A charity shop close to me has started selling all their non boxset dvds for 10p! It's been a great way to pick up some titles on a whim or just to give them a try without having to invest much cash. If I like them enough I can always pick up a blu ray at a later date. The selection is small but I reckon I've picked up around 6/7 over a few weeks. I picked up Trainspotting 2 the other day.

Some really bargains out there if you take a few mins out to look further than the streaming menu screens
I need to stop being so precious about the formats, I’ve turned my nose up at DVD too many times in the past, think I’ve missed out on some real bargains and treasures because of it. Depending on the title I think the DVD at a fraction of the price is a good starting point just to see if you like a particular title before you drop a lot more money on the ‘better’ Blu Ray or 4k copy.

    1. I pirate the movies
    2. I put the movies onto a disk
    3. I print out the covers so it looks real
    4. I put it on the shelf.
    5. I keep a backup copy on several HDDs
    6. Boom! Physical and digital media for almost no cost.

Your monthly outgoings on streaming services are obviously for the benefit of your wife and children. I would hazard a guess that your family have little to no interest in your physical media collecting habits. You are in a minority like all of us who collect.

Yeah the kids absolutely make use of Disney and Netflix. Amazon prime we have mainly as benefit along with the feee shipping. Apple TV is the main one I’m using at the moment for the tv stuff and a couple of movies (personally I think they have the best quality content, just not quite as much)

£40 on streaming services per month is mental imo. No way ☝️. Surely you would be better off buying cheap digital titles as you don't want to fill your shelves with more physical media do you 🤷

@@MattVs_Movies to be honest Matt, each of the services kinda has a reason to exist for me. The kids whoop the sh!t out of Disney and Netflix. Amazon comes along with their delivery thing which we do like having as we use them a lot. Apple TV is the one platform that personally I’d choose to have.
I absolutely do want to fill my shelves with physical media… just for the right movies. Need to keep in mind when picking things up… I don’t always need to keep them in my collection. Moving forward with the collecting it will be considered what I keep but I won’t stop picking up !

We were once paying upwards of £100 a month for Sky not so long ago, which was plastered in adverts, I don’t think £40 is a big deal in comparison.
Not to mention, you can drop in and out as you please, rotate the services to keep the costs down even more.

@@servare2599 we were the same with sky tv for a while. Cancelled that because of the price. The streaming services get hammered by the kids to be fair. Even if personally I don’t watch much… the kids smash those viewing figures !
