    Just came across your channel so I subscribed, watching the ground work on what I feel is going to be a great layout and channel.

      I appreciate it! Really wanting to get a better camera and learn more editing software so you have better quality content to view.

    Layout is looking great! Might consider starting the mountain in the corner by the jug of glue and letting it flow across the end and down the back of the layout. You could even move the spur up on top of the mountain and make a small spur for a coal truck dump. Keep up the great work!

      1 part white glue, 3 parts water. I also use isopropyl alc to clean the track.

    Would it have been easier to mark off the side rails before installing the tracks together so you can start on the Layout?

    O scale been gaining ground online. Modelers can get together and see each other layout all over country. Just a tip before you get to far. If you use a layer of 1:2 to 1 inch foam board you can carve into making lakes and river easier. And will help with noise.

    Nice work on the ballast. Are you going to remove the screws after the glue dries? Looks better than just the 3 rail track and the gray plastic. Thanks for sharing! Chris @Cbtrainnut!

    What is the purpose of getting dirt from outside then baking and drying it before it is used?

    • @triplertrains
      @triplertrains  ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting dirt allows a more realistic texture to the layout because of all the different sizes of particles you will collect. Its also a heck of a lot cheaper than buying an $11 shaker of fake dirt.
      Baking it ensures the dirt is free of moisture as well as critters and seeds.

    I'm sorry for explaining what a yard is I just noticed it in update #4. I didn't want you to think that this guy has some screws missing

    Like what you are doing, and Like your ideas, I got away from the hobby a little over 20 years ago and just started back last year, haven't built a full layout yet, but have started the collection, trains, track, buildings and vehicles, I'm going fasttrack as well and noise has definitely been a concern, how much do you think the ballast has helped?very interested in what you are trying to accomplish and will definitely follow your progress

      I’m thinking of making a video comparing the difference. Once I screwed down and ballasted the track, the sound was noticeably quieter. Once ballasted the sound became less ear piercing and had a deeper tone. It’s still louder than other brands but is quieter than track sitting on a table.
