    Summary:
    1. Create a Mental Inventory (map) :
    - Things you need to do
    - Things you should do
    - Things you want to do
    2. Ideation:
For each item in inventory, ask yourself:
    1. Is it vital?
    2. Does it matter?
If answer is no for both questions, cross that item off your list
    3. Set goals:
Break big goals into actionable little projects, that satisfies:
    - No barriers (doesn’t depend on anything)
    - Clearly defined tasks
    - Takes less than a month (If not, split)
    4. Update your map
    5. Form a habit
    Recap: (RID)
    - R: Reflect
Declutter your mind by creating a mental inventory. Get rid of the things that don’t matter
    - I: Ideate:
Focus on things that interest you by designing small actionable projects.
    - D: Dedicate:
Get into a daily habit of updating your mental invetory.

I decided to take notes of important points for me, I end up writing every sentence that you spoke. I felt like every sentence was tailored for me. I am so grateful to you for doing this talk. I am grateful to TH-cam as well for recommending this video, even if TH-cam is responsible for wasting my countless hours on productivity videos from all sorts of self-help gurus, podcast, neuroscientists and what not. I thank God, I suffered diving in the ocean of TH-cam and Self-help books for many years but finally found a real gem.
    Goodbye! TH-cam

The Bullet Journal system changed my life! I, too, struggled with ADD, though I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my 30s. I tried planners more times than I can count, but my life just doesn't fit into tiny premade boxes.
My bookshelves are lined with journals, where I tried to keep track of my many, varied thoughts and interests. But with no organization, it's often a major hassle to find what I am looking for.
The Bullet Journal appeared on my radar about a year or so ago and immediately had my attention. Simple, organized, and custom made by me, for me. Perfect.
Thank you. I can't begin to express how big an impact it has had on my life.

Years ago, when I was working on a project management degree, I started describing the project scope in terms of three lists: must, should, and could. The must was the minimum deliverable, the should was anything that could be added within the available money and time, and the could was anything that could be added with more money and time but generally only if all the musts and some of the shoulds were done.

Wow. This is powerful Thank you for this. I've been struggling for years. It's been a while but yesterday, I just broke down not knowing what to do anymore. Feeling overwhelmed. Not being able to think straight. Could hardly breathe. I have been unconsciously journaling once in a while for years but I recently discovered the wonders of it. So I got myself a traveler's notebook and have started intentionally journaling. It helps unload all these thoughts and feelings and at the same time organize them.

People are losing the essence and the wonders that time has to provide when well administered. Family pleasures, joys with friends, peace and silence in the moments of reflection that are very important for our intellectual development in the professional environment as well as in the personal environment.
Technology has developed and accelerated the search for this information and has expanded the creativity of many people for fast and strong internet access, but we can not lose our ability to interact socially because of this. With Bullet journal it is incredible and efficient and best of all it gives you the creative freedom to choose how information will be released creating a healthy and nostalgic environment that is when we consult our day to day, analyze our achievements and satisfaction Of the task completed.
Congratulations. You have already made your mark on history.

I first tried keeping a brain on paper as a kid and the neurotypicals in my life used to steal it and use it to mock me. I'm not talking the bully kids at school, I'm talking my family. These days it's a fricking trauma and ptsd trigger. It took me ages to figure out why I could never stick with such a useful tool for ADHD. Turns out it doesn't feel safe on a very primal level and really likes to poke at my RSD, so I avoid it. If any of you struggle with consistency trying to build this sort of skill, it might not just be ADHD. Consider getting with a therapist to dig deeper. It helped me make a little progress on my use of externalized mental organization.

justalurkr I find writing and journaling key. Throw out all distractions. Be intentional. Take time to reflect. In my experience writing by hand vs. using an app is more productive and creates just enough space to slow my mind down to focus.

Journal works for me ... I don't keep notes when i was younger because anything that i write in a paper subconsciously I don't remember because I don't need to remember because I can go through it again in my notebook and purposely I wanted to train myself to use my brain for memory and recall. But now, being so stressed, I even found out I have ADHD I needed to clear my mind and that's when I start writing things i don't wish to keep in my head.

Hi! For my AP Language class I have started a project where I journal everyday. I am new at this so I have a few questions and it would be awesome if you could answer them:)
    1. How can journaling help as a method of personal growth and self improvement?
    2. Why do you believe that journaling is a good technique to destress? What makes journaling more effective than other techniques?
    3. How long does it take for one to become an “expert” in journaling?
    4. What is the biggest positive of journaling? And Is it helpful for everyone, or only certain people?

    • @francescakyanda9182
      @francescakyanda9182 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Journaling can help you visualize your thoughts and makes you think them through and express them as clearly as possible.
      2. In terms of distressing, it's cathartic to give your thoughts room on the page. In your head they get all cramped and confusing, so allowing them to flow unadulterated gives them liberation.
      3. Like everything else, it takes time and practice. However, consistency is always helpful.
      4. Personally, I don't have a journal habit because it simply doesn't work for me. It all depends on how our minds work.
      Hope this helps! 💙

My little brother introduced me to the bullet journal method a year and a week ago today ( I remember becasue 3 days and a year ago I got accepted into college) , I couldn’t get a handle on the symbol side of things for each different type of event but I like the fact that it was completely customisable becasue i could never seem to use a normal planner that was already set out..... so my planner style morphed from bullet journal, to just planner, to digital planner ( since I am very technology based person and I make a lot of mistakes) which means I can just erase it completely and not worry about having to take a pencil case with me everywhere. I never seemed to use a normal plann also becaus eit was simply so generic, so having the freedom to completely customise my own in a method (digital) that I would use and eventually find a style that works really helped. The only downside is that I do believe digital takes a lot more time to set up however I use my semester breaks to set up the next few months all at once that way o have something to do when bod but also don’t have to rush in a panic about setting the next month up when I am chockablock busy with exams.

I found that a paper-based journal is much more powerful for me. I'm a budding computer scientist, but unless I made my own app, I would never be happy with a digital organisation system. With a bullet journal, I can customise things from day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year. My system has evolved over time and although I miss out on the benefits of a digital system (decentralised data storage, instant data retrieval, automatic reports...) there are many things I do in my journal that would be too difficult to implement on a computer.

Just something to consider : I am homeless and I try to keep a journal... I have almost died numerous times... and I lose property as a homeless person because of unreasonable people thinking the criminalization of homelessness is in the ball park of a real solution.. that aside... I always wonder these questions... what if my journal gets in the wrong hands... it could be any possibility.. not just that everyone is prone to homelessness to some degree... remember that some degree... I actually had to go to the hospital because of me freaking out about something a realization.. some say I have mental illness.. yet... aren't we all kinda mentally I'll living in a world like this to some degree?? To continue my concern: I had to go to the hospital and I learned that what I have been working on a 5 subject notebook full of journal entries was "thrown away" I don't trust this homeless shelter (wheeler mission) they to me are a corrupt megachurch more or less with the adage of just so happens to place the poor and needy they come in once in a while to live and sleep for the night... so either 1. A group of thugs have my journal because of "policy" which to me is a violation of my fourth amendment rights... ( and this is common among all homeless shelters this type of problem...) 2. Or.. a group of thugs who pass off as staff members has my journal... only God knows what they are doing.. could you imagine?? having untrustworthy criminals with your sensitive information??? And THE SAME thing is happening right now with 3 YES THREE 5 subject notebooks jam packed with journal entry... at risk of being "never again"... I saw a group of army soldiers jogging next to where I hide my journals... I started to wonder if my sister's bf (which is in the army) is tracking me... I don't talk to my family I went No Contact long ago... it's ironic because that is who I journal about mostly... my Mom and Dad the two biggest culprits of my source problems... that the world is oh so ready to dismiss and put ALL the onus on me with convenience and ease...this is unfair at worst and an easy coffee table conversation in lofty positions at best? I am appalled at the lengths people go to... let alone what is not off limits....?????? What is it tradition?? Or just the homeless epidemic... either way it's gone WAY too far.. where do we even begin?? To me one could say it is set up like that that I would not be able to make progress YET the progress capabilities are allocated to NONE OTHER than the thugs responsible making it harder on me.. thugs in all shapes and sizes... who cares what is real anymore??

i know of "bullet journals" for years now, but i always thought it was something for pinterest/etsy-addicted women who love colorful pens and stickers. i had no idea it was an actual organization thing with a clear system!
it has been many years since i started using notebooks to organize my todos and notes and thoughts. but i always feel that they stress me out. it is like they keep looking at me complaining that i dont complete enough tasks. so i complete even less. it has reached a point where i feel like making a list decreases the chances of getting things done.
reading and watching videos about the actual system makes me curious. maybe it is kind of like konmari (which i loved, then started and never completed) for my brain. which would be a good thing. i am having trouble focussing on things i really want to do and am being distracted by things others are expecting me to do. starting this method right now...

Hey, have you tried to divide your tasks, just to make it tiniest? It's easier to maintain motivation. Example: idk, ”tide your house up”. Instead: ”make the beds” ”clean your bookshelf ” ”wash your dishes”
      It works for me.
Ps. I'm not a native speaker of English, so sorry if I said something strange.

      I know right?
I've planned to freelance instead of a job because I tired of meeting deadlines everyday.
Now to be productive, I definitely need to do lists. But I'm afraid they will be staring back at me if I don't complete them daily.
I guess the aim is to not set unattainable tasks. Only limited number of tasks that can be realistically achieved.
