Hi Grace! I made the New Look swimsuit this year too. I also had fit issues with the top. I had to recut the top after adding 2 inches along the front neckline plus extra lining for cups. I don't think I'll make it again. I like your vogue version...I should try that next time.. have a great week ahead.

The fabrics are perfect for your swimsuits! I really like the burgundy one, especially. The pink floral is super-nice too. I love how the cover ups just tuck into each side. What an easy closure. It's too bad that the New Look suit didn't work as well a the others, but you have two gorgeous suits and three gorgeous cover ups! Thanks for sharing all the incredibly useful information! I love the first suit with the gold sparkle pattern. Also the black and coral high neck one. The coverups are great too. I have made a bathing suit once., years ago and now I’m inspired again. I need a high front and back, as I do a lot of diving and jumping with my Grandsons, can’t have a slip! Yikes. I love the swimsuits & the cover-ups! The fabric choices are great. The Vogue 9192 is a really nice style-so classy😊. I made the NL pattern. My swimsuit didn't fit properly either. I thought it was something I did. Now I'm going to pull it out & see what happened. You're so right about the cover-up. It can be worn with other garments. Even though the NL doesn't fit, all 3 of your suits are nice. Great sewing week!

It seemed simple enough to put together but I don't think it accommodates too many figures. That coverup pattern is a MUST HAVE. McCall's are on sale for $2.99 now thru the 8th at Joann's. I ordered a Mistry box’s and got about 3 yards at that same fabric, but in a light bluish gray with the same silver dots planning to make bath suits with it also but the rest of my box was not that great..love your makes ❤

Love the maroon suit on you Grace It’s a very slimming design, perfect fit and looks just great Shame about suit two because yes that fabric is stunning The coverups do compliment each suit nicely to Good on you for giving that ago I did once many years ago and it was a disaster. I haven’t tried it again. Once I feel more confident with my stretch fabric sewing, I might give it another go but in the meantime yours looks absolutely fab

Thanks Deb. I guess I wasn't motivated to make a swimsuit until I moved from cold PA to the hot sunshine state of FL only a few years ago! Now I can't stop!!! LOL.🤣 The next time I go to the Sewing Studio, I want to check if they have any swimsuit fabric. That would be awesome. Those coverups are a breeze! Great for lounging around the house with my pups and coffee. Pick up the pattern for the coverup alone. It's well worth it. Hope you are doing well and keeping cool. 🧊

Your swimsuits are beautiful Grace and I like the coverups very much! I would have liked to see how the coverup actually opened up or do you put it on over your head?
I was amazed that 2 of the swimsuits fit you so well. I was sure you would drown in the fabric. I usually wear an 18 or 20 in the big 4 patterns quite comfortably, and I'm much bigger than you are. In fact, I'm wearing a size 18 shift dress at the moment from one of the Big 4 companies and it's even a bit loose under the arms. But you look gorgeous in the 2 of them. Its such a shame that the tropical one didn't fit. The fabric is so beautiful. I think I like the third cover up the best, just the drape of it. They all look lovely, but I think the third one hung the best on you. I also liked the third bathing suit the best, I think. It didn't seem overly revealing on you. I don't think I'd want to swim the butterfly in it, but for lounging around the pool, I think it will be great.
Thank you Linda! It's great to try a mock of the swimsuit for sizing if possible. The sizes are so inconsistent especially with knits. With wovens, I'm consistently a size 16 in Big 4. I never sew indie patterns. That coverup pattern is a must have. It's so easy and quick to sew up. I have 3 and I'm going to make a 4th! 🤣 The 3rd swimsuit is definitely great for lounging around the pool or floating. Have a great weekend! 💝
I think you could save that suit by putting some stretch elastic under that bust area and also on the side hip of the cut out. Both are on the same side so the elastic could balance out the look
Aww thanks. I just watch what and how much I eat. I try to only eat 2 meals a day. I only drink water or seltzer water NOT diet. Lots of fruit. Only eat out twice a month. Cut back if I feel like I'm gaining weight. Lots of veggies and protein.
Excellent makes. Too bad about the flowery didn’t work but the last one is awesome! Plus, the coverups are lovely especially the first one. It’s amazing how well you can see up do many items in such a short time and well done. 😮
Thank you Jeannie! The cover ups can sew up in a couple of hours. The swimsuits only took a day each. All in all, they are very quick makes. If you include the pink mock swimsuit, I actually made 4 swimsuits! Try it. It's fun and easy! Have a great weekend! 🥰

Also, Swimsuit elastic is required. That's hard to find. I found some at Joann's. I'm glad I inspire you and I'm thrilled you tune in and comment. I love to sew and I started this channel to get others to get out of their comfort zone and sew. It's sad to see less and less people sewing. I hope that turns around. I did once many years ago and it was a disaster. I haven’t tried it again.
Once I feel more confident with my stretch fabric sewing, I might give it another go but in the meantime yours looks absolutely fab
Thank you! Go for it! These swimsuits actually sew up quick. I just got back from Joann's because I bought 2 more yards of the tropical floral swimsuit fabric. I want to use it for another swimsuit since it's NOT sheer and it's gorgeous. The McCall's is so fast to sew up! It takes less than a yard of fabric. I'm still deciding which pattern though. I'm surprised that you haven't ventured in to making swimsuits before now with that lovely pool you have there. You sewed up some really nice bathing outfits. Thanks Deb. I guess I wasn't motivated to make a swimsuit until I moved from cold PA to the hot sunshine state of FL only a few years ago! Now I can't stop!!! LOL.🤣 The next time I go to the Sewing Studio, I want to check if they have any swimsuit fabric. That would be awesome. Those coverups are a breeze! Great for lounging around the house with my pups and coffee. Pick up the pattern for the coverup alone. It's well worth it. Hope you are doing well and keeping cool. 🧊
I think the Sewing Studio has a nice assortment of swimwear fabric -- it's in the front of the store near where the cash registers are.

I love your pool!! I am kind of jealous 😂. Love the cover up! The swim suit is so cute! The Coffee this morning looked so yummy. I do hope the ring doesn't tarnished with the chlorinated pool. The new look one are also stunning! Just sad it did not work. The last swim suit is totally Italian high street.

I was amazed that 2 of the swimsuits fit you so well. I was sure you would drown in the fabric. I usually wear an 18 or 20 in the big 4 patterns quite comfortably, and I'm much bigger than you are. In fact, I'm wearing a size 18 shift dress at the moment from one of the Big 4 companies and it's even a bit loose under the arms. But you look gorgeous in the 2 of them. Its such a shame that the tropical one didn't fit. The fabric is so beautiful. I think I like the third cover up the best, just the drape of it. They all look lovely, but I think the third one hung the best on you. I also liked the third bathing suit the best, I think. It didn't seem overly revealing on you. I don't think I'd want to swim the butterfly in it, but for lounging around the pool, I think it will be great.
Thank you Linda! It's great to try a mock of the swimsuit for sizing if possible. The sizes are so inconsistent especially with knits. With wovens, I'm consistently a size 16 in Big 4. I never sew indie patterns. That coverup pattern is a must have. It's so easy and quick to sew up. I have 3 and I'm going to make a 4th! 🤣 The 3rd swimsuit is definitely great for lounging around the pool or floating. Have a great weekend! 💝

Great idea!! I did purchase more of that tropical print fabric. I plan to make another swimsuit. I'm still deciding on a pattern.
I think you could save that suit by putting some stretch elastic under that bust area and also on the side hip of the cut out. Both are on the same side so the elastic could balance out the look

Aww thanks. I just watch what and how much I eat. I try to only eat 2 meals a day. I only drink water or seltzer water NOT diet. Lots of fruit. Only eat out twice a month. Cut back if I feel like I'm gaining weight. Lots of veggies and protein.
Excellent makes. Too bad about the flowery didn’t work but the last one is awesome! Plus, the coverups are lovely especially the first one. It’s amazing how well you can see up do many items in such a short time and well done. 😮
Thank you Jeannie! The cover ups can sew up in a couple of hours. The swimsuits only took a day each. All in all, they are very quick makes. If you include the pink mock swimsuit, I actually made 4 swimsuits! Try it. It's fun and easy! Have a great weekend! 🥰

A serger is not required. You can use your sewing machine with a Stretch needle and a zig zag stitch or a knit stretch stitch.
Since I discovered your TH-cam channel a few months ago, it gave me the push to take on sewing again 😍. I love your style, your makes, your energy and your very well made videos. You cover the reasons why you chose the patterns and what worked. I would benefit from more technical aspects of the garment making . For example the type of swimsuit fabric and the types of elastics to use.
I made a lot of garments thanks to your inspiration. Tanks,pants, hats and I am finishing a sport shirt for my husband.

@@louisemasse8090 Yes, I agree with you. I should get into more technical parts of sewing. I try to. Basically, there are thin and thicker swimsuit fabrics. I look for non-sheer. Also, Swimsuit elastic is required. That's hard to find. I found some at Joann's. I'm glad I inspire you and I'm thrilled you tune in and comment. I love to sew and I started this channel to get others to get out of their comfort zone and sew. It's sad to see less and less people sewing. I hope that turns around. I want to contribute to that. 💝💝🥰
