    Why did you wet the hair? You should apply it on dry hair

    vivids should be applied to prelightened, clean, DRY hair for the best result!

    I plan on dying my hair with the Pravana Vivids Violet & Wild Orchid, how would I go about doing this? I plan on doing it myself also. My ends are already bleached and I have 3c and 4a curl patterns. Thank you for your time.

      +Kiana Love Hello,are you looking to colour your whole head or just the ends? I would say go to a professional if you are going to pre-lighten the whole head,it is very hard to get the desired colour evenly distributed by yourself,safety first!
      (So much depends on what has been on your hair up to now,relaxers,henna,tints and colours)
      Seeing as you have pre-lightened ends then you could always apply the Pravana Vivids on there and see if you really like the colour as it has no peroxide and rinses away over time with no damage?

    If this is temporary dye, how long does it last for? and how many washes would you say it takes to fade out? I'm going for a purple color like this but want the color to last as long as possible as if it were permanent.. I dyed my hair red in the past using L'oreal box dye.

      Here I am reapplying Pravana,the hair looks dark on camera but it is pre-lightened hair with the Pravana faded after a few weeks,for a vivid purple you will need to apply to prelightened hair,this should also give you an idea of the colour fade after a few weeks. No reds or purples can continue to be vibrant without maintenance i.e. cool water,sulphate free shampoo,conditioner with pigments added and a full refresh monthly.

    will these colors work on dark hair? I really don't want to pre- lighten my hair. help!

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mizell13 They may give a slight tone in daylight but it really does depend on how dark your hair is-you need to do a test strand but I am afraid it won't be as vibrant.

    Would it look horrible if I put this mixture on top of my faded red hair?

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, really depends on how faded it is-is it pre lightened?

    • @SwimmingInTheSeas
      @SwimmingInTheSeas 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had light brown hair and put manic panic vampire red mixed with a little purple haze and I got a deep rich red. It's just now starting to fade and it's more of just a normal red now

    • @SwimmingInTheSeas
      @SwimmingInTheSeas 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the normal red is very dull

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have posted a video using Hot Purple on a natural blonde which is a deep colour,as with all temporary colours they will fade,you can lessen the fading rinsing in cool water but they will fade.

    was she lightened prior to this from something darker? every proven training I've been to they say it wont stick to the cuticle unless its pre lightened...and its never stayed on browns for me...looks good right away but then washes out? may i ask what was on her hair prior ? thanks!

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +completeconfusionn Hi,yes her hair is prelightened,it has Aubergine by Crazy Color on also,which has faded quite a bit.

    How long did this color last ? Have you ever tried manic panic in comparison? Ive read Pravana lasts longer

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there,I found the colour lasts really well,personally I find a more even coverage on damp hair and the lasting power is better than Manic Panic although I haven't used their purple shades only their reds-still a good coverage and lasting power though! Thanks for your kind comments x

    Hi! The colour your model has at the end is exactly what I'm trying to achieve (dark & not neon). I have naturally black hair, never dyed before. Would I need to bleach the area I want purple before applying the Pravana to get that kind of colour? Worried if it's bleached too much the colour will be too bright..

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Abby,you could start by using this semi permanent colour on your hair as it is. The look will be dark and not too obvious,it might only show in daylight...if you feel it does not show enough you could just have a slice near the front lightened and then apply the semi permanent all over so you have an accent,if you like more colour then you could have highlights along the top (if your hair is long) and then apply the semi permanent all the way through.I would suggest you have it done by a professional,the lightening atleast. You need to take care not to apply the semi permanent on your scalp as it will stain.

    I was told to never wet the hair before adding color? Am I wrong

      Some brands like lunar hair tides actually recommend damp hair.

    what is in the spray bottle and it's purpose? was the hair pre lightend?

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Amada Randisi hi,yes it was only water in the bottle as the hair had been shampooed earlier in the day and left to air dry. The hair was prelightened and we were refreshing the purple colour to bring it back to a more vivid colour.

    what were you putting on her forehead? I assume something so the color doesn't stain the skin?

    How would you remove a color like this safely? I have magenta&violet in my hair right now but it's fading and I have regrowth, I just want to go back to brown my natural color for awhile. Would it cover if I just put a box dye of dark brown right over? Thank you! 😊

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Crystal Valdez NO!! Please don't do this,it will be a flat black mess.. I assume you have brown hair naturally and you have lightened your hair before applying the magenta? You need to pre-pigment the hair,add some red and gold before colouring brown,I would only really recommend going to a professional for the colour correction. You could have a consultation to see how much it would cost but see it as a one off seeing as you will not get roots again if it is coloured to the correct match of your natural base. The biggest mistake made is when people recolour back to brown,dislike it and then try and bleach it again...the hair is still extremely damaged underneath and will not take another bleaching to remove the new brown pigments.

    you do realize that if you shampoo after you rinse it will come off your scalp you just have to scrub.

    You should NOT wet the hair

    • @Scarlett777Red
      @Scarlett777Red  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Xactly ! Are you saying it is a bad result?

    • @kylix532
      @kylix532 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scarlett777Red No, I am saying the result would have turned out BETTER if you didn’t wet the hair. I am also not quite sure what look you where going for: if you wanted the hair to be that exact purple colour you should have pre-lightened the hair, that is however not a problem if the result is what you where going for. I still think it is smart to take notice to what I mentioned earlier. I did like your colouring technique though.

      @@kylix532 Thank you for your reply,it would have been nice to write this in the first place. I wet the hair as I find the distribution is far improved,on dry hair you need more which is a canny ploy to buy more-I don't feel there is any loss of pigment doing it this way. I have used Pravana on my own hair and experimented in this way. My client's hair is pre lightened with 'Aubergine' by Crazy Color faded,hence it was to refresh to a similar shade but using Pravana as I find it has greater holding power. It is not a tutorial just the before,during and after. I do not put too much info as I believe many people aren't interested they just want to see the outcome. Thanks.

      @@Scarlett777Red The best method is to do it on hair that wasn't just washed and still has some natural oils (not too much) that makes it easier and lets the dye sit in better.
