    Def oversharing here, but 6 months ago, I tried to end my life. James' analogy of kicking legs off a table is so true...take your mental health seriously as soon as the table starts to wobble. In the time since, I've reflected a lot, covering every single thing he mentions in this video and I'm genuinely in awe at how on point he is. These are the changes I needed to make, and didn't. For anyone reading this, the consequences of ignoring this stuff until it's too late are like you can't imagine, even with all the help and support in the world. It's financial, it's professional, it's so uncomfortably personal. This video is the resource to turn to again and again when you feel your mental state slip.Great work @jamessmithPT

      I like that you boldly shared your story man. It's not oversharing - it could save a life. You never know when someone who's in a dark place might be inspired by hearing your story, ie. "if he can get himself back from the edge, maybe I can too".

    • @dm1978
      @dm1978 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Definitely not oversharing mate. Being over 50, I find that so many of the younger ones around me think that, like you, they're one of the very few that are feeling that way and, because of that, you won't find someone who would understand. Then guys like you show up with their story.
      Yes, it's good to have boundaries with what you share and to whom, but on forums like this where like-minded people come (along with the anonymity of a username), it can really help so many who are at that crossroads where you were. Never underestimate the power of a positive story coming out of a dark place.
      It's not an overstatement to tell you that you've just impacted a lot of people all over the world.

      Breaking up with my ex was the best thing that ever happened to me. I met an amazing woman 8 months after I started just focusing on myself. We’ve dated for a year now.
      But the key part of everything was realizing that piece wasn’t the right fit for my overall puzzle. It sounds like you have clarity now, and are better after the bruising symptoms of breakup and other stuff, but now that you have a clear-headed ness… I think a year from now for you, you will be pretty happy it all happened like it did. Because all of those negatives will turn in to some great wisdom.
      You know what doesn’t work, so that directs you to what might work very well for you.

    I found your channel at just the time where I am in the process of doing the things you are talking about for almost a year, it is nice to have that validation.
    The change in my mood, motivation and body that I have experienced from builidng the habit of excercise is immensely positive. Before, I had to push myself to work out, now it feels harder to not get that jiu jitsu session, run or climbing in during the day. The thing that changed was that I signed myself up for a marathon - I knew I had no chance of finishing it unless I follow the workout plan. The joy from finishing and pride from following the 6 month training program fuels me still 2 months later, now it has become a part of my character. What followed from that was tracking nutrition and feeling healthier, being more sociable and open with people, quitting porn and feeling like the brain is going through a rewiring.
    Still have work to do in the relationship department and finding the work that I truly 100% enjoy, but these videos help with the future outlook. Thank you

    Being able to go to Asia and get pissed every day at 23 suggests that you already started at other people's finish line: a financial cushion. Don't give advice on "unscrewing" your life if you had cheat codes.

      So true! I think James can still give advice, but it would be nice if he acknowledged this and other biases he may be influenced by.

      If you saved from 18 to 23, I’m sure you could afford to do so had it been your ultimate goal no? Asia is quite budget friendly.

      @@yuwelcomeNo, because they're just getting you ready so they can sell you something. Have a little look at James's new "business venture". More snake oil for the masses.

    James I’m a little late to your party but I’m glad I came. Your views aligned with my own. Due to my own prejudices, I don’t typically click on videos like this only because whenever I have I have found that I’m not not a fan of being preached to by a jumped up American 21 year old PT telling me I need to put the beer down at the weekend when with mates and have a protein shake instead (even though said PT is probably coked off his nut most weekends himself), you’re different! I can see why you are successful, you’re not perfect, none of us are and that’s ace! Your points are on point, and realistic. In this Instagram generation, your points are more relevant now than ever. You seem like a really cool guy. And I’m glad your messages have had great traction. Great video! I’m looking forward to watching more. Thanks mate!
