      Thanks Jayce! I started planning set-ups for each of the teams, but it just wasn't necessary!!

    It's always weird playing Sevens and not having to worry about getting crushed on the line of slaughter.

      That's the best bit! Then the game of chicken... who's going to take the first Blitz! 😁

    Games workshop needs a faq update stating weather a fair kick is all of no man land or just receiving teams half.

    Is 7 that much different from "Blitz Bowl" the 6es version of the game?

    • @BoneheadPodcast

      Hey Michael! It is indeed! Sevens is essentially the same as the normal game, just played with less players and a smaller pitch!
      And it's the absolute best way to play Blood Bowl!!

    The GW rules, at least they way I read it, says you have to aim at the opposite 1/3 of the pitch, and it can land anywhere except your own 1/3 of the pitch.
    No complaints so far from the other players.

    • @obelix1996

      I don't know, "A kick-off must land safely in the receiving team's half of the pitch." does sound a lot like the ball could not enter the 1/6 of the pitch between your line of scrimmage and the halfway line...
      Yes, the further elaborations of that rule do mention the line of scrimmage, but its just that, an elaboration. The core of a rule should not be broken even if an elaboration does not make sense in a new context.

    • @ohno8569
      @ohno8569 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I read those rules as... "no man's land" is fair game. It's only "offsides" if the ball lands off field, or on your side of the line of scrimmage. The rules seem to be set up, to encourage the onside kick... Because the ball never scatters backwards after the kick off in sevens.

    • @AFAndersen
      @AFAndersen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@obelix1996 But since the rule doesn't fit with the pitch (because the rule you're reading from is from the book, but the pitch is from a "newer version".), you have to use the elaboration to understand what the rule-text is attempting to convey.
      Because of that, the "place the kick" rule says "in the receiving team's half", ie the receiving team's 1/3 of the pitch.
      On the "touchbacks" rule, it says "If the ball deviates or bounces off the pitch or across the Line of Scrimmage _into_ the kicking team's half", ie the kicking team's 1/3 of the pitch.
      The 1/3 of the pitch, aka "no man's land", is not owned by the kicking team and therefor does not break this rule.
      If the rules in the book said "If the ball deviates or bounces off the pitch or across the Line of Scrimmage _out of_ the receiving team's half", then I would agree that the middle part would give a touchback.

    • @obelix1996
      @obelix1996 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AFAndersen The problem with that interpretation is that you do not count half of the no man's land as belonging to the kicking team's half, yet argue that a ball that lands in the no man's land does not break the rule of needing to land in the receiving team's half. You are not being internally consistent. You should not change the definitions of what is and is not part of one or the other team's half just because you want to recreate the old rules in the new rules.

    • @AFAndersen
      @AFAndersen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@obelix1996 I'm being very consistant.
      The "touchback" rules says it cannot cross the LoS into the kicking team's half. No man's land is not the kicking team's half.
      The "place the kick" rule says you have to aim at the receiving teams half. No man's land is not the receiving teams half.
      Not sure I understand how you think this is inconsistant.

    See I really wanna play sevens man Just me and my mate are still moaning about the board being the same price as a standard one

      Just choose your least favourite side of the board, grab some masking tape and mark out a sevens pitch!

    Is the positional limitation of 4 strictly for players on the field? It would be nice to have a halfling on the team to throw in the game.

    • @obelix1996
      @obelix1996 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it's the limit for permanently hired players on the team.

    • @BoneheadPodcast
      @BoneheadPodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Henri's beaten me to it! Yeah it's 0-4 on the roster total. There are quite a few leagues that use the alternate to this - 0-4 on the field at any time.
