Great job, I love the turnout. I wear shades of purple now myself, and I love Pravana ChromoSilk Vivids and I'm so glad I'm a hairstylist and get them so easily. New subbie here and can't wait to see your future videos. Thanks again
I know this is an old video, but if you could respond it would be suuuper helpful. After your purple dye started to fade, what color did your hair fade to where you applied the purple? I am planning on using the same dye in my hair.
Gratisfaction I did, which made it extremely dark. Next time I use it I will be blending it out using conditioner. I tend to like my colors to start out darker because then it allows me to wait longer between application.
lady3rdavae to be honest this was my first time ever using Pravana and I used way too much. I used 2 tubes of the violet and 1/2 tube of blue. But I could've easily done it with 1/2 a tube and mixed it with conditioner or the clear. It's an extremely pigmented product so you can manipulate how light or dark you want it with either conditioner, clear, or another color. I'm actually in the process of editing another color video using Jerome Russell color which is a little easier to get if you aren't able to get your hands on the pravana. If you're only doing the ends you could easily do it with 1 tube mixed with conditioner.
I'm looking to bleach my dreadlocks not just the tips. Any tips you can give to help me out? Is there anything I should put in my hair after to stop the chemical process so it won't thin my locks out? Nice videos I must say
Unfortunelty I have no experience with locs so I'm not sure if there is anything in particular you have to watch out for and I don't want to give you incorrect information. The main thing in general with bleach is making sure that you have completely rinsed it out so that it doesn't over process. Then doing a deep conditioning treatment afterwards but make sure to avoid certain natural ones such as avocado because it can cause your color to become brassy. Sorry I know that doesn't answer your question.
You have beautiful hair! I absolutely love this color. How long does the color last? I'm dyeing my undercut and I don't know whether to use Pravana or Manic Panic...
+Carly Gunter I would recommend using Pravana or RAW rather than manic panic just because they last longer and don't run for as long. Manic has great colors but the color will bleed forever. The other 2 brands I mentioned last in my hair for months and just go through stages of vibrancy as they fade.
Hey I know this is an old video, I actual dyed my hair with the pravana violet about 3 weeks ago? Maybe a month.. And it's still staining my neck? I can't wear light colored clothes or run my fingers through my hair. Idk what's wrong lol.
I've never had this issue with Pravana, I think that you probably didn't wash all the color out. You can also try sealing the color in better with the Pravana clear.
+marisol magana Hmmm in that case I unfortunately don't know. Pravana has a TH-cam Page as well, I would possibly try posting on there for potential solutions, sorry I couldn't be of more help.
+86Kera depending on the starting color of your hair, bleaching is not necessary. If your hair is about a level 3 or 4 it will only show in the sun, I would suggest sticking with Pravana or RAW if your hair is darker because I find they show up the best when my hair is dark.
good afternoon , I loved your video, I wonder how many pots you used dye, the dye mixed up with something ? Greetings from Paraguay : D ( sorry for my bad English )
+Nathalia Duarte When I did this, it was my first time using the Pravana dye so I used way more than I needed to for the length and thickness of my hair. If your hair is curly or long it will change how much you need. But I used 2 full tubes of purple and 1 tube of blue. But I could have easily done it with half a tube of purple mixed with conditioner and half a tube of the blue. I would recommend mixing this with conditioner because it makes it so you use less dye and it makes the color less dark, but you'll have to use mostly conditioner with just a dot of color if you're wanting more of a pastel color. If you want the color to be dark you can also mix with the clear that they sell which basically extends the color and also helps with the shine of your hair. Hopefully that answers your question, let me know if you have anymore, and thanks for watching :)
Did you dye your hair the same day you bleached it? I'm going to be bleaching my hair from blue-black to blonde and then blue on top. or should I bleach first and then wait to color my hair 😬
The majority of the time I Bleach, let it air dry, dye, then deep condition and protein treat. The only time I don't is when I'm in a time crunch. Depending on how dark the blue black is on your hair, you might have to do a color lift first to actually achieve the color that you want. Going from dyed black to blonde can be difficult and really should be done in a multiple step process unless you are ok with your hair being a little orange.
Sorry for such a late response...Personally, I don't lighten or dye my hair nearly as frequently as I would like to or so that I never have my roots showing because healthy hair is far more important to me than colored hair. That being said there are ways of prepping your hair so that it's healthy enough for any type of manipulation. I would start by making sure you are consistently deep conditioning your hair, trimming when necessary, and using products with good ingredients. If you are doing it yourself and getting negative results, I would recommend getting it professionally done. There are several products out that professional stylist have access to such as Olaplex that helps lessen the damage that happens during the coloring process.
Did you think that the Pravana slightly altered your curl pattern makin it slightly looser and did you use a protein treatment after dying your hair? Thanks.
Sorry for such a late response...I use Pravana quite frequently and have never seen any change to my curl pattern or texture. Due to my hair being bleached underneath all of the coloring I do, I tend to do deep conditioning and protein treatments very often. I usually deep condition with some sort of moisturizing conditioner once a week and do protein treatments about once a month depending on how my hair feels. It's really about just paying attention to what your hair needs versus having a set schedule.
do you think i can skip toner after i bleach my black Asian virgin hair? after all, the purple isn't that light. if you don't mind me asking, did you need to use toner?
Laura Chia if you're going to be dying your hair a darker color rather than a pastel color you can skip toning. I personally don't tone my hair but it really depends on what color you want your hair to be, and what color it turns out after bleaching it. Though your hair might seem like it's one solid color, different portions can react differently to being lightened, which will ultimately impact your end results. For me, since I keep my hair in the realm of purples and blues these cancel out any yellow or orange that can occur when lightening. If you are going non-complementary colors, the base color your hair turns from lightening can have an adverse effect of your final color; and that's where toning is very helpful.
I bleached my hair about 2 years ago and the top half is faded out to my natural dark hair color and the bottom half is like a golden blonde. Should I re-lighten my hair or do you think that the color will come out fine?
Since I want to keep my hair as healthy as possible, I usually only bleach it about 2-3 times a year. So when my roots begin to inevitably show through my color I just concentrate my darker colors staring at my roots and fade lighter colors to my ends. Certain brands show better on darker hair than others. My natural hair color is black, so once my roots come in I tend to stick to using Pravana and RAW because they take on darker hair better than other brands I've mentioned before on my channel. I would suggest relighting it if you have a harsh line showing where the 2 colors meet, if you want the same vibrancy everywhere, or if you're going to be doing it a light fashion color and you don't want it to jump from black to light.
HI! i am 100% 3c/4a natural . I've never died my hair. I want to try the violet pervana without bleaching my hair. How bright do you think it'll get and how many tubes do you recommend I use? any other tips are welcome!
It really depends on the starting color of your hair. If it is dark, using pravana will only show as a slight tint in sunlight. No matter how long your hair is you won't even need a full tube because this color is highly concentrated and meant to be mixed. I have a ton of hair and I only put about 1 inch squeezed into about a cup of conditioner. They also sell something called Clear which helps with adding shine to the hair.
NaturalCurlEnvy yeah I used 4 tubes because that's what my friend recommended and it's a subtle tint in the light which is what I was going for thanks you
Let me start by saying THANKKKK YOUUUU! LOL I'm going purple, I was a little nervous... Last time I bleached was 5-6 years ago and that was on relaxed hair... Of course I'm one year natural and I wanted to treat me 3c/4a to a purple party! LOL I dyed my hair last year after my big chop... no bleach just a "reddish", "burnt orange" coloring... It's grown out, just the tips are colored... is it best to follow that method with the new hair bleached first then hit the tips? I mean, what you just did sent my confidence back through the roof! 😂😂 I've been watching video after video, reading articles and it was like no one was hitting EVERY question I had but, you did hun-tee! LOL So, yes, roots first and then my brighter tips?
+adela Gabriel no, i've never tried steaming my hair but I'm in the process of editing a video about my pre/post bleach routine so stay tuned for that :)
Alyssa Martinez pravana is one of my favorite dyes for several reasons one of them being that there is little to no color transfer. One of the ways I prevent this from happening is by making sure I've thoroughly rinsed all of the leftover dye out of my hair. I also wash my hair a day or two after coloring it. The only thing I find that is impacted by color transfer no matter what I do is when I have light color nail polish on. When I style my hair for about the first week after coloring it, my nail color always changes. Hope this was helpful and thanks for watching.
NaturalCurlEnvy thanks for the tips :) I just dyed my hair violet with Pravana. Right now I'm staying away from light-colored shirt as much as possible because the color transfers on shoulders. It's my first time coloring my hair with Pravana.
+aliyah abdullah Pravana Vivids are semi-permananet, but they are extremely pigmented and last a very long time on my hair. But how long the color lasts will vary based off several factors such as how often you clarify your hair, hair porosity, etc.
Omg I love it!!! So if you wouldn't have used the bit of blue it wouldn't be as dark? (It is dark but I hope you know what I mean lol) I'm looking to get the exact same shade as you.
+helenalagos Since making this video I've tried other techniques using the pravana line and the key is that a little goes a very long way. I achieved this same color again using conditioner and about an inch of each color versus using multiple tubes. The blue isn't what made it dark specifically, more that these are extremely pigmented colors so you dont have to use alot. If you don't want to extend the color out with conditioner, they also sell a clear that will extend the color and add a beautiful sheen to your hair. The amount that I put in the beginning of the video to demonstrate what the colors look like is basically about 1/4 the amount I needed the next time around to do my entire head when blended out with conditioner.
+leedorable The nice thing about Pravana is that the colors are very long lasting. This color stayed dark for months and then faded to a nice lighter purple.
+browneyedgirl1100 unfortunately this is one of the first videos I made so I'm not exactly sure how much I used. But what I did was used one color at my roots and another at the ends. When I first started using pravana I used way more of the product than necessary because it was new to me. Now I use very little, a pea size of the color mixed in conditioner goes a very long way.
+NaturalCurlEnvy oops didn't answer your other question...Dying your hair blonde will only work if your hair is already a fairly light color to begin with. If you do it on dark hair it will only slightly tint it or make it brassy.
browneyedgirl1100 Depending on how much I dilute it, it does change how long my color lasts. Recently, I've been doing more of a violet pastel color which only stays about 2 weeks with constant washing. But my darker colors stay longer and go through more of gradual facing process. I usually treat it the same way I would a deep conditioning treatment and leave it on for 30-60 minutes, honestly just depending on my schedule.

+MAE B 4 U NATURALS Thank you so much for the support, I should have new videos up soon, just been fighting with my camera.
Looks good! Easy peasy instructions. I was able to go blue myself! Thanks for the video!
the44virus so glad to hear that, thanks :)
This is so beautiful! I've been thinking about using the Pravana Violet and Blue, so thank you for this video! You and your hair are beautiful!
+Kylie Martin thanks :)
This was the video I needed. Thanks for posting.

that looks so awesome!!!!
+Kate Holmsten thanks love :)
I SO love this🙌🏾 I'm about to be a total copycat!
I use the same violet :)
hey! i just bleached and colored my hair Cobalt Blue last week. how often do you recommended deep conditioning? I usually do it every 2 weeks.
thanks!
I love it purple is my favourite color I may have to be brave and go purple 😆
+missc78 do it, it's so much fun :)
oh bless your sweet heart lol i needed this video !
+Tamara Yvonne I'm glad it was helpful :)

It looks so dark inside at the end, I like it dark though and it will fade nicely too.
Suits you nicely 👍
So you just used straight violet on roots? And diluted violet on ends and mids?
Oh I forgot you added some blue too, so how much blue do you usually add? What ratio of purple to blue? Cheers
Did you add conditioner to the pravana or did you just use it straight away?
Gorgeous color!! Looks really good on you. Do you need to mix the Pravana with anything else or you use it straight out of the tube?
Hi i wanted to dye the tips of my dreads this color and jus wanted to know how many tubes did u use in total

Did you use a developer to create this look if so what brand and what volume?
Tamesia True Beauty C. You do not need a developer with this . It is a direct dye hair color
do you steam your hair before you start process or after the entire process is done (bleaching and dying).
+adela Gabriel no, i've never tried steaming my hair but I'm in the process of editing a video about my pre/post bleach routine so stay tuned for that :)

omg you are so pretty.
You can just wipe off the stain on your skin with some alcohol. It worked for me
