    In this TH-cam video, I will shares my experiences and lessons learned when dealing with land purchases in Nigeria. I will discuss my efforts to take physical possession of the land I am acquired and how I engaged with local community leaders and family representatives to resolve potential issues.
    I emphasizes the importance of taking proactive steps, such as fencing the land and working collaboratively with local communities to avoid future conflicts. I also advises viewers not to solely focus on government titles like Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and to prioritize physical possession when buying land in Nigeria. This video provides insights into the complexities of land acquisition in Nigeria and offers valuable lessons for those considering real estate investments in the country.
    PRICE OF LAND IN GREEN PARADISE TILL JUNE 31ST.
    300 square meters = $3,000
    600 square meters = $5,000

    My late father purchased land in Always Ibom 6 years ago. I recently got a call from a supposed co-owner of the land asking for more money, who claimed that the purchase was not final.😂 As an attorney in the US, I am used to documenting all transactions so the fact that my father made this purchase without any paperwork is disappointing, but understandable. I can only imagine the wahala I will have to deal with when I go home this Christmas 😒 And the said they have already planted plantain on the land🤣😂😭

    The fighting looked looked rather jolly. I hope all these community 'leaders' and 'chiefs' actually commune and discuss these things with the communities they are supposed to represent, and some of that payment makes it's way to benefit the communities rather than lining chief pockets.

      I completely understand. If you're not willing to go through all of this. It's best to just invest and buy from someone who has done the work to secure the land. It costs a lot more but it saves you stress

    Did you actually buy the land from the family or local chiefs in the first place (including anybody who is actually in this video) or from someone else? If you would have waited until the harvest season was complete do you think you would have had these same problems? Do you have family in that area or is it your ancestral hometown? Are most of your workers from that local area? Have they given you a list of demands telling you what you must do for the community or are they happy to simply just accept payments in the form of cash? What would you do differently if you had the chance to conduct this process again?

    • @thenigeriannomad
      @thenigeriannomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lots of questions. I would answer the ones that are important and related to this video /
      #1.) simple answer is we buy directly from family but engage the chiefs and baales throughout the process.
      #2.) From experience, yes! waiting till harvest season hasn't made a difference . they intercrop other things before the other is ready to harvest. smart farmers. we are actually waiting. we didnt clear their farms. we just cleared a path through it. we are giving them 3 months notice. Thsi was a good way to know who owns what.
      #3.) No demands on what to do for the community. but monetary things . we want to do stuff for the community though. but this is not a requirement.
      #4.) I wont do anything differently. except do what i am doing a lot sooner.
