I'm a 2nd year animation student and I often find myself having a hard time learning even the most basic thing in every software. Your tutorial is really helping me out here!!
I like how I've had CS6 for fifteen years and just in the beginner section of this video I'm learning stuff, like how to reset rotation... What I get for never having been shown how to use the program. lol (And how dare you draw a nearly perfect circle so easily on the first try...) This has been an amazing tutorial, thank you.
Related 630 There are several tips about which functions of Photoshop to learn first The selection feature Image merging Layers (I learned about these and more from Trevs photo blueprint site )
i'm fully aware that it's impossible to compare CS6 to the newest versions but I will ask anyway - is CS6 still good enough in 2021 mainly for graphic design?
it's much easier to go to layer> video layers> new blank video layer, so you don't need to create 1 copy of each layer to animate, to do the in-between is also something that makes it much easier, even without having taught the way I learned to use it I really liked the video and it taught me a new way to use photoshop thanks
Just came across this tutorial for help with my digital imaging course, and this is probably one of the best tutorials I've seen so far! Good job, and thank you! :)
😍😍 it's so helpful for me i dont need to find another program to make 2d animation. Also i know how to draw with Photoshop no need to take times to learning more .i really love this tutorial and it help me so much. I knew how to use pose to pose method but i didn't know how to mix 2 methods together in Photoshop. Thank u
I have a problem at 16:00, when I use the lasso tool and try to move the art on the copy of layer 1 it just saids Could not use the move tool because the Timeline play head is not over the target layer in the Timeline.
Good tutorial. just a few questions. If you have already designed animation frames (rather then drawing your character as you go in the "onionskin" view) can you drop existing created frames into the video group? What's the best way to drop an already designed group of frames into a video group? What made you choose 12 frames per second as opposed to 24? just how fast or slow your character went? Thanks
I just asked almost the same question and realized this video is 3 years old and there are no replies. If you could help shed light on this id be very grateful.
Nice job on the tutorial! I first used photoshop to create my animations, but I might move to Kirta or another free animation software that is better for animation.
Hello, with "Video Groups" how would I insert a frame inbetween two other frames without shifting the timing of all the other drawings downstream? I would like all the frames that come in after the insert inbetween to keep their place in the timeline.
Hey, I love your tutorials, I have a question about my own channel. Is it allowed to screen record phosotop and mac osx behind for tutorials and commercial used them here, like you do? Do we need special license from software comps?
I have a question. Im currently learning animation. If creating a static background in photoshop, what dpi should I save them for use on larger screens? like a HDMI home projector or huge tv? I keep seeing videos that say make them at 92 dbi, but that looks pixelated. Also, is 24 frames fps a standard in cinema? or used only by the highest in cinema like Ghibli and Disney?
Dpi doesn't matter in this case, as that's only for printing. What is important is your project's resolution. 1920 x 1080 is a fairly standard HD size, but you can look up the resolution of your projector or TV to see what it uses. And yes, most animated movies are in 24fps. Hope this helps! :)
You are learning very well just click of the mouse does not appear. With the brush tool selected, please click with the mouse wherever you click on a panel and not To erase the tablet's selection
Im using PS CC 2015... at 11:26 i cannot delete the BG frame... when i select it and hit delete, it deletes my drawn layer frame at the right Layers panel instead... i tried right clicking that bg frame and the only options of removal is " Dispose" which doesn't get removed and still includes in the frame when played. Help!
nvm i figured it out.. u need to go to the tiny "stack of pancakes" bar at the btm right and click delete frame.. guess they didnt put shortcut yet in 2015
At 9:09 it might sound complicated but its easy to understand... He's making a third layer as the same as the first to save time(sorta like DrangonBalls E does somtimes).., Again it made be hard to do/understand but it's not it just take's time (even tho he makes morei did not watch the full vid when comminting dis lol)
13:45 - I can't see neither the 'Create Video Timeline nor Create Frame Animation'. I only have the blank grey timeline without no options. Can anyone help me why? It'd be super helpful. Thanks in advance! :)
You should be able to! I would try using Select All (Ctrl + A) and Copy (Ctrl + C) to copy a frame from your sequence, and then Paste it (Ctrl + V) into your animation and set it to the correct frame. Hope this helps!
I DID NOT KNOW PHOTOSHOP COULD DO THESE MAGICAL THINGS THANK YOU

Hi Jesse is it possible to animate JPG photo in any animation software or it has to be illustrated or vectorized first ?
Hi! Yes, you can import most kinds of images into Photoshop to animate with! They can be illustrated or vectorized files. :)

I don't see the option to choose between frame and video. it was frame animation by default, do you have any idea?
