  • The Battle for Earth from B5's Endgame (episode 20, season 4). Please note this is all the relevant CGI extracted in order from the episode.
I recently started re-watching (yet again) my Babylon 5 DVD box set collection. Figured I'd do a favour to all my subscribers that did so because of the B5 content I uploaded in the past.
Although it's entertainment, we can also consider it educational for anyone studying CGI of the mid 90's.
    This is a non-monetized channel.

i wonder how many of the minbari that were present secretly enjoyed opening fire on the earth defense grid modules

I always thought after this...now Earth has to spend billions more in credits to rebuild their entire planetary defense grid. (Which they did, it's seen in A Call to Arms, set about 6 years later).

Better that than the damage the defense grid would have done to Earth itself if allowed to fire.

I think that there would have been considerable opposition to rebuilding the defence network as it was, given how easily it had almost been turned against Earth itself. Redesigning that sort of system from the ground up to avoid such a catastrophic outcome repeating itself would take years, perhaps a decade or more. And in the meantime if Earth can maintain a fleet or even limited manned defences then there might not be any perceived need to rush out a new orbital defence grid.

Cleaning up the space junk will be a headache though.

Those planetary defense satellites are beasts. One big ass particle beam and 3 turrets and 18 heavy missiles and two 2-sided missile pods with total of 96 smaller missiles. If I remember the lore correctly resistance sabotaged missiles nuclear warheads leaving only kinetic impact of missiles themselves. If those particle beams would've been charged before the attack and all those nuke warheads worked... yikes.

It’s interesting that the EA never put those around B5 for defense but instead thought a few hidden weapons and a couple flights of fighters was enough to secure the (arguably) most important EA station out there.

@@tarn1135 Remember that Babylon stations 1 thru 3 were sabotaged during construction. And then when Babylon 4 that had all the bells and whistles including ability to move just disappeared. Earth gov was ready to call quits when Minbari made offer to pay part of the costs. After that Babylon 5 was partly made from leftover scraps. And as B5 was mainly a diplomatic station defence wasn't a priority.

Where you read that the resistance sabotaged the missile at?

Earth Alliance is one jf the strongest galactic powers and the Interstellar Alliance is fortunate to have it as a member state.

Should've left those first three mini clips out, unrelated to the battle. Nice otherwise.

There was no tension here at all. Considering Mimbari were OP against Earth forces during first War, they were even more OP against Earth with White Stars. So Mimbari combined with other forces was just overkill against Earth Alliance at this point.

The Battle was to save Earth from the Defense grid. If even one of them managed to fire, millions wouldve died. One platform wouldve been able to level most of America's Eastern seaboard

    • @DrOneOneOne
      @DrOneOneOne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I dunno. I kinda thought the orbital platforms seemed ridiculously difficult to destroy given the far superior alien weapons being used against them. It's also hard to imagine that spacecraft would find it difficult to shoot down incoming missiles the size of ICBMs.

The point of this one was to be as surgical as possible. Limit the damage to the minimum degree necessary to force a surrender.
