John Oliver, being booed at a Sesame Street event, is so on brand because he could not stay silent in front of some corporate nonsense, and I love that for him
I had a bit of a flashback to Gervais hosting the Golden Globes and roasting Tim Cook (amongst others). We need more people calling out hypocrisy straight to those corporate faces.
I just want to know what person at the Sesame Street company looked at the bank that they were honouring with a fake award and went "You know who should be within 100 miles of this building when we do this? John Oliver" because either that person is blissfully innocent and must be protected at all costs or is an agent of chaos and needs to be feared and respected because they can create problems wherever they go!
This is why I love John Oliver. He _knew_ it was going to be bad, but he still called BoA for their bullshit marketing. A little bit of charity doesn't undo all of the ghoulishness they've wallowed in, and they SHOULD be called on it at every opportunity.
Exactly. Sesame Street shouldn't want money that BoA made off of the backs of hard working families. The words Bank and Kindness don't go together in the same sentence.
John should be a Sesame Street character. He could be Burt’s sarcastic British cousin who breaks down the bleak reality of existence to the kids in short, whimsical tales.
Ernie "Here fishy fishy fishy." John Oliver "Ernie I know this a bit, but people die every year from fish jumping into boats and knocking people like yourself out of the boat who aren't wearing life preservers. Incredible story. I loved the bit about Bert turning to glare at John even more when I realized that meant the puppeteer made the choice to make him do that lmao
The Muppeteers are, no joke, some of the funniest, fast-thinking, witty human beings on the planet. The videos with Cookie Monster and John are proof to me, the outtakes especially. Critical thinking involves the process of listening to someone else, understanding what they say or do and then providing critical thought as to why that person behaves as they do...whether you agree with them or not. You cannot wave the notion of critical thinking around whilst being so close minded and not employing it yourself.
@@randyschwaggins I'm curious to know what you think "critical thought" is actually for. I would argue, that if it isn't used to inform ones actions (i.e. vocalizing your formed critique) it is not useful at all. Seems to me like you are advocating for docility and refrain from actual critique whilst critiquing op yourself and accusing them of being close-minded without any evidence to support that claim. I love how Seth always introduces John as "our good friend". ❤ Also John - what are you doing there, should I check the news if another royal has died?
For 15 years, Jon Stewart kept me sane and laughing. John Oliver brought it to another level. His show sincerely keeps me from losing the little bit of faith I have left in human kind. I never thought the world had so much horrible and stupid people. Now I know, but John and his team are surely some the best people in the world. We're very lucky we have him.

Who could with such hypocrisy
It's the gall of the corporate exec, for saying something like that, thinking no one would call her out on it. Good for John.
