@@deathninja16 I always keep it holstered as a habit from playing TES IV: Oblivion so much; talking to NPCs with a weapon out would lower one's disposition with them, so I learned real fast to put my weapons away in order to pass dialogue checks lol

Frankly... That's probably the first time Max would have seen something like that.... I'd have been pissing myself.
And if armor-clad Titus couldn't deal with it, wtf was Max supposed to do? Shoot and piss it off and die from a single swipe when it came after him?
The fact that he got a nice critical on a headshot is just a high Luck roll.

@@nguyenmanhcuong5710 I think he was flabbergasted by Titus being a regular asshole instead of being actual knight. Like, he totally could kill that Yao Guay with his bare hands being in power armor, but he just pussed out, not to mention it was totally his own fault getting in that situation. Its not Max who was like "I'm bored I wanna shoot instead of getting the objective". So its not like Max was scared of shooting at the bear (although looking at the game he had about zero chance of killing it with a 10 mil) he was shocked that this guy is a Knight and should he really help that mf.
The Goul definitely has the Bloody Mess perk.

The turrets missed so bad bc its the Fallout 4 settlement mk1 turrets. Infamous for being completely useless. You need mk2 or better if you want to actually hit the target. The mk5 turrets are nightmares. The ones found in some sketchy indoor areas. Those shred.
The Mk 5 turrets are dangerous, because they fire incendiary rounds. The Mk 7 turrets are probably the ones you're referring to, as they fire explosive rounds. The scariest turrets are the laser 'bubble' turrets, as they ignore energy resistance, and will tear through anything.

In case you're wondering, The Ghoul's 'handcannon' is likely a modified MTs255 shotgun revolver firing solid slugs.
The 2 headed Cows are named Brahmin. They are in every Game.
14:12 That’s a Yao Guai, that thing is even more hardy than a normal bear, a normal pistol shot wouldn’t down it. Shooting it would attract its wrath and Maximus wouldn’t have the protection Titus had.

It’s astonishing that they filmed the desert harbor with destroyed ships at a real location.
Many of the locations are practical and you can tell. It adds so much to the authenticity of the show.

I love the fact that I binged this, and can now rewatch it with you guys. It's actually even better, because of your reactions.
Vault 17 was attacked by the Master's Army and the inhabitants were turned into nightkin, who are addicted to stealth boys and hate being seen by others. If you were Lily then you would get to be a companion in Fallout: New Vegas.
The line where she saying stuff about saving America it was a speech check and she failed it earlier. You see Maximus do the same thing when being interrogated but he succeeded that’s why his voice sounded a bit off. I think it’s pretty nice that we’re able to see that mechanic of the game make a appearance in the show in someway.
Its amazing how every chracter has some of the fallout game perks like The Ghoul : Bloody mess perk (bonus damage and shots make things explode) and lucy : Magnetic Personality Just makes you have more campanions and maximus : The Idiot Savant (Low intell) perk offers significant XP increases, increasing the XP gained from any action by 3x or 5x depending on the perk rank.

Don't think Ghoul has Bloody Mess, it makes the entire body explode into chunks no matter where they got hit. Hit em in the leg with a hammer? Every body part explodes!

...aswell as maxed out perception.
thats the one perk I used in every one of the first 2 games - fallout 2 had a kamasutra master perk - not sure if tha works with chickens though 🤣

I think it is cool that Mrs. Movies is honest enough to say I would just want to be a vault dweller. Everyone is like yeah adventures in the wasteland but if all this were real living in a vault would be pretty damn good option.

I totally agree that Prime should have released episodes weekly instead of dropping them all at once. The show has had a lot of great buzz, but it would have been even more if we'd had to wait a week between episodes. Either way, the show's a massive hit and a second season is confirmed, but I think it could have been even bigger if they'd released episodes weekly.

The thing with Knight Titus is that first, instead of doing his mission, he got bored and wanted to go shot something, then when there was a sign of possible danger, he sent his squire to see if there was danger, then when faced with the bear, he ran, then he blamed it all on his squire. So yeah, he really didn't deserve the armour.
He has the armor presumably because he earned it with past deeds. Besides that, consider this. He is an important asset for the Brotherhood. His training, experience, and the armor make him that. Maximus is an unproven asset. So it sounds right to me when he says "you earn this armor through acts of bravery". I mean, how else do you earn it? Then, the bear attacks Titus from behind and knocks the gun from his hands. He then trades blows with the bear... he doesn't immediately run. It becomes clear to me that he can't beat the bear by standing and trading blows while Maximus does NOTHING. Literally nothing, the entire time. So he runs and tries to get some distance between them. Meanwhile Maximus could shoot the bear and still does not. Titus has to beg him a few times to shoot the bear before he finally does.
One good shot to the head is all it took... he could have done that a lot sooner. So Titus was right about him. He was dumb to say it the way he did because, when faced with that Truth, Maximus will take the easy way out and let Titus die... because he (Maximus) is a terrible person. Worse than Titus, at least from what I can tell. If that was Lucy, by contrast, she'd give him the stimpak no matter what he says to her. Also, later on when Maximus gets a squire, that squire doesn't question him. He freely offers to take the lead when the Gulper is approaching. And he shoots without hesitation when it looks as though Maximus is in trouble. That's a man you want in your corner. You don't want Maximus. Not yet, at least. We'll see if he ever truly redeems himself.
@@interstellardave Titus says you get armour by acts of bravery - perhaps that is even the official rule of things and maybe the way it once was, but we have already seen a significant difference between what is said and what is done. Remember how Maximus was told that violence to a brother was a sign of weakness? In fact that was in response to simple wanting something to happen without doing anything to cause it to happen ... it was strongly implied that even the thought was a very bad thing. So where were the people in charge as Maximus got beaten, something we saw once but it was indicated happened all the time? We actually saw instructors or whatever you want to call them walking by and pointedly "not seeing" what was happening. So there is what is claimed and what is done.
Titus had already indicated by his reaction that he suspected there was something very dangerous in the cave, and so he sent his squire in to find out - had the bear been in the back, Maximus would have been instantly dead while Titus was well back and safe - that was not an "act of bravery" - Titus was using Maximas as bait to draw out the unknown creature while he stayed safely at the mouth of the cave ready to kill whatever came out from a distance. Chances of his squire living in that scenario are very low. The whole situation would never have happened if Titus had obeyed his orders - it happened because Titus wanted a chance to shoot at something because he was bored.
To suggest that the unarmoured squire who has a small handgun is supposed to do the fighting to keep the knight safe is absurd. Sure, given what happened, Maximus should have tried, that was certainly his duty, but that should never be the plan. To suggest that in any way this was Maximus' fault is false. The fault began with Titus' disobedience to his superiors followed by his frivelent use of the armour he had. Absolutely nothing in his behaviour lives up to the expectations of a knight.
Now, realistically I would say that actual medieval knights were also hyped as being honourable and brave and all of that and history records that most of them were little more than rich thugs who were skilled fighters [at least compared to the average] so in that sense, Titus managed to live down to the medieval standard the brotherhood was attempting to mimic.
Maximus did fail, first time in battle he froze and didn't act in a timely manner. No question there. But freezing is actually a common reaction in a situation like that when you have never faced such a thing and frankly, from what we saw, were never really trained to face it. On the other hand, Titus made choices to do the things he did - it wasn't a matter of something like freezing, which is a natural reaction you have to overcome, He chose everything he did, he just didn't guess the situation very well. His actions started with impetulence and lack of discipline, disregarding the mission, along with arrogance that because he had the armour, he didn't have to worry about things, and it moved to cowadise when he chose to stand in the mouth of the cave and use his squire as bait for no reason more than wanting to shoot at something.
His squire had already found evidence of the target they were supposed to be hunting, but Titus wanted some fun and was willing to risk his squire, not to complete the mission, which could have been argued was right if needed, but no, he risked his squire so that he could have some fun. I'm not saying Maximus deserved the armour - but Titus proved in every way that HE did not deserve it.
It’s fair enough to take the view that Titus is as bad as you surmise, and was unfit to wield the kind of power he had. I can accept that point of view, though different from mine in degree, and still maintain the view that Maximus is a terrible person, and perhaps less fit to wield such power, at least for now.
That kind of matters to me because Titus is a side character while Maximus is a character we’re supposed to root for. I just can’t at this point, although it’s not lost on me that he is a victim of being directionless. Pushed along by circumstances he’s in, and that doesn’t always understand.
Because of this he is a tragic figure but this is still partly his fault. He has to find direction from within and make choices accordingly. Then his circumstances can change. At the end of season 1 he’s still being swept along, and it seems he has some unearned fame that he clearly isn't too comfortable with, though it's what he thought he wanted. I am curious how he will react to that!
@@interstellardave I think we are both similar but different in specifics - just as you say that you can see my view of Titus but I am more extreme than you on that point, I agree with you view of Maximus but feel you are harder on him than I. Of course, everyone's view of such things is affected by their own background and it is not surprising that if my view of Titus is harsher than yours then my view of Maximus would be less harsh than yours - it suggests that my life experiences lean more to the Maximus side of the spectrum, as it were, and thus farther from the Titus side - but neither of us is actually at home with either.
I think Maximus saw the brotherhood through the eyes of an idealist and he believed in all the hype whereas Titus likely never believed in the hype, but liked the idea of power. To Titus, it was all about having the armour and the Brotherhood was just the price you had to put up with - or at least the guys at the top. I suspect he was just fine with the other knights. Maximus joined up because he idealised the Knights, or rather an image of the knights - a serious case of hero worship, and as they say, it is best to never meet your heroes up close.
I felt Maximus started out questionable, but he has been growing. I'm hopeful for him in season 2 but I do understand your view of him ... I'm just a bit more forgiving of him within the world he lives in. After all, it's a world that is not exactly filled with glowing examples of how we should be.
The Ghol's pistol was probablya gyroc gun, developed in the 1960. For a lot of reasons it did'nt work out (although I suspect that with modern technology they could be overcome).
Anyway, they fired many self propelled rockets - you can see the tailfins in the slow motion footage), and, I beleieve, small warheads.
On another channel, one of the reactors theorized that "Filly" was a derivation of landfill, where all the cool pre war stuff got buried. The tomatoes make sense as tomato and watermelon seeds are all but indestructible and will grow if offered soil, water and sunlight.
Not even soil as we usually mean it. Our neighbourhood had a tomato plant grow literally from a crack in the road.
24:50 I like lever-actions too, but I wish the armorer on set had actually shown Walton Goggins where the cartridge goes in the gun, instead he just fiddles with it a bit waiting for "CUT!". (and I know, it could be a resin replica with a non-functional loading gate) 😁

I don't think having a pet is against the rules. He was using CX 404 as a power generator with the treadmill. So having a dog looks to be jist fine if it serves a purpose.
dog meat is a unique dog, he is a dog that keeps coming back to help valt dwellers, or anyone he feels is worthy of his help, he has no master, and seemingly reincarnates at several different tiems to help. there is somethign strange about dogmeat, as he never mutates. if i was to guess id say hes one of the fallout gods or an aspect of that, as there are different gods in fallout, mostly evil, but the fact the same dog looks wise always turs up to help decades apart, makes me think its supernatural in some way

I think it took Max so long to shoot the Yao Guai just because he had never been face to face with a real mutated animal before. He had to get over the initial shock first.

It's just a stylised action shot. It's not V.A.T.S.. It stand for Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. You have to have a pip-boy to have access to VATS.

Now I'm going to want another FALLOUT game.
I binge everything. Movies, series, songs, and people. I consume till i am sick of it then if i can stand it i might revisit it later. This is why my relationships are like those trick candles. They burn and then go out and then burn again. I just dont like to wait. Sometimes i wait till the season is over just so i can watch it all at once.
i'm re-watching it with you two, there is so much to absorb
titus moaning at maximus after the bear attack was so bad. it would've been LESS subtle to have the screen suddenly go black and say "you're meant to hate this guy and be happy that he died" because there's NO WAY that ANYONE is gonna be that hateful towards someone that just saved them from getting eaten alive by a mutated bear, no matter how much of an asshole they are.
Any show that comes out weekly, I wait until it's over and binge watch it. So I prefer the whole season drops

I think the turret completely missing the doctor, even at close range, is a reference to Fallout 4/76. Those turrets are notoriously inaccurate when you build them for base defense.
Being in the UK I watched this on a watch along live stream on twitch. The whole season in 1 go on release lol. Was slightly drunk when it finished at 10 am on a Sunday morning :) What can I say, I love most of the games.
Titus was going to let Maximus venture in and fight that monster by himself with no armor it's only fair he lets him get smacked around
