Hi, I missed this about gyros: "Gyro Array blocks work best when their axis of rotation is aligned coherently with the same axis traced from ship's Center of Mass".
From what I understand gyros work best as long blocks away from the center of mass. The direction you want to apply force is based on the axis from the center of the ship. you can see this axis when you turn on mirror mode. Most people fly ships with a mouse. So I kept it simple and built with that in mind.
That goes for thrusters, but for gyros it's the other way around. I justed tested this with a gyro that generates pitch on a ship with a H shape looking from above. When i place the gyro at the front or back it generates 0.52 extra pitch, but when i place it at the center it generates 0.56 extra pitch. The pitch gyro should be placed near the line from left to right thats goes through the center of mass. The yaw gyro should be near the line from top to bottom that goes through the center of mass.
I can confirm gyros working better the closer they are to the center of mass. Thrusters need a moment arm to work, the further they are from the center of mass the better
Thrusters work better the farther they are away from center of mass because of the greater leverage gyros are the other way around and work Best when in the Center of the ship. so ideally when Building big heavily armored ships like a Star destroyer or a sovereign class enterprise which is say longer or wider than 50 Blocks you Want gyros as the First Block you place Right in the Middle / Center and thrusters to assist in outer starboard or Port edges of the ship (left or Right edge that is) or in the outer edge of bow and Stern (Front or back). A General rule of thumb is that the Blocks are more effective when bigger. The Cargo is Special in that regard. If you have one big Block say 5x5x10 then that is better than 2 smaller Blocks that have the Same volume. So as already mentioned in the Video that also should be one of the First Blocks to place because then it is easier to „make it fit“ unless you specifically just Want to slap it under or on top of your ship
Framework is the most important block. It lets you shape your ship however you want and then go back to replace it with the right amount of functional components where you need them.
Thank you for the Avorion guides! These are vey helpful. Please consider publishing an Avorion Let's Play campaign. That would be fun as well as educational. +1 Subscriber.
Glad it's helpful. I am thinking about doing a lets play for this game. I would like to form a alliance on a server with the public. I think it would be a bit more interesting.
Dead meme, do you think that dedicated ships such as a cloning and training vessel with dedicated fighter manufacturing and carrying carriers be effective or a jack of all trades ship be good? What type of weapon would be best on a fighter, and would legendary fighter be better assuming same material and weapon? Could the wormhole guardian be farmed infinitely by deliberately failing the event that leads to it respawning and then killing it multiple times by failing the event?
My Carriers have jobs, So I have some for fighting which only hold mixed unites of combat fighters, also repair Carriers are much better after the last patch. and I use salvage and mining Carriers which only carry utility fighters.

Thanks for helping to clarify. It makes it better not just for me but anyone else

Bro I'm actually going to scream, this whole time I never knew you could get rid of that stupid beginner piece...

Thanks man this will help a lot
Nice building tutorial!
Thanks glad it helped
Thank you.
