Love that grease pencil! what brand, and where can I find it? The pencils offered by my distributor are awful.
    Thanks for the excellent videos.

Thanks Bryon. These are old telescore pencils from Brunswick, we have a whole bunch in stock. They are great however they do break easily. I like using a manual sharpener to keep the tip from breaking. Here's the link to get the pencils. shop.buffabowling.com/en/pro-shop/bru-860002-002-brunswick-yellow-grease-pencil-telescore

VLS as we know is developed and popularized by Storm so I assumed that it is tailored for their products. Is it effective to be use on other brands of bowling ball whether it is symmetrical or asymmetrical?

Hi Joe. VLS and Dual Angle will give you the same result, just the process is different. Once you finish a VLS layout, you can remeasure in Dual Angle and vice-versa. It comes down to a preference to the ball driller, however both methods should be practiced and known by all drilling professionals.

I have symmetrical ball from storm and brunswick, and asymmetrical ball from radical. The driller told me when asked what system he used to drill my bowling balls, i was told he used VLS for storm balls and Dual angle layout for brunswick and radical. In my observation, i think VLS is more effective in terms of overall performance when used in storm ball given both balls uses same surface.

What about 3 x 5 x 4? Since 4 is longer than 3 obv, there is no outside line to intersect with bevause the 3 inch arc is inside the 4 inch arc. This system only works if the first number is larger than the last.

For VLS to work, you need the Pin to PAP and PSA to PAP lines to intersect, other than that it won't work, you are correct.

Yes, but every video I watch doesn’t show how to actually place the hole positions. Where do I find those videos?

The PAP is based off the grip CENTER. So when you're done this layout process, you have the grip center. The Midline is the line that cuts thru the middle of your palm horizontally and the center line is thru the center of the thumb and intersecting the fingers. If your full span is 4 inches, you start from the middle and draw a cut line 2 inches on each side.
      I hope this makes sense.

So this is a 4x4x2 layout with a 5 inch pin since pap is 5x1? Im sorry, im still in the early learning stage of understanding layouts.

No. The pin is at 4 inches from the PAP. The PAP is measured from the grip center. Check that video out as well. You need to find your PAP before doing any layout work.

He starts out by marking the symmetrical ball 6 3/4 down for a theoretical mass bias......why? Why 6 3/4? Ok.

Hi Steve. This is done on a symmetrical ball to get a spot on the equator of the ball. 6 3/4 is a quarter of the ball on the surface.
