  • Meet Rick, an advanced Keratoconus patient who recently traveled to Texas from North Carolina, USA. Rick was diagnosed with Keratoconus 19 years ago. He happily relates his life-changing fitting outcome, describing how his Laserfit sclerals compare to other lenses worn previously. Thank you, Rick, for so candidly sharing your experience. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you!

I too am 45 and was diagnosed with kt about 20 some odd years ago. I've been using scleral lenses for the past 10 years and good lord have they made a difference in my life. My left eye was brought to 20/20 and my right to 20/40. Super crisp, sharp, comfortable excellent vision for a constant 12-14 hrs straight. I am a professional driver and definitly would not be doing what I love if not for sclerals.
They do come with a caviat though; you have to find an optomologist that specializes and doesn't "give up" on you until the detailed fitting is precise. Also, proper insertion/removal is paramount to success with them. It takes a while to get it just right. And finally extreme cleanliness and hygene when handling, cleaning and storing them is crucial. Hope this helps folks...they are heaven sent.

Hey all, were not alone with this condition. It does help to speak to others who also suffer with Keratoconus and get help/undestanding how it affects everone so differently.
There are forums and also FaceBook groups you can join and get so much help and answers from people in the same situation. Were all here for eachother!
    Keep well 👍

I was diagnosed in 2011, and was told it is advanced keratoconus. My Opthamologist recommended the corneal transplant after the irritating try of soft and hard contacts lenses😓 my right eye was performed on, my vision was almost 20/20 BUT once the stitches came off 1 year later my vision changed, not as bad as the beginning but I had the option now to wear glasses. The process has put me off the do my left eye but today it has come to that point because my eye test for driving has put me under the accepted line😔 Optometrist says my prescription for my eye has changed🤦🏻‍♂️ its pretty stressful. All the best to everyone.

Diagnosed with Keratoconus in 1992. Now almost 2021, I've been wearing RGP lenses, now the synergize rgp with soft skirt, and cannot remember a time I've seen clearly. Every-single-day has been a constant irritation/struggle with this. Baseball after H.S. was squashed, job opportunities lost, and have never seen My daughter's face with normal vision. I will be checking into this treatment. Hopefully, it can be afforded. Almost 30yrs of this painful annoyance. Congratulations to all that escape this! Salute

I was diagnosed with Keratoconus in 1995 when I was 17. I’ve been thru two corneal surgeries, wore RGP lenses for a majority of the time and most recently the synergize hybrid lens. One suggestion I have is to replace your lenses once a year. I didn’t do that due to the cost. Now I’m suffering with corneal abrasions. It’s the worst! Light is painful and my eyes burn and are red. I’m a teacher so I’m virtually looking at a screen for 8 hours. I’m now waiting on a new set of lenses. Until then I’ll just bare my day then remove the lenses right at 4 pm. It stagnates your life; I get it. There’s always the possibility that you’ll have to have continuous transplants due to the scratching of the cornea. Do replace your lenses once a year. I couldn’t do it at $750 a pop but now I wish I did.

My name is Michael im 19years old from Nigeria and I have been diagnosed with keratokonous on both eyes, i have used glasses for a few years now and i just got back from my doctor this morning and the news I got was heartbreaking cause my left eye is extremely damaged reading -23 and my right eye reads -15, i now see multiple artifacts like double visioned and ghosting, this has affected me in all areas of my life especially in school and in my sport life I dont know what to do I can't recognise my own mother from 5feet away and I just got released from my club cause I couldn't see vary well on the pitch, all I can see with my left eye are double images and can't also recognise anyone for 4-5feet away, this gave me hope that I can get a better vision and be able to share my testimony Goodluck to everyone diagnosed with keratokonous God help us all I truly wish I could meet and talk to someone who has this same struggle I would be extremely happy and hopeful
