend.
I, too, respond to stressful situations with inappropriate humor, so I got a great laugh out of your grandma story! This is was so much fun to watch and I'm inspired to go noodle around!
I needed this message, Julie. I was feeling stuck approaching my materials thinking I had to have a plan for something meaningful. Thank you so much for the permission to have fun, explore, and even learn from the materials, with freedom....just because I showed up and did whatever I wanted on the page. 💜
Free form...how great. This is a reminder to me to get the play back into my art. And the stories were great...and yes, kayaking easy water is just the best.
Different. Kooky. Laughed out loud. Realized I haven't had Seriously Hysterical Adventures in decades. Wishing Julie would open an art camp for the emotionally constipated. Please tell me which senior community you will be in and I will retire there.
Love your story about kayaking in the rain with your family. We have 2 ocean kayaks and my adult son bought a tandem. We could kayak to the Pacific on the Russian River and someday will. Until the local lakes are like magic. I do a lot of watercolor swatching and color combo charts. I learn a lot from that process. I have no idea how to share them with you. :-)
Well... I'm like you, Julie. I've been an artist since age 5, or 6. like you I'm sure. But more to the point of my comment. It was about 1976 and my cousin and I were driving to New Mexico for a visit to the family cabin. We lived in Texas, and it was hot as all get out, as it always is in July. Anyway, the highway asphalt was melted to an extent. My cousin was driving the pickup (it's Texas and so, a pickup). We were passing an 18 wheeler on the left of the divided 4 lane. Well, my cousin went hypnotized by the road for a minute, and he wasn't responding to the car ahead of us that was turning left at the crossover, but just hanging there in our lane. We were getting closer and closer but Cuz was just driving along at about 70. Finally I yelled at him, Randy! Look out! That snapped him awake and he slammed on the brakes of the Chevy. The road was so slick with melted asphalt and I looked to my right, at the huge wheels of that 18 wheeler. I watched us slide right into the wheel and bounce off it. Then we were off, spinning a 360 or two on the OTHER side of the highway. I was laughing hysterically, and my cousin is trying to regain control of the truck. He did, and we came to a stop without us being hit by any oncoming traffic. But he was really mad at ME! He didn't like that laughing. I didn't go to sleep at the wheel, and I might have saved our butts but oh well...
Oh. Nooooo… that horrifying! I’m glad you guys are okay! I think I would beware of any more road trips with the cousin! 😳 Thanks for sharing your story! Julie
Thanks Julie! This was fun! I have to admit I was a little distracted by the watercolor painting in the upper right corner of the screen. I would love to see the whole painting! :-) Was it part of a 2 minute art tip? Inquiring minds want to know!
Hey Terri… Yeah we do! This painting was created during a prior video. Link is here! Thanks for watching and thanks for your question! 😁 Julie th-cam.com/video/GiYoB7OCLDI/w-d-xo.html
Hey Leesha… I would like to say every day but that wouldn’t be honest. It really is 5 days a week. But, I get overwhelmed and I have to have a day here and there for my brain to process. So, I find I actually do better when I feel overwhelmed to just be still… and work when I am ready. So… there it is! Thanks for your question and for watching! 😊 Julie
Fireworks story: needed some women to do safety check (attention to detail) making sure all fireworks were bolted down prior to ignition. I learned that lesson when our kayaks flew off the car on the expressway. My husband forgot to lock them down. Fortunately nobody was driving behind us. Not. Funny. At. all.
Agree. Anytime I trusted my ex it was a disaster. Camping without a tent. Air tickets to return from France a month later than our planned date. Etc. after 16 years of disasters like that big and small, I gave up.
So good to be reminded of the fun factor! I think that is why I used to enjoy and had better success with in person classes because talking while you paint takes your mind off of the finished painting! Sadly I have nowhere to go for in person classes anymore🥲

As soon as you said "engineers" I knew we were in for a great story! Thanks for the laughter.
Love it Julie. The dashes look like skiers skiing down a mountain of fresh snow.👍❤️👏
Martha Greer here. Got a tremendous gift for my birthday from my family in Zionsville all Cheap Joes supplies. Talk about happy. Iam a lucky girl.
Love this! Thank you. Would like to see it become a regular feature!
Recently I started practicing just negative painting of abstract shapes just to practice watercolour....it's so meditative. This is relaxing ☺️
thank you SOOOOOOO much for the gift of this notion; just what I needed & didn't know(yet)

What a fantastic show! Julie is amazing!
haven't seen you in a while and relly enjoyed this.
I’m crying. So funny !
Thank you, Julie. This did me a lot of good from an art perspective, and was definitely fun as well.

I can't believe you can talk and paint. I'm so deep in my left brain, I can't find any words when I try to talk!
Same!

This may be my favorite 2-Minute tip yet! Thank you so much for this beautiful affirmation!
I really enjoy listening to anything you share with us!
Thank you for this...really enjoyed it 🤣
Very nice paint and chat. Glad grandma is ok! 😊
Great!! More Julie!!
This was just awesome! fun and relaxing. I would like to see this more often. At least once a month if you could.
Loved this. Playing and not being so tense and afraid of the paper which I sometimes deal with😃
More of these please!
Nice to see how you enjoy “the process,”. Thank you

Enjoyed your stories .
Funny story. I laugh when it's crazy too. Martha
fun stories. had me laughing.
This the only way I paint. So peaceful not knowing where it will go.
Our kayaking story included lightening!
Us too! It was less than awesome… 😵💫 Julie

I’m curious, how often do you paint, Julie? Thank you for sharing your gifts with us!

Sometimes there's nothing else you can do but laugh at the situation.
Is this masking tape or is there something actuallly called artists tape?
Yeah, it’s our own Cheap Joe’s Artist Tape! It’s great! 👍🏻 Julie
Thanks for your question…

Yeah… you are correct… that isn’t funny! 🙄 Thanks for watching and your comments! Julie
I want painting!!!!! not blah. blah, blah.
That’s cool… we have that too. They are different. Thanks! Julie 😀
Very OCD
Sounds like you are saying that like it’s a bad thing… 😉 Julie
