I have the Rush IS and absolutely love it. Wore it recently in an absolute down pour of rain on a ski trip in France. I was one of a few at the hotel who came back bone dry. I use it with a Patagonia R1 air when it’s cold or the Patagonia nano when it’s really really cold with a super thin Rapha base layer. Absolutely the best combo. I never over heat and I’m never cold just perfect. It’s taken years to find this exact combination.
I considered both jackets but went with the Sabre LT (on sale). For days when it gets warm on the mountain I like having the option of layering down. In the Spring ski season especially, it's nice to still have the softshell protection without overheating. I carry a USWE mountain bike pack when I ski, so if I need to add or take away something (liners, mask, etc) it's not a big deal to downgrade or upgrade and keep moving. I feel like having built-in insulation is more limiting, but that's just my preference. Thanks for sharing.
Great video; clearly explained and touched on important points. Looking forward to more in the future. Can you consider doing a comparison video for some of the Arc shells (Beta AR/LT vs Alpha AR/FL, etc). Thanks!
Great review, I bought the Rush IS on sale. Yet to wear it on the slopes. It would be good to have examples of layer systems say at -0c and -10c. I know it's different for folk but some steer. So would a T and light weight mid work at 0c for example.. Is the down mid redundant.
Thanks for the encouragement and, for the suggestion. I do plan on having a few vids on layering systems soon. Let me know what you think of the jacket once you try it out
@@BackcountryRenegade the Rush IS is on a blowout sale here out East - I'm 5'9" #190 - I own an Alpha AR in large that I layer for resort skiing (base layer, thin almost Cross Country wind layer, then light mid-layer - then Alpha AR) but I'm thinking the Rush IS now that I know it exists, may be a great addition. I do remember trying on a Saber AR and finding it fit larger than the Alpha AR. Thoughts? And thanks again.
@@wallstreetoneil yeah if you can get a good deal on that hop on it. It’s a great jacket. It is a bit big so you can layer and longer arms, similar to the saber, but not as long in the back. With your starts maybe start with a med.

Thanks! Yes I’ll see if I can get my hands on those
Fantastic review, really good comparison.
Thank you but could you please post your height weight and the size the jackets so we can see how they fit?
Im 5'7, 140 lbs, and both these jackets are a size small
@@BackcountryRenegade Thank you!
