For those who aren’t in the know, including you Jobby, Windblade is actually the first transformers character added to the comics by community vote. They asked the community what they wanted, and the community wanted a female Autobot with a jet mode. And boom! Here we are!

Windblade sure gained a lot of popularity in recent years. I believe the first time I ever saw her was in the Robots in Disguise series. The recent one. The one that's supposedly a sequel series to Transformers Prime.
Wierd how after that massive push in prominence by Hasbro themselves, she hasn't iven been mentioned on recent media. Just odd if you asked me.

1. Your transformation sequences will never feel redundant. They're clear, concise and to the point.
2. I agree with you about the vehicle mode. It’s better to have things lock together instead of relying on the joins being tight.

This Windblade design really screams less of the Transformers vibe but more of the "Mecha Musume" look to it, probably want to attract the mecha musume enthusiast since the model kit version of it is well received (albeit its so pricy for what its getting).

Absolutely agreed on the transformation, it feels less like the robot is converting into a jet and more like she’s doing some weird ass yoga pose that happens to somewhat resemble a jet.

This figure is what I thought Nicee should've been. Kinda sexualized but more on the charming and pretty side and she doesn't loose as much of her warrior side even with all that, incredible figure.
The jet mode reminds me a lot of Gundam jet modes. At least this figure hid the hands and feet, unlike a lot of Gundams which are just chilling under the bottom in a weird posture.
Laying on your belly does not make it a transformation. I can't stand Gundams like that. At least _try._

This is the difference between starting with the vehicle mode and turning it into a robot vs starting with the robot then turning it into a vehicle. This figure definitely prioritized the sexy fembot mode.
Windblade is one of the best female Transformers ever and this design for her is amazing

Windblade is a quirky character from idw who is now a recognizable character within the world of transformers third-party and official figs of her are always gonna be a buy for me not just for the character but for the way they can make her robot and jet mode work while still making her sexy

I like it when a transformer fits together well as opposed to being loose goosey. Makes it feel like an actual transformation as opposed to weirdly posing.
Hm, I agree with the purpose driven modes. It's just feels more satisfying to reach a defined end goal, and not something that you have to convince yourself is the right one
Been following this since announcement and thought about it, i was very happy to see the final version has a much better paint finish than the prototype shots, which was overly glossy. Love the "bow" and her details, and the jetmode slaps imo. It's gonna be hard to do anything else with those legs so i can't be hard on the transformation.

I agree about transformation. especially about cybertronian modes. It's cool if you want to have an interpretation as a play choice but design choice it has to be intentional to feel complete.

It’s like the design team for this figure looked at the backlash FansToys received for Rouge and decided “Yeah, no, we ain’t going down that road; we get that SOME collectors are expecting a ‘sexy’ version of a badass fembot, but dammit, we gotta have SOME measure of class about it!” And it looks like they kinda pulled it off?
While I have no intention of ever getting this figure (the problem with being poor, I suppose), I can at least respect what the designers were trying to accomplish.

Nah i agree with the alt mode thing. The execution is well done but sometimes there are exceptions to the rule and she is one of the few. Very. Very. Few. Exceptions.
Sometimes you just want a clean and sturdy vehicle or animal mode. (Nitro Zeus being a mainstream example having absolutely no reason to look that clean and sturdy)

This review was really accurate and right on. I have Windgirl and the other Windblade figures, and the figure itself is great. The stand is crap and sucks, so I'm glad you pointed that out.

I agree with the transformation argument. If nothing locks in for the alt mode, the figure winds up feeling like you’re just fan-moding a bionicle, point the arms and legs to twist it into some alien car.

It's not just about the dumpy and the belly button, the wide birthing hips are also somewhat an odd feature for a fully robotic species. But yeah, it's all about what the original makers wanted to create and just like the actual humans which created this design, we could assume the alien species in the lore responsible for the shape of the Transformers also appreciate these features for some reason. 🤔The real universe is certainly big enough that another sentient species that likes sexy robots exists out there somewhere.
