    My art supply: A stack of 500 pages print paper and my pencils I used to use at school.

      I like to cardstock a little better myself. It's a little smoother for some reason.

    • @brechtgeers

      Believable, have had some of those in the past, should get me some again. No biggie.

      Print paper is very smooth though indeed. I actually notice I use different kind of harchness in pencil depending on the paper, but I've used print paper for so long now I really want something sturdier now so. Tommorow I will get some xD

    This was ridiculously inspirational. I have a migraine and I dragged my sorry butt to this bright, agonizingly bright, screen so that I could tell you how much I love it. I adore that you read fairy tales out loud during some of your real time drawings (as someone who likes reading out loud, myself). I've watched this more than once, and I'm slowly on my way towards watching/listening to all of your videos at least once during my private doodle time. Thanks a bunch.
    P.s. I'm force feeding all of your videos to my friends and you have the most soothing voice in the universe, thank you.

    I think this also applies to digital art, a lot of people assume that the computer does all the work for you and they find it really hard to understand that I'm literally drawing just not on paper... so I show them my graphics tablet and let them have a play, I'm good at sharing.

    A ten-pack of Bic pens from the Dollar Store is the only way to go. At least one will be a bleeder to fill in areas that you want darkened, and two or three will only give enough ink for shading. Once they've been marked for their purposes they beat an expensive art pen any day.

    The best way to answer, "what do you use?" I've ever seen, bravo. I know artists like N8 Van Dyke and myself hate the question what do you use, because it is the artist behind the tool not the tool itself.

    Honestly, I love this video also the Expensive art tut. I love the way you use satire to make the best arguments! I will certainly get a pen today so thank you for the wonderful review! ;D Also do you sell your work in a set of playing cards or postcards because I was inspired by another youtuber to get a deck of "art cards" and frame them all together.

  • @constantly-confused5736
    @constantly-confused5736 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm gonna build one of those! Looks really great!
    Also: Of course I understand the message behind this video - there's is no such thing as the "best pen"... But different pens will have different feels to it and thus will effect your art... A pen fresh from the store will work differently than one almost empty... but the empty one might be great for shading... "better" than the new one even...
    I want to try how these stick pens work... also i like the idea of creating my own supplies! :)

    There's nothing wrong with having the best quality. There is something wrong with making excuses when you don't. Some things feel better than others. I have giant hands. Not all instruments are created equal.

  • @Drumaier
    @Drumaier 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    They should use this video as first thing in any art school. The most important tool for an artist or designer to be worried about the quality of is his head (to simplify it a litte). If in your head you have all the necessary concepts and experiences related to shape, proportions, perspective, anatomy, how light works (and how colors), flow, contrast, etc etc you can make amazingly appealing stuff with "whateva". And this video illustrate it perfectly. I myself felt many times in the trap of actually buying good quality supplies thinking that they would impact the quality of my art but not even in a 1%. The thing is that is A LOT easier to buy a quality product than developing all the skills necessary to make great art/designs. You need to draw, paint and experiment for hundreds and thousands of hours. Instant gratification never works. A marathon mentality plus discipline plus intelligent practice does work every single time. Is just that the results will take some time to show up. Was this the largest Comment ever??? 😂
