Lasik not only improved my vision, it improved my quality of life. Up until my surgery, I dealt with almost daily headaches behind my eyes. My mom was so freaked out by it she had an MRI done on me to make sure there wasn’t something wrong with my brain. After Lasik, NO MORE HEADACHES. My guess is my eyes were under constant strain since my vision sucked so bad, and then factor in the discomfort of contacts too. A month after the surgery, my mom actually cried when I told her I hadn’t had a single headache since.

2000 years ago, the God that loves you pu His Son on a Cross to save you from HELL. you see, something named sin is the need for a place called HELL. sin is anything wrong that we do against a Holy God. Everything wrong like lying, (have you ever lied before), stealing, blaspheming God name (aka OMG, saying It without regard of God's Holiness. Have you ever cheated on something before? Hatred, Malice, Envy. Have you ever hated someone before? Have you ever hated someone before? Have you ever envied someone before? This is death. Sin. Going before the throne of a Holy God on Judgement Day ay the end of our lives, we will be judged for all the sin we have committed. If there is any sin the person will be sent to HELL. now this is The Good News: Jesus Christ died in your place, in the place of sinners. Now if you will believe on Him, and turn from your sin, you will be saved. Repent quickly. Do not decieve yourself that He is not coming back.

The only thing you should worry about is the pain after

    • @gorechotuma
      @gorechotuma ปีที่แล้ว +11

Okay, I was thinking the same (got the surgery yesterday) because I have adhd and extreme anxiety. Had the worst stomach ache the morning of. But it wasn’t so bad! You really can’t feel anything, I felt something maybe like cold/cool on my eyelids after the drops, but I assume it was psychosomatic. Asked specifically if I can hold my hands together on top of my stomach and they said yes, as long as they are not higher then my stomach. It really helped, I just clenched my hands together. Today is the second day, my eyes are slightly dry, but no pain anymore, just really annoyed that I can’t touch them)

    • @aaronth07

Get LASIK. Anyways, they gave me Valium but they did the surgery before it even kicked in, you just have to sit very still, but it’s doable with the numbing drops they provide. The worse part is the intense pressure when they cut the flap (in her case not an issue).

This was a good video. It didn't gloss over things like, you don't get clear 20/20 vision right after the surgery and post-surgery discomfort and pain. When I got it done, they put my eye ball into the suction cup thing to hold my eye in place in order to cut the top layer and laser the eye, so it wouldn't move during the procedure. The whites of my eyes got bloody internally as it was difficult to get the eyes held into the machine. That also was a source of pain post-operation. There's a high level of light sensitivity after the surgery. You need someone to walk you around from the facility to the car after the surgery as you will want to close your eyes from the sunlight.

Excellent video on PRK. You described the process very well.
PRK was approved in 1995 and I had both my eyes done with PRK at 30 and then 90 days after FDA approval (at that time they would only do one at a time.) My surgeon was involved in the pre-approval testing of the procedure. The only variance from your experience was that on my first eye, the surgical bandage contact popped out of my eye at 10pm that evening. At 11pm, the surgeon game me the option of going in and he would come in with the necessary surgical staff to take care of it. I decided to tough-it-out until 7am the next morning by taking a couple big doses (at his direction) of Codeine, and keeping my eyes shut until a new bandage contact was applied. I should have probably gone in at 11pm... it was the most painful evening of my entire life.
BUT at about 3 weeks my eyes suddenly stabilized and I tested at 20/25. The best, even with corrective lenses, that I managed to get BEFORE PRK was 20/50. Without corrective lenses I was 20/200.
The most striking memory I have of the whole ordeal was walking around my house and seeing crisp edges on EVERYTHING. I had never in my life seen such detail.
Fast forward to today (5/28/2022), I still test at 20/25 or 20/30. I don't wear any corrective lenses... this vision is perfect to me.
The only variance that I had from your procedure was that I had frequent issues with nystagmus (rapid twitching of the eyeball when attempting to focus on an object), so the surgeon had to literally clamp each eye and as an aid, left my other eye uncovered to help me focus on an object to prevent movement. The downside to this is I got to watch the smoke rise from my other eyeball as the laser did its thing!
    Again, great video!!

@@lavstarz Prior to surgery I was very nearsighted. I could see crystal clear everything up to about an inch or closer to my eye. After the surgery, that focal point immediately moved to about a foot from my face. Anything closer took effort.... but suddenly everything far away was MUCH clearer.
I'm thinking that I may need a 'touch up' because my ability to read further away is getting just a tiny bit worse. Not bothersome, but I have noticed.
Also... one of the side effects of PRK way back then was somewhat of a starburst effect with lights in the dark. That has improved for me over time... but I am curious to find out if currently technology has improved to the point of eliminating that.

I had been looking forward to getting some form of laser eye surgery for just about my whole life. I started wearing glasses when I was around 8. In my mid 20s my glasses prescription finally stopped changing so I went to get assessed for laser and was told that my corneas are too thin so I’m ineligible for any type of laser eye surgery (not enough material to shave away/reshape). Devastated. Destined to be around a -6.5 script and spend way too much money on new glasses and contact lenses forever 😭

I started around that age to wear glasses and now im in my early 30s and my vission is somewhat stable enough for me to get an eye surgery but the problem is that my cornea is not only thin it is also uneven to the point that if my eyes get dry enough ... well lets just say the pain directly wake me up and blur my vision for almost the whole and make it insanly light sensible ( it feel like something is getting pulled out from my eye constantly ). I see my doctor once a year for check up and the scars that it had created as not worsen and gave me directive to follow to make sure they dont get dry. Once most of the scars are healed i will be able to do the first surgery to correct my cornea ( since trying to do it rn is too dangerous ) and after that i will be able to get the surgery for my vision.

If you are a canidate, its totally worth it.
It just feels like you have an eye lash stuck in your eye for 3-4 days after the sugery, but the pain killers remedy that.
Just do your research and be sure to find an opthalmologist who has plenty of experience.

    • @McGeistly
      @McGeistly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +53

It is worth it, and the sooner you can get it done the more of a return you get.
I went through it this year and I was nervous as hell. They provide you Valium, they directly numb your eye. The machines can pick up on eye movements and will stop instantly if there is a change, and then continue again once it finds the correct alignment again. Your eyelids are held back with specialized surgical tape as shown in the video, and your eye is held in place by something (I couldn't see what it was, but it sets on your eye and applies a little bit of pressure) so your eye movement is mitigated. The flap procedure takes a minute or so, and then you are rotated to the main laser. This takes another minute and then your flap is replaced and you can close your eye. Each eye takes under five minutes for the whole process.
I recommend having a family member or friend you can trust help with drops and food/water on the first day, but after that just don't rub your eyes or get them wet.
The way they make the flap is pretty incredible. Once they replace the flap it is basically sealed as if the cut was never made. The cornea still needs to heal though, so you don't want to rub your eye or get water in it. The drops and vitamins, if they give you vitamins, help a lot too.

I got this done a week ago, been reading about different experiences and honestly I'm surprised by how a lot of people describe severe pain/discomfort/sight fluctuation. My eyes felt a bit dry and light-sensitive for the first few hours, but then it was like nothing even happened, and my vision was 100% immediately. So I guess for anyone considering this, take into consideration that the recovery is very different for each person.

@@_BMJ_ I had a surgery kind of like lasik but different so I assume the pain would about the same. I have a cornea disease called kerotoconus which causes the cornea to thin and become disformed so I had to have a surgery called crosslinking where they burn a whole into the cornea with alcohol and fill it in with a vitamin solution and cook it with a UV light for 30 minutes. As far as for the pain it really depends on the person. For my first eye the pain was fine and was only bad for a few hours but for my second one it lasted a few days. Ask your doctor for Valium and you can take half a one for anxiety if you have any before but I just saved it for aftrr the surgery to help me sleep and take a large dose of melatonin so you can sleep through the worst part after the surgery.

My grandmother had this done when lasik was still kinda a new thing back in the 90's, and it's not exactly refined to be 100% safe. Unfortunately the surgeon had made some mistake that cost her to lose most of her vision, and it took most of her life away. She couldn't drive, she couldn't navigate around stuff, and she had blind spots. She was the sweetest soul because despite a mistake being made that cost her her vision and life, she understood it was a mistake and refused to sue the doctor who made her blind. Later on she regret that because she realized just how important it was, and how difficult it made life, she worked as an ECU for burn victims, and was a nurse, and losing her vision cost her her career too. From then on her life was difficult and she needed a pair of eyes to help her. She fell multiple times not being able to see obstacles, or uneven ground, and she whimpered and shook in fear when she had to do something risky, and would hold onto us really tight. Sadly she came to find a way to live with it and not much is known about the surgeon. Whether he was fired, quit, or anything. But she did realize the mistake on her part for not suing for money. That surgeon makes a lot of money, and when you destroy someones life that trusted you and your training, it's not as big as having someone else pay you large sums of money to compensate what might be lost in the future.
Lasik can be risky, so please keep that in mind. And if they do make a mistake that leads to your vision being permanently lost and unrepeatable, do not hesitate to sue them. You will regret it if you don't....

I am 74 years old and had lasik surgery a year ago. Would I do it again? Absolutely. My procedure was absolutely painless. I never would have thought that eye surgery would be painless, but it was! There was some discomfort around the small surgical area around the eye but unless I bumped the area with my hand I felt no discomfort. There was some "matting" in the eye in the morning after I woke up but that cleared up after 3 days. I continued using the prescribed drops for 10 days to prevent any infection from setting in. Other than that.....no hassles. I lost my near vision but was told about this before surgery so I already had purchased reading glasses. After postponing surgery for 2 years and losing the ability to drive at night this surgery gave my world back to me. Finally to those of you who need this surgery and are frightened about someone poking in your eyes do not fret as this procedure is 99% painless.

    - not suitable for all outfits (rarely seen anyone wearing a ball gown with glasses smh)
    - u gotta change it every few years cuz u get blinder every time
    - gotta wear it to the bathroom (bcus im that blind)
    - you cant lie down on lateral side while wearing glasses
    - you *will* be called a nerd

    - u have to bring your glasses even in swimming pool

You should be looked after for the first hours after every surgery, since you will get some kind of anesthetic in most cases...my kid went to get sthg to eat with me after one and she said she had a ball bc I was still out of it af! ^^
