Lovely to see 'Branca' is still driving and is still fast. During the group A era he drove Alfas, BMW's, Rovers, Volvos and Fords. This RS500 is the one he drove (with the other drivers listed on the front wing) to win the 1989 Spa 24 hours race. Fast in just about everything he drove. A true legend.
delightful! thank you for uploading this. what a car, what a driver and what a sound! the way he covers the ground is superb, using all the track and hes really pushing it in places 👍. I saw this car at oulton park about 2 years ago, beautiful machine and great to see them being used properly.
Meet Gianfranco last year at Oulton Park Gold Cup and hes such a nice guy and by the look of it, the car still has the dent in the door from when he hit Jason Minshaw in his Volvo S40 ST
This is what ALL modern historic racing should be about, a proper driver, pushing a car close to its limits, not the parade garbage so much historic racing s there days, rich men driving around slower than I drive to work
timruddell125 The GTR is what retired the RS500 from being king, especially at Bathurst, the GTRs made the RS500s look slow and Im a Ford fan but that's the truth.
For me the RS500 is still the king of Gr. A. The R32 came too late but in Australia they battled against. And these "old" RS500's sometimes kicked in the ass of Godzilla thanks to the well designed basic and the continous development. But really hard to compare an RWD 2.0 turbo turbo car and an AWD 2.6 TT racecar. They are not in the same league...
@@EugVR6 well I don't know about slow...dick Johnson may have something to say on that...on many occasions DJ was as fast and sometimes faster.....unfortunately the gtr was too strong....still...I took 4wd..2 turbos.. 2.6ltr and 4wheel steer to beat the cozzie...it was already an old car by the time of the r32... but theres no shame in losing to godzilla.
@@feydespiel. Definitely no shame in losing to Godzilla and those two cars delivered great battles. I'm not saying the RS500 was slow because it wasn't by a long shot but the RS500 was old tech by the 90s, Subaru and Mitsibushi were killing the Escort Cosworth in rallying and when the Mondeo v6 BTCC car came out, it had 320hp and fwd but Ford said it was 4 seconds a lap faster around Brands Hatch GP circuit in testing against the Cosworth.

Brilliant video, loved it.. Alex.
I'm in love! I'd be happy if our Sierra Coupe went half as well! ❤
More power that grip, and very little aero....sorts the men from the boys!
One of Rudi’s cars doing what it does best
Lovely beast. I hope the camera was lower so we can see the track ahead
Bloody fantastic
EXCELLENT
Fantastic :)
Thank you !
Great video - just needs the camera to be a tad lower to get a better view of the track
greatest touring car of all times +500bhp
Elle "marche du feu de Dieu" cette Sierra Cosworth ❗👍🔥🏎️🏁🤓🇫🇷
100% of the horsepower of a GT3, 10% of the downforce. Beautiful driving. It would be amazing to see it and an R32 GTR battling at Spa.
