    So many great moments here. My top three:
    The Vree just swooping in and tearing up a bunch of Vorlon fighters and even an actual, whole Shadow Battle Crab. Those saucers are stronger than they look!
    The Thunderbolts (new EA fighters) and Minbari craft coordinating in a joint formation. Theirs is the only fighter group not to take losses in that battle, too.
    The First Ones all warping out of hyperspace in a joint "surprise mother f'ers!" moment, and wasting no time opening a can of whoop ass on the planet killer. They took that monster of a ship out in ten seconds flat. I like to imagine that planet killers offended them deeply.

    The "Triad" Hyper-Plasma Cutter. The "Thought Force" Ultra Pulse Cannons. Firstones' weapons are extremely powerful. That Vorlon planet killer was destroyed in 9 seconds. Cool fact is the walker's Sigma ship uses its communication array as a weapon. It's the ship with the pretty lights and 'Rainbow lightning'.
    I've noticed the 'Dark Knife' ship didn't get much screen time. Just 4 seconds! :(

      I mean, if you really dig into the Bible...you find that God and Jesus are very much the Villains. Murder, torture, rape, slavery...all condoned against "unbelievers". God even murders the entire world at one point to cover-up his OWN mistake. Jesus never actually preaches loving others, but in loving him and god above all else, at the expense of all else. All of the old testament laws are still in FULL effect, even with all their draconian punishments (like...the death penalty for mouthing off to your parents...remember that).
      This is pretty much how it goes down. Aside from the fact that, outside of Revelations, the "devil" is never once evil or selfish. Never lies, never harms anyone, and sometimes goes out of their way to help people. In Revelations...everyone is the bad-guy. Like...that whole shtick is just fucked up...I don't know WHY anyone thinks anything about that is well-done, even for its time period.

      @@brummyuk2151 I'm not sure Vorlon ships are superior. Shadow vessel weapons were designed specifically to penetrate Vorlon shields, like they've been in an arms race for billions of years. Even if you're right and Vorlon ship were more advanced, the Shadows had WAY more ships in their galactic fleet, I mean like millions of times as many as the Vorlons and First Ones had. The Vorlons could never have defeated the Shadows in a total war, no one could.

      me too! And this Shadow Death Cloud!

    • @adamwu4565
      @adamwu4565 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Vorlon ships seem more powerful one to one than Shadow ships, but this could be a result of a different design philosophy and not an indication of having superior technology, with the Vorlons deciding to build a smaller number of powerful juggernauts, while the Shadows distribute their firepower over a larger number of less powerful but likely less costly to build ships.
      When the two fleets were closing in on each other, notice that the Shadows started firing first. This could be an indication that their weapons range and/or ability to track targets at a distance is slightly superior. The Shadows’ method of entering Hyperspace is also faster and more sophisticated, and less vulnerable to disruption than the jump points the Vorlons still use. Finally, while the Vorlon Planet Killer is more powerful, being able to vaporize an entire planet, while the Deathcloud only sterilizes a planetary crust, the Deathcloud is a more versatile weapon that can do many more things. And as we learn in A Call to Arms, it is also a planet sized megastructure capable of changing form at will. All in all it is a more impressive feat of engineering and demonstration of technological prowess than the Planet Killer, which is just a giant ship with a giant gun and very thick armor.
      These and other hints in the series suggest that the Shadows are ever so slightly more technologically advanced than the Vorlons.

      @@adamwu4565 Thank you for this very well written post. That was very informative to read. A small addition I wanted to make. The Shadows needed to wage war against all the younger races across the galaxy; this likely was an important factor in creating less powerful ships and mass-produce them instead.

      Yes there is 'bad blood' between the Walkers and the Vorlons.
      In the quasi-canon B5 wars, the Vorlons were bitter that the Walkers wouldn't share their hyperspace tech.
      So they launched a planet at one of the Walkers "database" worlds and obliterated it while they were off scouting the multiverse.
      This was forgiven during the Great Shadow War.
      But then eons later the Vorlons wanted to build a gateway to "heaven" and the Walkers warned them not to do it; they did it anyway and the Harbingers flooded into the Milky Way and that was the Thirdspace War.
      That was the last time the Walkers and Vorlons communicated.

      The Vorlons and Shadows both were holding back a lot.
      The Ships they were using were mostly older models with far more limited tech. As they viewed the younger races as primitive children.
      The Shadows leaving Ships all over the place, was not just caches for Asymmetrical Warfare, they were left as gifts/tests for younger Races.
      See how much they could learn and mimic or surpass, see if they noticed the traps in them etc.
      Vorlons though did not like gifting tech in the same way. The White Stars were very carefully controlled release of Tech to a select subfaction of Minbari.
      Vorlon Hyperspace Vortex Tech was what they wanted others to learn as a baseline, but they did not share the higher technologies of that same tech path.
      Hyperspace is more easily transitioned the higher your tech level, but as the best at vortexes, the Vorlons could mo itor everyone in Hyperspace bar the Shadows who used Hyperspace Phasing instead of Vortexes.

    This conflict never made any sense to me, Why would you stop them fighting each other? Let them wear each other down then come in, that would have saved thousands of lives of the ships crew that died to first one weapons.

    • @arcuscaelestis8994
      @arcuscaelestis8994 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A few reasons probably. For one Coriana 6 would have been destroyed, which would mean the death of billions. And with the planet destroyed there's no guarentee the Vorlons would have stayed. Their goal would have been achieved. They might well have believed the Shadows were just there to protect their investment. (Now I do believe the Shadows no longer had a base there, as they probably wouldn't have believed Sheridan's ruse of the Alliance setting up a base there to lure the Shadows to Coriana 6 if the Shadows had a base there themselves that could tell them it was not true. )
      A second reason would be that the Vorlons and the Shadows needed to be shown that the younger races had banded together and rejected both their view points. Having the younger races just stand by and watch the grown ups fight would not have made the point that needed to be made; that the younger races were fed up and didn't need them anymore.
      A third reason could well be the fact that the Vorlons did not have their entire fleet there. The fleet at Centauri Prime was one fleet that could have come in later as well and do considerable damage should the First fleet have gotten into a stalemate with the Shadows. And it's likely the Shadows had other fleets out there as well.

      That's how you fight an opponent that matters. The whole idea is that the shadows and vorlons are no longer in charge or needed.

      You missed the key point, both ancients were destroying planets as they fought each other. You would not likely be alive to benefit from their mutual attrition.

      @@annoyed707 Yes but at the battle of Corianas 6 they were killing each other, those were two very large fleets that they could have let fight it out and then mopped up.

      @@deanooooooo6496 Then you'll have another war in a thousand years. This isn't a conflict that ends with fleets and battles, but with demonstrating independence from the older species and the wisdom to find their own path.
