I like how you compared and contrasted ecclesiastes and proverbs. Does proverbs have a take on "nothing new under the sun"? Because Jesus new kingdom will be new right? And it's not like Jesus will have to due again for our sins at some point of sin somehow enters the world again...

This video popped up on my feed and the Ecclesiastes 9:5 on the title strongly caught my eye. It felt weird, but I did not stop to wonder more of it. Later I picked up my Jehovah's witness study book to see where did we left off last time with my Jehova's witness friend. I opened the book, and the next thing we are going to study is what happens after death AND there it was again: Ecclesiastes 9:5 was quoted on the study book. Thank you Holy Spirit! Thank you for putting this video in my feed, so I can help my friend find the path to Jesus Christ and leave the Jehova's witness cult. AMEN.

@@GeneralBW The idea that we are a living soul rather than possessing a living soul can be supported by various biblical passages. One key verse is Genesis 2:7, which states, "Then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature." In many translations, "living creature" can also be rendered as "living soul." This suggests that the act of God breathing life into humanity results in our essence being that of a living soul.
Another important passage is found in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, which talks about the whole person: "Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." Here, it emphasizes the integrated nature of spirit, soul, and body, indicating that we are not just a soul contained within a physical body, but rather a holistic being.
Additionally, in Matthew 10:28, Jesus says, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell." This further supports the idea that the soul is intrinsic to who we are, not merely an entity we possess.
In essence, the biblical perspective can be interpreted to mean that our identity is fundamentally tied to being a living soul, shaped by God's breath and infused with life.

They even force one of the brother to have sex with his own younger sister inside the Church with gunpoint. My english is limited so i can't express whats in my mind. But, despite all those hardship i never give up to worship God and prays to Him. Today, we're still under Indian govt but somehow not facing serious hardship. Sir, please pray for me and for my people. We're still under the rules of other faith and we're minority and we cant voice out even our own right. Ecclesiastes is a window into the realm of the spiritual dimension. Seeking anything of the world, wealth, women, or pleasures, outside of God, you get nothing, but misery. The Spirit is telling us what Christ explicitly stated, seek first the Kingdom and righteousness of God, and all these things will be added to you. God observes your priorities! Like in math, you must do the multiplication before you do the addition, or get the wrong answer!

What is the condition of the dead ? Consider Ecclesiastes 9 that says: "For the living know (or is aware that death follows us wherever we go, like a stalker) that they will die (or become non-existent, as they were before they were conceived in the womb, see Gen 3:19 regarding Adam), but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten......"
"Go, eat your food with rejoicing, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart (while alive)......Whatever your hands finds to do (that is clean in God's sight), do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave (Hebrew sheol, or after death), where you are going".(Ecc 9:5, 7, 10)
And at Psalms 146, it states that of humans, "his spirit (or life force, Hebrew ruach, Greek pneuma, that is also translated as wind, see John 3:8, which means an invisible force that produces visible results, which can be likened to electricity that runs an appliance) goes out (or ceases to function, like turning electrical current off to an appliance),"
"he returns to the ground (just as Adam was told upon death, that "dust you are and to dust you will return", Gen 3:19); on that very day his thoughts perish (Ps 146:4; in which all activity of the brain ceases, so that the once living person now is a dead person or "dead soul", for the word "soul" is the Hebrew word nephesh, that literally means "breather, a breathing creature", so that anything that breathes oxygen IS a soul)".(Ps 146:4)
Thus, the dead are dead, ceasing to exist, in which there is NO "soul" that leaves the body to live on afterward. Greek philosopher Plato (428 ?- 347 ? B.C.E.) taught the Greek pagan belief of the immortality of the soul. However, the Bible gives the ACCURATE explanation concerning the soul through the Hebrew word for soul as nephesh (and the Greek word pysche) that literally means "breather, a breathing creature" of oxygen.
So, anything that breathes IS a soul, and NOT possessing one, as stated at Genesis 2:7, according to the King James Bible: " And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man BECAME (and NOT put within) a living soul", so that before God "breathed into his (Adam's) nostrils the breath of life", he was a DEAD soul, or non-breather.
The King James Bible reads of Numbers 31:28: "And levy a tribute (or tax) unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves (or of the herd), and of the asses (or of donkeys), and of the sheep (or flock)". At Psalms 115:17, it says: "The dead do not praise Jah; Nor do any who go down into the silence of death."("silence of death", Hebrew duwmah, H1745, meaning "silence, death"; also found at Ps 94:17)
Thence, anything that breathes IS a soul and eats, in which at Deuteronomy 12, it says that when the Israelites reached the land of Canaan, "and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh (or meat); thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lustesth after".(Deut 12:20, King James Bible)
And at Jeremiah 2, in which the apostate city of Jerusalem (that stood for the entire nation of Israel) is likened to a wicked woman, saying: "Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents".(Jer 2:34, King James Bible) And at James 5:20, it reads of the importance to "save a soul from death".(King James Bible)
At Isaiah 53:12, of Jesus, it says according to the King James Bible: "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto DEATH: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."
At Acts 3:23, Peter told the Jews, according to the King James Bible: "And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet (Jesus Christ), shall be destroyed from among the people."
So, the soul breathes, eats, has blood and dies, can be destroyed, in which the word soul means us as a person, with all our desires, so that even if we die, becoming a dead soul, our future life as a "living soul" can be recreated by our Maker, Jehovah God.(Ex 6:3, KJV; see Matt 19:28)
Hence, there is NO immortality of the soul for humans. So, the soul can die, be destroyed, having no hope of a resurrection, as seen at Matthew 10:28 and Acts 3:23 in the King James Bible. And the spirit or life force ceases at death, but Jehovah will replenish a person's "spirit" or life force ("restarting their engine") in those whom he resurrects to live on the paradise earth as "meek" ones (see Ps 37:11, 29; Luke 23:43), so that they now become a "living soul" or a breather again.

Thank you. And yes, very FEW recognize the truth (see Matt 7:13, 14, in which "few" will receive life everlasting) that the dead are dead, having lost their "spirit" or life force, as Ecclesiastes 12:7 says: "Then the dust (or a person who is made of "dust" or elements of the earth) returns to the earth, just as it was,"
"and the spirit (or life force that keeps a human alive) returns to the true God who gave it." At Psalms 115:17, it says: "The dead do not praise Jah (shortened form of Jehovah, see Ex 6:3, KJV); Nor do any who go down into the silence of death."
At Psalms 146:3, 4, it says: "Do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. His spirit (or life force, like unplugging an appliance, so that it "dies" or ceases to function) goes out, he returns to the ground (or becomes "dust" again, see Gen 3:19, whereby Adam was told: "For dust you are and to dust you will return"); On that very day his thoughts perish."
And that is why the Bible speaks of, not "the rapture" (which word is not in the Bible), but of the resurrection, that is the Greek word anastasis, and means "to stand up again in life", whereby Jehovah "recreates" a person that has died and they are alive once again, for Jesus said:
"Truly I say to you, in the re-creation (Greek paliggenesia, meaning "rebirth, renewal, re-creation"), when the Son of man sits down on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will sit on 12 thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel."(Matt 19:28)
At 1 Corinthians 15, the apostle Paul shows that death is "the last enemy" to be conquered, saying: "Next, the end, when he (Jesus Christ) hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father (Jehovah), when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power."
"For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet.(see ps 110:1, 2) And the last enemy, (Adamic) death (see Rom 5:12), is to be brought to nothing (at the end of Jesus Millennial reign, Rev 20:4-6)."(1 Cor 15:24-26)

In Ecclesiastes it is perfectly clear that it is referring to the dead knowing nothing about what is going on among the living. One of the reasons it is pointless praying for the dead or praying to the dead. They, according to the Lord Jesus are aware of the torment they are enduring themselves when they die without Christ. It is bliss for the soul of the believer when they die, they are with the Lord.

The spirit lives and the new Testament explains for the world who don't understand. If the skeptical want a modern proof I will give to them the day when my father died I got a spirit of poem to write verses about death. ..I didn't know that my father was dead. So in 2000 the night of his death I saw a dream, my dead grandmother and my dead uncle came to my home in the night and there was only a light and I came late and my grandmother dressed in black suits together with my dead uncle we're so happy smiling to be there ...when I asked them what happened hier..my Grandmother said nothing but go to console your mother because she is pregnant and so I did in my dream. The next day my sister called me that we have to go home because our father is sick and I knew from the dream that he was dead so I kept my brother and my sister with hope that my father will be fine to not be destroyed and cry before the time of truth. So that night when we came home it was so late my father was in grave because they called us the day of his funeral and we were with auto far far away...that night I dreamed my dead father as He was dressed and the colour of his costume and the ties ect all in details .....My father spoke to me and I want to hug him ..but he said to me to not touch him because he is still not left up...when I asked him Where are you going pa? He said to me: You know where I am going up ..and in that moment I saw The blue sky with a Giant Port and shining light...so I saw him going into that door. But before that I saw him having in the hand a bag with sorrows...so my friends I told you this to not doubt in the Bible and what Jesus said. Thank you Sam for teaching people because the ruler of the world keeps them in darkness. God bless you

Near death experiences are not: right after death experiences. They are part of the life side. And it’s a part of life to turn our deepest wishes into beliefs. But there is a silver lining around the harsh reality. As humans we are only capable to experience life since there’s no awareness about death whatsoever; no, not even for a short time to observe who will grieve over you. So in a way we all live eternally. The concept of death belongs to our relatives.

I appreciate you Sam and am thoroughly blessed from listening to your videos.
I have a sincere question about life after death. I came out of JW’s and went in to study Martin Zenders teachings for a number of years and, although I am now a Christian, I still don’t believe in a literal hell for unbelievers.
I believe that evil spirits pose as ghosts to mislead humanity in thinking there is life after death. Also false visions of hell are given to people who give these false testimonies..
The OT never talks about a conscious torment but speaks of death as being asleep (book of kings speaks of evil kings resting with their ancestors- not being in torment).
The Apostle Paul never once told the churches to warn unbelievers about hell.. He spoke of life and reconciliation with the Father lfor those who would believe.
Also Jesus brought his friend Lazarus back from the dead (if Lazarus was enjoying heaven then why did Jesus bring him back to this fallen world?).
I do believe that the dead are all ‘waiting’ for the resurrection and that at the judgement unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire - which God made sure was also called the second death (maybe like the first where there is no conciousness of anything at all)?
I would appreciate comments about this please as I really hate the doctrine of the soul being eternal (which is why I think hell was invented).
Thank you all for reading and for any respectful comments. Much appreciated.

I have asked that same question for years, the fact that jesus resurrected people is a problem for thinking people go to their eternal reward after death. Your example of Lazarus is spot on. The bible clearly teaches that once a person is in heaven or hell, there is no returning from that. How can a man make it to heaven, have eternal life, and then get pulled back to this world with his salvation back at stake??? Also, there are about 12 resurrections & none of them speak anything of what they saw heard or experienced. I could say more, but I just wanted to let you know I've wondered the same thing.

The human soul can still exist, even though some descriptions of the dead suggest that the dead know nothing. Just because this describes the condition of the dead doesn't mean the soul cannot exist, which is often misrepresented by heretic like Jehovah's Witnesses.
Sam interprets Ecclesiastes as more of a secular book, arguing that the author describes the condition of the dead from a secular perspective. However, many descriptions in the Old Testament regarding the state of the dead are similar.
Sam cites Ecclesiastes 12:7, which says, "the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." This language is tied to creation but reversed-God created human beings, and they became living souls. However, Sam argues that God did not place a soul from heaven into them; what God gave was the "breath of life," which returns to God. He also suggests that "spirit" does not always refer to an immaterial soul. Another reason this passage is not describing heaven is that the author reflects on a secular view of death, pondering heaven, yet concludes with the idea of vanity.

The reason it returns to God is because God gave it in this verse. Do you think human soul coming down from heaven is biblical? This describe Platonism or the pre-existence of the soul, which the church declared heresy.
God gave humans the breath of life, not a soul from heaven. This verse has nothing to do with the soul going to heaven, and it has nothing to do with Ecclesiastes 12:7.

Is the purpose of humans according to Ecclesiastes to enjoy their work independent of receiving credit or treasure for their work?
The Nihilistic perception of the meaningless of human existence is what may drive humans towards hedonistic pursuits for which there will be no personal salvation.
Likewise, when all humans are seeking out their own personal desires humanity as a whole becomes self destructive and evil similar to the antediluvian word that Noah escaped from.

When you die, you die for good, and Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 do comes true as God himself told Adam and Eve since Genesis. It was the serpent who teaches that you really dont die but continuous alive in other realm. Dont teach serpent lies, let the Holy Spirit teach HIS disciples. You believe you understand the Scriptures only because you have memorize It? Be humble and realize you dont have the correct answers all the time!

Maybe you read my comment earlier where I mentioned that verse but I realised my mistake on my own and deleted it again. But I was literally thinking about this topic and even asked God to share some more light on those things I do not understand yet. So surprising to have this exact topic on my my time line now.

"And behold two men were talking with him. And they were Moses and Elias,
Appearing in majesty. And they spoke of his decease that he should accomplish in Jerusalem." (Luke 9:30-31)
"For he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live to him." (Luke 20:38)
"And it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. And the rich man also died: and he was buried in hell.
And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom:
And he cried and said: Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water to cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.
And Abraham said to him: Son, remember that thou didst receive good things in thy lifetime, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted and thou art tormented.
And besides all this, between us and you, there is fixed a great chaos: so that they who would pass from hence to you cannot, nor from thence come hither.
And he said: Then, father, I beseech thee that thou wouldst send him to my father's house, for I have five brethren..." (Luke 16:22-27)
"And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.
And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee: This day thou shalt be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:42-43)

So you think sleeping means there still alive? Mark 5:39Jesus/Yahshua says, "Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping".
Other Bible verses that refer to the dead as "asleep" or "sleeping" include:
    Matthew 9:24
    John 11:11-14
    Acts 7:20
    1 Corinthians 15:51, 52
    2 Peter 3:4

There is a resurrection because people are dead. If they weren’t dead there would be no need for a resurrection. Period. That is wisdom. The Bible is correct the dead no nothing.

WRONG. What faith tradition taught you this? Jesus teaches that we never die and have eternal life. The resurrection of the body is another separate event where our living soul is reunited with its physical glorified body that comes at a later time.

Brother Sam, my question is this: are you refuting the scripture according to Ecclesiastes 9: 5,6 that when a person is dead they know nothing? My reason for asking is because you have not shown where Solomon would have contradicted scripture. There are numerous texts in the Bible that support the point Solomon has made concerning "the dead knows nothing." Although Solomon is addressing questions about life and sharing his personal experience in the book-he is also under Divine inspiration making it clear to his readers that when a person dies there is no more consciousness about the activities of life. Scripture when read comprehensively expresses this truth. It was the devil Satan who told Eve the lie that if she eats the fruit she would not die. This very lie of the devil is the foundation of modern spiritualism which teaches man's consciousness in death. No wonder many sincere Christians also believe this lie of the devil because they are following tradition, and doubt the testimony of God's word about death in Genesis. Brother Sam, you have not addressed the question therefore as to what the Bible rightly teaches about death, as a result there are nuances in your explanation that seem to imply that there is life beyond the grave after a person dies.

Ecclesiastes 3:19 for there is an OUTCOME for humans and an OUTCOME for animals; they all have the SAME OUTCOME. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit. So man has no superiority over animals,
At DEATH, humans and animals are the same. They cease to exist. And finally turn back into the elements of the earth.
Verse 20 All are going to the SAME PLACE. They all come from the dust, and THEY ALL ARE RETURNING TO THE DUST.
Adam was told by God that at death all humans will cease to exist (Genesis 3:19).
The teaching that humans continue to live on at death in some heaven or undergo some torture gives Satan's lie a boost. It was Satan who contradicted God and said humans will never die (Genesis 3:4).
Living on at death makes the resurrection hope a false promise (Acts 24:15).
Only persons who do not exist can be brought back into existence.

The dead no nothing is referring to the human body which decays after death. The immortal soul is alive either in heaven or hell.
Animals do not have immortal souls. So, when they die, they cease to exist, unlike humans.

JW's only read Eccl. 9:5 and stop. But if you have them continue to read 6 and 7 they find it saying that the remembrance of them has been forgotten and they will no more have a portion under heaven forever.
That is not what Jehovah's Witnesses teach. They say the dead ARE remembered (in the resurrection) and will have their "portion" on earth during the millennial reign. So if the first part of Eccl. 9:5 is true, then 6 and 7 must be true as well.
But they do not teach as true the other part of that well quoted scripture.

Yes, the soul is immortal. Immortality is not life. It is existence. Existence can be life or undeath. Are angels alive? Do they have souls, bodies, breath, or blood? Will angels have life apart from Christ in hell or will they be undead?

@@sal.i.7445 True. The righteous in Christ will receive eternal life. The wicked receive eternal damnation, torment, and undeath. Only God is immortal from the beginning to the end. Angels and men were created. They began unlike God who has no beginning. Christ has no beginning. He existed as the Word from the beginning. I agree with all Scripture. All life derives from God. Christ rules hell. The souls in hell are ruled by Jesus. God is everywhere. Damned souls have no life but are undead meaning they have no blood. The life is in the blood. Their bodies are not alive in Christ by His blood.
