Patrick I really enjoy your interview style, allowing people to speak uninterrupted. Well done! Also this gentleman was very Revel knowledgeable with a professional presentation style. As for the Revel itself, I love the concept but imo highly overpriced for a Winnie.
I was hesitant to purchase a Revel because of the price, but they are just like buying any other vehicle, you don't pay MSRP. 20-30% off MSRP is a good starting place, but supply and demand has a big influence on what you will pay when you walk into a dealer. Also because the Revel is a certified RV you can finance them over 20 years and with interest rates so low it becomes a little more feasible. A lot of thought, planning, and budgeting went into figuring out how to get one.
You should have bought a storyteller mode. The insulation in that revel is softer than seat foam and it’s gonna be worth 50k in a matter of a few years not decades. Have fun with that depreciation.
Django Trombley I’ll deal with that over being frozen or sweating, low quality parts and the same bs that everyone else has. The mode is just all around a nicer build.
The cost is unbelievable for these. The self contained set up for parking almost anywhere is really appealing. I need a full sized truck for work so I made sure to carefully choose something I can quickly transform into a camping set up. I chose a camper shell and the GMC AT4 since the short bed version is slightly larger than most short bed trucks. I'm short enough to lay out without feeling squished. I can still tow jet skis or put my mountain bikes on the hitch so that's a plus. I love this kind of stuff but its all so expensive! I've been watching your channel since you were doing mountain biking videos, then the urbex stuff and now this haha. Good stuff!
Thanks Chris, some of the upgrades from the 2020 were subtle but there really was no centralized place for 2021 revel owners to ask questions or share info. We got ours last week and I’ve been scouring so the forums are appreciated
What I really like about the Revel’s layout is that the bed sits perpendicular to the length of the van and it’s a large sized bed. I like how you can raise the bed to the top of the ceiling which opens up the garage area. They actually make an upgrade to the garage area called the G.L.S.S. which gives you 2 long bench seats that fit along both sides of the van that also houses additional storage space inside the seats. The upgrade also has a large removable table that fits in the middle of both seats which gives you a much larger lounge area perfect for dinning, working, and relaxing. What makes the G.L.S.S. Upgrade so cool is that it turns the garage area under the bed into a large living space. If I owned a ReveI would definitely look into purchasing that. The other big stand out feature is that you can run the AC off the battery bank which is great if you’re a hot sleeper like me. Overall I just love these Revel travel vans. I’m always jealous when I see someone driving one. I will own a Revel soon! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Hi Patrick, Love how you film and let them show it all and then you ask questions at the end that are of importance. Great rig but too pricey. Of course that isn't your fault. Take care and stay healthy.
Right now, I'm at a standstill between a Revel and a Storyteller. Love the Revel but wished it had the Volta system. Love the Storyteller, but unsure about the flex bathroom I want to make the cargo/bed area into a studio. I can definitely see how I can do this in the Revel....Storyteller...I'm unsure.
Wait for the 170 sprinter Revel. The current Revel is basically a 170 floor plan down sized here and there to squeeze into a 144. The bed isn't wide enough for 2, the bathroom isn't long enough, seating area doesn't work too well (look how so many add in a seating area in the back, sacrificing the garage), since they put in a wet bath in a 144 they have to make your wet bath a closet etc...The 170 version is going to be so much better, especially for a couple.
I love it! I appreciate the time that Chris put into researching his next rv purchase. The revel is pretty sweet. Basic needs but quality Winnebago/Mercedes. Thanks for sharing guys! 😎✌️🤙🤘😎
I'm glad to see they've made some subtle upgrades, like the color scheme and table. I do think since it's a lagoon table, they should provide a larger table so that when the passenger side swivels, they can share the table better. I wouldn't be able to justify spending so much unless it was for full timing. I have a Class B that cost $85K in 2015 and it gets used about twice a year.
Really nice rig with some innovative ideas but a couple of things I didn’t understand. Though the bed mechanism was cool what was the purpose of needing a key to raise/lower it? Seems kind of inconvenient to have a city water hook up in the van, why not outside or both? You’d think an RV at this price point could figure out a way to make the rear door strong enough to support climbing a ladder. The cup holder in the dash is a neat idea but I have a hard time believing he couldn’t find anything that fit in them, like a water bottle or soda can maybe?
The key of for child safety. The city water in the van allows for better 4 season capabilities. The cup holders in the dash for a lot of fringe but are not deep enough to support them while the vehicle is in motion.

I'm at a crossroads between getting a Revel or a Storyteller. I personally love the layout of the Revel more but love the Storyteller because of the volta system. I feel like I would get the storyteller before the Revel just because of that system.
Storyteller is a new brand with limited dealer service and support. Winnebago has been around for over 50 years and has hundreds of dealers and parts centers as well as nationwide support.
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures very true, but id be more worried about have electricity more than anything else. I've heard very good things about the volta system.
It seems to be well made but "Starting At: $185,838" is really pricey. I look forward to Euro models that will be manufactured here in the US by Hymer USA.
@@pamelacraig2791 When I look at all the Euro camper vans on the Dodge chassis, I'm just amazed at the low prices. Thor who started Hymer USA has already released their first two camper vans; Tellaro and Sequence, and can be purchased for 80 K. I've seen one TH-camr (a dealer?) describing it as a Winnebago killer. How much lower the Hymer USA B vans will be than the Thor Tellaro or Sequence is remained to be seen, but as they will duplicate the European automation process for Hymer division it might significantly lower the labor cost while increasing the level of quality of parts/finish. I like the Hymer Free 540 series - 540 cm or 18 foot long.

@@pamelacraig2791 I originally was hesitant about the cassette toilet but with time you learn that it is quick and easy to dump and gives you more options than a black tank when dumping. With 2 people we empty it ever 2-3 days because I don't like to let it get too full. I could probably let it go 4-5 if needed.
How do people justify the cost of these vans? The ease of use? The “go anywhere” lifestyle? The clearance sucks, you’re not going on much more than a dirt road, there is next to no interior space and you can’t setup a base camp while still being mobile, as there is no garage for anything with a motor. For the price you can buy a brand new diesel pickup, a lance truck camper and cover a pretty awesome/extensive adventure ... just doesn’t make sense to me
It’s not always about the money. Not every buyer is on a low budget. Also these have great resale values so you use it, enjoy it and sell it and get back most of your money.
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures Two things. 1. Budget has nothing to do with practicality or quality of an item. A $200k budget does not dictate the value of this setup in anyway. 2. They do not hold their resale value long term, the oldest model is a 2017 so how can you say they hold their value? If you’re willing to pay over $125k for a sprinter with an electric stove top and a drop down bed that’s great, my question was how do folks justify that? What do they do with this vehicle that separates it from anything else ... other than the look? I ask because I’ve seen a camper van here and there and there is nothing about them that looks comfortable, especially when they are parked in an rv resort ...
ProMASTER 3500 are around 100k and have more Solar Power, bathroom is designed bigger, and you don't need a bed that comes down as your storage is under the bed, and the bed itself when down and when you have a gel mattress makes a big difference. Check out the Promaster 2500 and 3500. I think there is more room.
In the comments the quality of part of this van has been questioned. The original owner always seems to suffer the most because they paid the most for a brand new product. But, I watch a lot of YT reviews and I have learned the RV industry doesn't care . This is a generalization of course. On this model if the number of cup holders was reduced, the price could be lowered. I buy the ones from Wal mart that hang from the door window. They're just a buck. Too little storage, although the bed helps with access to items under the bed. Always buy used from the original owner considering miles. Mercedes Benz does not manufacture a product that is any better than an average price RV. Look at reliability and repair data. They have good marketing . That's the difference-snob appeal. The Germans are still mad at us. They're trying to get even. Looks like they're winning. It was interesting the owner had to cover the original floor because it was already scratched. The cushion for one of the seats already looked deformed. The components (add ons like exhaust fans, toilet) are generally from the same source in most RVs. MB does not warrant these. So the Coleman AC in this unit is the identical unit in my 20,000 camper. Repairs will be ridiculously expensive. I have read that access to repair shops that will work on MB Sprinters can be problematic. Owners on YT have experienced this. All in all a good walk through. I'm sure the owner is pleased.
For those who live in or are going to be traveling to the northern states...check out this TH-cam channel of a couple who own a 2019 Revel for the last 18 months now. They live in Anchorage Alaska. Their channel is: Wings and Wheels Alaska. They’ve done a lot of REALLY GOOD MODS and their adventures around Alaska are excellent. This video is very informative and thank you for it. Blessings, Deb
I am not sure which Safari Trek you are referencing. The one I know went out of business years ago and were boxy class A bus style motor homes not capable of off road driving.
Ex 2020 Revel owner here. I owned it from May 2020 to Sep 2020. Revel is an awful RV. Winnebago quality is just unacceptable at the price point. Personally, having owned this RV, it's not worth it at any price point. I'll give you some examples. Bathroom door didn't close completely and left a crack, allowing you to be seen while on the toilet. Vinyl panel in the bed area wall was not cut properly and had a small flap sticking out (as if a 3rd grader cut it) due to poor workmanship/quality control. Everytime I laid down in the bed, that was a reminder that this RV was not put together well. Hinge for flip up cabinets started losing their hold so the doors started sagging by 3rd month of ownership. Cabinet knobs wiggle....just feels cheap. Swing out windows sometimes stay up and some times don't. I have no idea why. I've not taken my Revel off roading yet by 2nd month, there were so much squeaking. Toilet paper gets wet after using a shower despite closing the toilet paper lid. Winnebago repair process is a joke (can you imagine that within 4 months I need to repair something?). Revel just has a very claustrophobic lay out. I didn't like it. I strongly advise people against purchasing a Revel/any Winnebago product. Workmanship and quality control is really bad. When you spend this amount of money on something, you don't want to feel the way I did. With current price of Revel, I'd opt for Overland Mode any day. It has much higher amp hour of lithium battery and much higher inverter than current 2021 Revel. Additionally, the build quality from what I've heard from people who have owned or driven both Overland Mode and Revel is that build quality is not even comparable.
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventuresthese are not simple fixes. Poor build quality of the entire Van isn’t something you can easily remedy. My advice to the viewers is to stay away from Winnebago unless you are prepared to have your Revel in the shop for prolonged periods of time.
Many cassette toilets get good reviews. Weight when full can be an issue. I think the tank hoses for dumping are disgusting. The cassette toilets make emptying a little more tolerable.
007nadineL because they’re cheap. The materials used and quality of craftsmanship is waaaay below average. The holes they cut out for the flares are very sloppy and they do t cover exposed metal with paint when they’re done. They barely vacuum out the scrap material. I feel sorry for anyone in a revel. You got butt fucked. I met the kid with the very first new body style revel in America. He paid over 180k for the thing. It’s worth half that now and it’s only two years old. You could buy a brand new sprinter and do a build of higher quality for half the price in your driveway and not deal with depreciation. If you do a good job, it will gain value. These will only ever lose value.
@@matthewjswider Fiberglass insulation is not dense. In fact if you compress insulation it becomes denser but loses r value. Properly installed fiberglass has loft and is soft. The problem with insulation in this rv is that there is not enough space in the walls for a thicker layer of insulation. If fiberglass or an equivalent were used in unit it wouldn't be any better. It's would be too thin.
William Branham you’re right. But a marshmallow is much more dense than fiberglass. The fact is this insulation isn’t going to have any moisture wicking ability, barely any heat barrier ability, and would be incredibly costly to replace. Properly installed actual insulation would have a plethora of properties superior to this material, and probably wouldn’t cost Winnebago more to install. It’s just lazy, and disrespectful to customers to install something so cheap yet charge so much. I’m happy for it because it drives more people to the custom build market.
Best rv tour ever!! I've watched over a hundred tours & the majority of people waste time with useless talk. I'm so glad it was just the facts.

Money money money money moneeey😎😎😎
Thanks for checking this out.
Damn almost $200k 😯

how many times can someone say "here"?
I don’t know David, are you bing nice and mindful today?
He never mentioned it’s four wheel drive!
The 2021 Revel comes in 2 wheel or 4 wheel
All Revels are 4x4

For those who live in or are going to be traveling to the northern states...check out this TH-cam channel of a couple who own a 2019 Revel for the last 18 months now. They live in Anchorage Alaska. Their channel is: Wings and Wheels Alaska. They’ve done a lot of REALLY GOOD MODS and their adventures around Alaska are excellent.
This video is very informative and thank you for it. Blessings, Deb
Both of those vans are smoking ASS hot
Thank you Frank
your van is cool for its functionality and style. planning on getting one when the demand is not high anymore coz it's overpriced at this time☺️
Safari Trek bed copycat. Nice.
I am not sure which Safari Trek you are referencing. The one I know went out of business years ago and were boxy class A bus style motor homes not capable of off road driving.
Dude is a software engineer?
Has a forum
I'll wait a year or 2. Will be cheaper.

Thank you for checking this one out. All sound like simple fixes too bad you have e it up so soon. I am sure you sold it and didn’t lose any money
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventuresthese are not simple fixes. Poor build quality of the entire Van isn’t something you can easily remedy. My advice to the viewers is to stay away from Winnebago unless you are prepared to have your Revel in the shop for prolonged periods of time.
Cassette toilet sounds disgusting??
How is that?
Many cassette toilets get good reviews. Weight when full can be an issue. I think the tank hoses for dumping are disgusting. The cassette toilets make emptying a little more tolerable.

Take down literally any one of the panels against the wall. The insulation in there is softer than seat foam.
This is a waste of anyone’s money.
What does softness have to do with R value. Marshmallows have a high R value as does down and fiberglass. All are soft.
William Branham you can breathe through this stuff with a soft blow. It’s not helping anything. The items you mentioned have density. This has none.
